Chapter 11 A new enemy

At the last moment, Firefly ejected out of her aircraft. She landed roughly on the craggy Hell-ish terrain. She grunted in slight pain at the force of the impact as she rolled and slammed into a rock. It wouldn't kill her in a hundred years, but that doesn't mean it didn't hurt like a bitch.

The impact stunned her for sure and as she lied on the ground, she shook her head to clear her vision. She felt a presence behind her, but as she whipped around, she saw the tip of a spear pointed at her chest.

"I wouldn't move if I were you bitch," hissed a voice full of venom.

As Firefly's vision cleared, she got a crystal view of just who was in front of her.

Taller than Firefly --standing at a solid six-foot-- was another demon, but not one she had ever recalled meeting before in her 3,000 years existence. Long dirty black hair hung to her mid-back, and fierce glowing red eyes that looked like pits of hot coals bore down at Firefly, burning with malice. Her ash-grey skin and torn dress gave her a certainly unholy appearance.

"I'm sorry, do I know you?" asked Firefly.

The girl narrowed her eyes as she huffed.

"No, but I know you," she said quietly.

"And who am I?" retorted Firefly.

"Firefly, current Hell-lord of this part of the ninth plain of Hell. Smartass," she hissed.

"Got quite the temper too," mused Firefly.

The girl pressed her spear closer as she hissed, "If you really wanna know my name THAT badly, I am Hexra, an artificial wind demon from the eighth plain of Hell. You've upset the balance of the plains."

"And how have I done that?" asked Firefly.

"You've not earned your land like the rest of them, the creators of fate do not agree with that!" she snapped/

"We're demons. We make our own fates!" Firefly said and faster than the human eye could track, drew her sword, and knocked the spear away.

Hexra growled in response and leaped back. She twirled her spear around her in a circle as she dashed forward to try and impale Firefly.

Firefly was on her feet and grasped her sword in both of her hands as she said.

"But why fight me?, you aren't even from this plain...also you sound very much like Zeronix," Firefly commented.

Hexra narrowed her eyes at Firefly as she mused, "He is the one that'll bring order to this chaos."

Firefly rolled her eyes.

"Again, this is Hell. Since time immemorial, this realm has been a realm of chaos and disorder."

Instead of replying, the wind demon swung her spear around in a wide arc. Firefly responded with her sword deflecting the blow, sending up a small shock wave.

"We don't have a quarrel!" protested Firefly.

"But I do!" replied Hexra her eyes glowing red.

The winds picked up as she jumped back and swung her arms.

A dozen blades of smoke materialized around her and flew towards Firefly at a rapid pace.

In response, Firefly stabbed her sword into the rocky landscape and conjured a bright orange shield. She felt the blades bounce off her shield as she sent it out like a wave of energy, stunning Hexra.

Off-balance, Hexra snarled in anger as Firefly dashed forward and brought her sword to bare skin as Hexra hissed out, "Scatter!"

She turned herself into smoke causing Firefly's sword to go straight through her.

Hexra then turned invisible and teleported behind Firefly. Then she slammed the end of her spear into her back.

The force of the blow would've easily snapped the spine of any normal human thousand times over, but it merely knocked the wind out of Firefly as she was sent forward onto her stomach.

As Hexra went to stab Firefly and end the fight right then and there, Firefly turned herself into fire and in a small bright explosion, vanished.

Looking around wildly Hexra snarled, "Come out and fight Coward!"

"Say's the one who just pulled the same trick!" said Firefly as she appeared out of a small Fire Pit that had opened right in front of her and landed an uppercut straight to her chin.

Not wasting a second, she ran her hand across her blade and ignited the sword, swinging around in a circle, sending a wave of hell-fire at the wind demon.

At the last moment, Hexra brought up her spear and deflected the attack, though in the process, she lost balance. She landed on her back and rolled to regain her footing, her spear teleported back into her hand as she did so.

As Firefly brought her sword downwards, Hexra caught her sword in between the two-prongs of her spear and the two fought a miniature battle of attrition before Hexra twisted the sword out of Firefly's grip and tossed it to the side.

Firefly wasn't deterred as she ducked under another spear swing and ignited her forearm aflame. She swung around and slammed her elbow into the side of the wind demon's face.

Said Demon hissed in frustration as she turned to face the Hell-lord.

Firefly felt her sword reappear in her hand as she breathed out a brief line of fire from her mouth at Hexra who deflected it with a line of wind from her spear.

After a few moments, the two broke contact and the two slammed their blades into each other again.

"Oh I forgot to mention..you're out of time!" hissed Hexra

"Time? time for what?" replied Firefly.

Hexra didn't answer. instead, she headbutted Firefly and kicked her away before backflipping.

During mid-flip she saw a projectile streak towards her, a missile of sorts.

Reacting at speeds that any normal human could only dream of, she brought her sword up and slashed directly down the center of the missile. The two halves split off from each side of her before exploding. The explosion failed to affect her in the end as she got a look at her new friends.

A large group of mortal soldiers stood there with several tank-like vehicles. Three aircraft hovered in place as they all trained their weapons on the lone hell-lord.

"Hmm, brought some friends. Too bad they won't be of use to you much longer..not to mention-oh I don't know-i'm literally fucking immortal" said Firefly.

Hexra narrowed her eyes as she hissed out.

"That's not the point."

And with that, she turned into a miniature tornado and vanished from sight.

Firefly knew she had truly left this area now as she now focused fully on the small army before her.

"Hmm...okay a thousand to one-I like those odds," she stated lowering her sword.

The first few soldiers began to open fire, but as they did so, she noticed something was off.

The first few bullets that began to leave the barrels of their rifles began to slow down in mid-air.

Before stopping completely.

Firefly felt that she was still fully in control of herself as she blinked in surprise and stood up straight wondering what just was going on.

She got her response just a few seconds later as a large pink object flew at blinding speeds past the group before letting out a pink beam of energy.

The space around the small army seemed to distort in on itself and even lose its color as suddenly the space imploded in on itself.

The resulting scene was a bloodfest.

The space had destabilized itself and torn the small army, resulting in a number of explosions across the entire army, reducing it to ruins in seconds.

"Well now...can't stay out of trouble can ya?" asked Nerozika, her shield returning to her as she caught it in her hand and it returned to hovering behind her.

Behind Nerozika stood Akure, the four shadows, and a large group of armed demonic minions.

Firefly chuckled and placed her sword back in her sheath.

"You took your sweet time,"

Nerozika rolled her eyes.

"Hey, we couldn't tell if that orb you shot at the fortress was even yours to begin with," she retorted.

Akure stepped forward and nodded.

"It was only until one of our scouts reported that the massive tornado that appeared in your area had vanished and a previously unknown demon had been spotted attacking you. I've never seen a demon like that before," said Akure.

Firefly nodded and replied, "I know neither have I. she said her name was-"

Nerozika cut her off, "Hexra..I know all too well who she is."

"How do you know this...Hexra?" asked Scath.

Nerozika l scanned the area with her eyes as she said, "Not safe to talk here. Yes, she's gone, but she's no ordinary demon, we should head back to the barn first."

Firefly narrowed her eyes at the "barn" part of it but shrugged as she nodded and the group turned around.

-----------------------------

Hexra was watching the scene with disgust from afar. She had this immense rage within her, at that demon named Firefly.

SHE was the reason she was stuck in this unholy body for eternity.

Ever since that fateful day 3.000 years ago.

That fateful day in the woods.
