Chapter 5

Leo

Okay, I don't know what happened.

It's been a week since we got back to camp, and Calypso's been getting really annoying. She'd criticize the Demeter kids if the flowers weren't perfect, yell at any kid when their voice cracked or something at the campfire, encourage fights between the Ares cabin and literally anyone else, et cetera. The other day, we even lost a capture the flag game because she wasn't watching the flag like she was supposed to, instead scolding a son of Hypnos for falling asleep standing up. (Yes, they can do that.) People had been giving me dirty looks like, control your girlfriend.

I was at Bunker Nine doing not particularly anything when someone knocked. It was Jason. He looked tired.

"Hey man, come in," I said.

He came in. We sat down at a random sofa. I faced him and asked, "So. You look tired. What's on your mind?"

He wrung his hands. "Not much. Just... Calypso's with the Aphrodite girls all the time, Piper started coming to my cabin. But it's hard even for us to sleep with all the noise they make. Even Chiron gave up trying to stop them."

"Oh. Yeah." I rubbed the back of my neck. Since I sleep in Bunker Nine all the time, I never usually know what's going on. But I'd heard of the incidents of the Aphrodite cabin. "I'll try to talk to her."

"Thanks, man," Jason said. We hung a little longer and played video games. Then he left. I try not to think, but now I was really thinking about what he'd said about Calypso.

There was something I had to do. I went outside and looked all over camp for Calypso. Eventually I found her with Piper's sister, Drew, doing their nails and gossiping. I heard this much from Calypso:

"-and Annabelle or whatever her name is, the other day she-"

Then Calypso noticed me. "Oh, hi babe! Drew here was just helping me with these. What do you think?" She showed me her nails. They were dark pink- magenta?- with tiny white and pink flowers. How they paint that, I have no idea.

"It's nice, Calypso," I half-lied. I am no expert in nails, but I did not like the magenta color. Maybe, like, orange or something, I don't know. She could've written the letters for T E A M L E O on her nails.

"Can we talk," I glanced at Drew, "alone?" Calypso smiled and said, "Sure, babe." She got up, brushed off her dress, and followed me to the edge of the woods. "So... I wanted to talk to you about something, " I said. "Look, you're cool and all, but...(you're not my type🤣)" I took a deep breath. "Calypso, I want to break up with you."

Her smile faded. "W-what do you mean?"

"What you heard. Come back and talk to me when you've got that attitude controlled. We're done."

Calypso teared up. "Fine! If that's what you want, then so be it! There are plenty of other hot guys out there who want me!"

She ran away sobbing. I didn't feel a shred of remorse. In fact, thinking back to my first day back, there was a certain daughter of Poseidon who probably hadn't had her camp tour, Bad Boy

Just then the conch shell sounded. I headed towards the dining pavilion for dinner. I'd tour her tomorrow.
