Part 4: New and Old Friends

Isa. She's become everything to me. Who cares if I'm going soft? I have someone to be around, well, other than Augustine. That Archie person.. he's kind of annoying. Couldn't he have left us alone? It's only a kiss... I wonder. Is Archie a friend, or.... a parent to her? I don't exactly know for sure, but I do wonder.

"Dazed by beauty, sunlight reflected in your eyes..." I used to love this poem as a young person. I always thought that someday, I would find someone who would make me feel like this, and I did. ...Isa... "You don't know how much I care for you, even though we're only in a dream..."

I wake up that morning feeling remarkably well rested, despite being up thinking almost all night. It's a beautiful morning, and Lumiose has never felt so... friendly to me. A Fletchling flies through my open window and lands on the desk beside me.

"Hello there. What might you be doing?" It's a brown-bellied Fletchling-- a shiny. How rare. I didn't bother catching it, it's just fine and happy in the wild, and I'm glad for that. The world is good enough for some things to be content. It starts to peck at the desk, and then flies out the window. Heh. Such a happy little creature. I wish I could be like it.

I'm getting my things together for work when I hear a knock on my door. I open the door, and... there's nobody there. Augustine then jumps down from above my door and shouts unidentifiable words-that-I'm-not-really-sure-are-words.

"How did you get up there?!" The only thing I can think of is, what are you, a Chimichar?! I make myself laugh.

"Doesn't matter how I got up there, Mon Ami, it's Saturday! You don't have to go to work! For the sake of Arceus, we could just mess around all day!" He seems much bouncier than usual. And how did I not realize it's Saturday? Almost nobody's outside!  But seriously, how did he get up there...? Does he have something on his shoes?

"Come on!" He grabs my hand and starts pulling me around Lumiose. The Skiddo are out frolicking between Plazas, looking for suckers to give them food. Pokémon that are not typically native here start flooding the streets, along with unfamiliar trainers. This happens every year, and this can only mean one thing-- the World Fair is on its way here. People from Kanto, Unova, Sinnoh, Hoenn, and many other places are flooding into Kalos for the most exciting week of the year.

Alolans will be here too. Alolans.... Jean! He said he'd be over there if we need him. Maybe he's here this year! Now I'm the one tugging Augustine through the city. We head over to the port where everyone is arriving. I search and search until someone approaches us from behind and puts their hands on our shoulders.

"Aloha, cousins! It's been many years!" We turn around to see a man with black hair, somewhat green eyes, and a comforting smile. As soon as he sees Jean, Augustine starts smiling and laughing. Jean Kukui-- he makes people a little nutty wherever he goes-- especially the women.

"Aloha, Hippie." That's a little nickname I have for him. Ha. Never gets old.

"Ahh, fine. I'll let you get away with it this time, but this time only, Lion." And that's the nickname he has for me. It's not so bad.

"And if it isn't Bambi!" That's the nickname Jean has for Augustine. He has always had a love for woodland creatures, has a somewhat dark history, and has had many friends, so it's only appropriate to call him Bambi.

"Oh. Jean! You're finally wearing a shirt!" Now, he has a thing against shirts for some reason. None of us can figure out why, but Augustine is constantly trying to find out every chance he gets.

"I know! If it weren't so cold in Kalos, I would have had my normal attire!" His so-called "normal attire" isn't really.... Kalosian.

"That's not exactly how you dress here, even if it's warm..." We begin to snicker.

"Enough of that. Now, Lion. I heard you have yourself a girl." How did he hear?! Someone among us is the snitch. I look at Bambi for a moment or so, and he breaks.

"Umm, about that. Lys? Yesterday, I umm... sort of stalked you to see where you were going. And I kinda sorta told Jean about it. I hope you're ok with that..." That guy. Always trying to find out what I'm doing.

"Yes, I'm ok with that. Stalk me anytime you want!" ... What?! Don't look at me like that! I have a sense of humor, don't get me wrong! I know you're looking at me funny, and you think I have no emotions. Well I do! ... STOP LOOKIgN AT ME FUNNY!

Afterwards, Hippie headed off to look at the fair by himself, and Bambi and I spent the rest of the day being "friendly" to the guests (what I mean by "friendly" is creeping them out by being... a bit too friendly). Some of them even dropped their things when they saw us! What?! NO, we didn't steal! We gave them back to their owners, obviously. (mumbles...)

After Bambi leaves to go attend to his Pokémon, I wander around the fair myself. It really is nice to be alone. I've always wondered what sweets from other regions taste like. I had heard there were Lava Cookies in the Hoenn booth, so I headed over there. ... Are Lava Cookies really made out of lava?

I ran into Maxie on the way there. Unlike Archie's initial reaction to me, Maxie was actually pretty chill. Sort of all, 'Oh hey, you're the guy who hangs out with Isa'. You know, that kind of stuff.  Of course, I had to be an idiot and ask,

"Are Lava Cookies really made out of lava?" Ugh. Wow. Such an idiot. He answers with, 'No, they are not made out of lava. They are, in fact, made how any other Cookies are made, except with abnormal amounts of cinnamon to give it a spicy flavor.' Hmm. I guess I really need to try one.

"Umm, sir? I have one question (sorry about my idiot question earlier): What do you think of Isa and I?" ...  'I'm completely fine with it. As long as you don't take advantage of her or anything, anything like that, I have no problem. Archie, on the other hand...'

Ah. Sorry- that's my door. I need to go for now- I'll catch up later. Wish me luck!

              -Lys
