The First Gay Girls in Miss Andersen's 5th Grade Class
"Why did you bring me here?" asked Teresea.
Cecilia and Tera walked through the park. The ten year olds were the only ones there because of the October winds, blowing up the leaves and Cecilia's flowing dress.
"Well, I. uhh..." Cecilia was nervous. Her hands calmed on the small plastic in his hand. It would soon begin to cut off blood if she didn;t do this soon.
But she was scared.
"I just thought that this park was beautiful. Like you," Cecilia denali stammered out.
Teresa smiled. "Thanks. I like this park too."
The two girls looked around them. A wooden park bench was being attacked by a blast of leaves. And the trees that those leaves longed to be were almost bare now. The leaves fell to the floor.
"Do you want to continue walking?" Teresa suggested.
"No!" Cecilia said, grabbing hold of his best friend and crush. She looked to the ground in shame. "I...I want us to stay here."
Teresa looked at her friend. "Okay. If that's what you want."
The two girls watched no movement as the wind had stopped. Awkward silence engraved them.
Cecilia had gathered up her hope and the wind picked up, blowing her dress, "Teresa," she said gon on one of her knees. The wind twirled her hair towards the respondent.
"Will you please date me?"
This was everything.
Cecilia would ever date her best friend, or...
Get rejected.
Lose the bond.
Be orchestied for being a lesbian.
Be forever alone.
The wind blew wildly between the girls; hope swelled in Cecil's heart.
Teresa opened her mouth and said something, but the wind rendered her mute. The wind blew hard like a tornado. A tornado between them.
"What?" Cecilia shouted.
It seemed that the wind was blowing them away and soon it ended like it was very there in the first place.
Like Cecila's hope was never there.
The forest part laid it's silence, only the chirping of birds and movement of squirrels making some amount of noise.
"Teresa--"
Teresa lunged at Cecilia and engulfed her in a tight hug. "Yes, I will be your girlfriend."
The two girls stood up and Cecila slipped the pick plastic ring with a heart on it on Teresa's left ring finger. A matching on on her one left hand.
"Let's go on a date," Teresa said.
"We could pretend that this is a date," Cecilia suggested.
"Okay, let's go that." The two girls continued on their nature walk through the forest.
Would they have a story to tell everyone today at school? The first gay girls in Miss Andersen's 5th grade class.
