THE INQUIRY
Y/N
It was the second time I was at Jongsuk's cell, hoping he would answer me this time. He sat on the edge of his small cot, his head bowed as if in deep contemplation.
"I need to know the truth, Jongsuk," I said, my voice firm but tinged with a hint of desperation. "Did you really do it? Did you take Sunjae's life?"
"Please, Jongsuk," I pleaded, taking a step closer to him. "You have to trust me. Tell me what happened that night."
But still, he said nothing. His jaw clenched, his fists trembling slightly at his sides. My patience was wearing thin, the frustration bubbling up inside me like a dormant volcano on the verge of erupting.
"Tell me what happened that night, Jongsuk. I need to hear your side of the story."
I reached out a hand, intending to gently touch his shoulder, when suddenly, he looked up. His eyes bore into mine with a fierce intensity, a flicker of something dark and unreadable crossing his face. I gasped at his sudden movement, taken aback by the raw emotion etched in his features.
Before I could react, he lunged forward, his hands wrapping around my throat. Shocked, I gasped for air, the world spinning around me. Panic clawed at my chest as I struggled against his grip, but his strength was overpowering. I struggled against his grip, clawing at his hands in a desperate attempt to free myself, but his hold only tightened around my neck.
"Why are you doing this, Jongsuk?" I managed to choke out between desperate breaths, my words barely audible.
His only response was the tightening of his grip, his face a mask of primal rage. In that moment, as I fought for air, I saw a flicker of something familiar in his eyes – pain, regret, and an overwhelming sense of loss.
Just when I felt my strength waning and darkness starting to cloud my vision, Officer Kim burst into the cell. With swift efficiency, he pulled Jongsuk away from me, his grip unyielding.
Gasping for air, I collapsed to the floor, my chest heaving as I tried to regain my composure. Jongsuk stood there, his expression unreadable, a dangerous edge lingering in his eyes.
Officer Kim helped me to my feet, concern etched on his features as he guided me out of the cell.
"Are you okay?" he asked, his voice filled with genuine worry. I nodded weakly, my thoughts in disarray as I tried to make sense of the harrowing encounter.

TAEHYUNG
I stood in the room, watching as Y/n sat on the chair, trying to compose herself after the terrifying ordeal she had just been through. Her eyes were red-rimmed, and her hands trembled ever so slightly as she tried to compose herself. I approached her, holding a glass of water. Without a word, she took the glass from me and drank it down in one gulp, a look of relief washing over her face. As she calmed down, I couldn't help but wonder why she was risking everything to defend a man like Jongsuk.
I couldn't help but feel a pang of anger as I remembered him who had been about to take her life before I had arrived just in time.
"Do you have what you wanted now?" I asked, my tone laced with a mix of concern and accusation. Y/n shot me a sharp look, her eyes narrowing in defiance.
"You have no right to judge me," she retorted, her voice carrying a hint of steel. "The case is still ongoing, so you shouldn't be making such comments."
I couldn't help but scoff at her audacity. "Oh, forgive me for trying to save your life," I replied sarcastically. "Clearly, I should just let criminals like Jongsuk run wild without interference."
Y/n's gaze hardened, and she squared her shoulders, readying herself for a battle of words. The room suddenly felt charged with tension, the air vibrating with unspoken accusations and simmering emotions.
"Arrogance doesn't look good on you, Officer," she shot back, her voice steady despite the tremors in her hands. "You may have saved me this time, but that doesn't give you the right to belittle my choices."
I scoffed at her response, unable to conceal my disbelief at her audacity. "Arrogant, am I?" I replied, a tinge of sarcasm coloring my tone. "I call it being realistic. You were inches away from becoming another victim of Jongsuk's depravity."
She bristled at my words, her hands balling into fists. "I don't need a lecture from you, Officer," she snapped. "I know what I'm doing."
I leaned in closer, my voice lowering to a dangerous whisper. "Do you, though? Because from where I'm standing, it looks like you're in way over your head."
"I don't expect you to understand," she said, her voice tinged with bitterness. "But there's more to this case than you know."
She stood up abruptly, her chair screeching against the floor, and shot me one last glare before leaving the room. "Typical," I muttered to myself.

Y/N
I decided to take matters into my own hands and gather information from his friends to better understand the kind of person he was. Armed with a list of names, I set out to meet them one by one.
I entered the coffee shop where Jongsuk's friends were gathered, hoping to gather insights about my client. As I approached them, their conversation paused briefly, and they exchanged glances before gesturing for me to join them.
"Hi, I'm Jongsuk's lawyer. I was hoping to ask you all a few questions about him," I began.
They exchanged glances, looking a little taken aback by my sudden appearance. After a moment, one of them sighed and spoke up. "Sure, go ahead. What do you want to know?"
I took a seat and pulled out my notebook. "First off, can you tell me what kind of person Jongsuk is? How would you describe him to someone who doesn't know him well?"
Another friend leaned in, a thoughtful expression on her face. "Jongsuk? He's very kind and honest. I can't remember a time when he got aggressive or confrontational. He's just not that type of person."
I scribbled down some notes, nodding along. "That's good to know. Have you ever seen him lose his temper or act out of character in any way?"
They all shook their heads, exchanging glances once again. Then one of them spoke up, a hint of sarcasm in their tone. "I don't think he would ever stab anyone, if that's what you're getting at."
I raised an eyebrow, trying to hide my surprise at the unexpected comment. "Oh, no, that's not what I meant at all. Just trying to get a better understanding of his personality and behavior."
A third friend, a man with a deep voice, added, "I've known Jongsuk for years, and I can vouch for his character. He's the type of person you can always count on, no matter what."
I prodded further, "But do you know if he had any enemies or conflicts recently?"
His friend shook his head, "No, he's always been peaceful and easygoing. He's the last person anyone would suspect of any wrongdoing."
I nodded, noting their responses. "So, you're all saying that he's essentially a good person?"
They all nodded in agreement, assuring me that Jongsuk was not someone who would resort to evil deeds. As I left their company, I couldn't help but wonder why such kind words were spoken of Jongsuk, especially in light of the grim situation he found himself in.
