Part 3: Fletchling's Song
"Wow.... that was kind of sudden. I mean, just that straightforward....he must have taken a liking to me fairly quickly. What do you think, Fletchling?"
"Chi-Cherrp!" There's this one Fletchling that I always visit in the morning, the one that camps out in my backyard in the Fall. Sometimes I see him in Lumiose City, hanging around Cafés, waiting for someone to give him their food. It's special. The Fletchling, instead of a gray belly, it has a brown one. There's not really much of a difference, but I think it's just beautiful. My Pyroar beside me lets out a small "Rowr". It wants more attention. Usually it's not this needy, but I start to give it attention anyway. Who doesn't want to be a spoiled Pokémon?
Tonight is the night of our date. I want to look as nice as I can. After all, I'm going to be with someone very famous, and I want to make a good impression. I've picked out some jewelry with pearls from the Clamperl in Hoenn that Steven gave to me. I'm looking at the pearls with a sad feeling when my Holo Caster starts to ring. I pick up, and say:
"Who is it?" (Ugh. I sound so dismal...) Someone answers.
"You okay, Little Scamp? You sound like someone just punched your Poochyena." I start to smile. I remember this voice! Archie! Another voice interrupts:
"Archie, have you forgotten what we're here to say? Because in case you did, I remember." I know who this is! I know who all of these are!
"You're such a NERD, Maxie. That's why I like you."
"You're straying off topic again. Now, its about time. Happy birthday, Isa." Oh. I forgot! How could I forget my birthday? But... they remembered! As if this call couldn't get any better, one more voice comes into hearing, saying:
"Sorry I'm so late! Have you started the call? I hope not!" It's the voice of that--haha--Silver-Haired Pretty Boy.
"Yes, Steven, we've started, but barely. Try to show up early to things, all right?" Maxie always gets ticked when people show up late.
"Hold up guys, I'm going to do something so that Isa can see us..." There was a pause, until I finally saw their faces on the screen. I smiled again. Archie was holding the thing, Maxie was behind him, and Steven had a funny look on his face, which made me laugh. Of course, everyone turned around to look at him, but he had stopped doing it.
Maxie pushes his way in front of Archie, and says:
"Isa. We'll be over in Kalos by tomorrow morning, we look forward to seeing you! And a few other friends are coming over too." A few other friends...? Maybe Zinnia, Roxanne, maybe that sweetie of a Whismur, Aster! And Brendan, too! ...Brendan. I didn't get to say goodbye to him... How could I forget?
After the call ends, I start to straighten up my house. I don't know why I started doing that, but I just started cleaning, wondering how they got a hold of a Holo Caster all the way in Hoenn. My Linoone, Patches, walks through the kitchen with something in his mouth. It's a photo, and he drops it at my feet. There I am on the plane to Hoenn with Steven, and we're taking a picture. Maxie is looking at us from behind with a glare that says, "Will you SHUT UP you kids?" I don't know what to do. Either laugh or cry seem like good options.
I remember Littleroot town, a place of wonder and new beginnings. I used to stop by Prof. Birch's lab to see what was going on. Brendan was there, helping his father with his work. I had picked Torchic, and he picked Mudkip. We were the people who took down the mighty Primal Kyogre, and the people who tamed the ancient Rayquaza. Brendan watched me go through the Elite Four and Champion Steven--yes, that Steven-- without fail. I can't believe I didn't say goodbye....
About five in the evening, I hear a knock on my door. It's him. He is dressed casually, and he has a red scarf wrapped around his neck, even though it's at least 61 degrees outside. There's a sparkle in his eyes and a friendly smile that makes him seem... a bit less savage.
"Hi." He says it a little more familiarly than he did last time. "You look.... amazing...ly beautiful." He brushes his hair out of his face. He's nervous again. We walk around town for a while. Just looking at the trees, looking at the absolute beauty of Laverre City--just like me, he says-- until we pass through the gate and into Route 116. The autumn leaves have fallen on the ground into piles, tons of leaves until winter finally comes and covers them beneath its icy cold blanket. We walk until we get to Lumiose City an hour later. He asks me which restaraunt I want to go to. He says he can afford all of them... and the most expensive one is $450,000... for only ONE MEAL! We decide to get dinner at Restauraunt Le Wow, $90,000 per meal. We talked for a while, and we enjoyed all five courses. Now I know why this is so expensive...
Afterwards, it starts to get dark, so he walks me home. As we're on our way, I look at the scarf that he's wearing. It always seems to be there. What is he hiding under it...? We reach my house. I stop on my front porch, and he looks at me with something unidentifiable in his eyes. He gets closer... a little too close for my comfort. He takes my hand in his, and is even closer now. I feel nervous, but, I oblige... Then we pull apart all of a sudden. Archie is in the window, flicking the lights on and off. He doesn't look too happy. Lysandre runs away, and he winks at me. I smile. There's more to him than I imagined.
---- ---- ---- ----
"Who is that guy?" Archie is pacing around the room, arms crossed.
"He's my boyfriend." Maxie nearly spits out his tea, and looks at me.
"Look kid, we don't want him hurting you. He's a whole year older. Who knows what he could do to you." The situation isn't getting any better.
"He's nice, he's honest, he doesn't tell lies."
"Please." He rolls his eyes at me.
"Come on, just give him a chance!"
"HE'S A GUY!" I stop talking. Archie is going to stay that way until he meets him. Heh. I better write again tomorrow.... I'm going to sleep. Bye!
