Chapter 10
Leo
I didn't feel sad or crushed when Calypso left like everyone thought I did. In fact, I was doing a happy dance in Bunker Nine. Man, who knew Calypso could be so annoying.
So the day after Calypso left, I was playing video games in Bunker Nine when there was a rap on the door. I opened it to reveal Y/N standing there, looking a bit tired. Why she'd come to see me, I didn't know, but I was glad she did.
"What's up," I said, trying to sound casual. The truth was, I really liked her. Even when I was with Calypso.
"Hi, Leo," she said. "I'm bored. Do you want to, um...hang out?"
"Sure!" I answered, a bit too quickly.
I let her in and she had her first proper look at Bunker Nine. There were sofas, TVs, random tools and even some socks all over the place. Y/N giggled looking at one neon orange pair, although I had a feeling she was hiding some bigger laughs in there. She sounded cute when she giggled. Irrelevant (catch the reference?).
I picked the orange socks up and felt something soft hit the back of my head. I turned to see Y/N standing there, smiling, one blue-green sock in her hand. She looked satisfied. I realized that the one in her hand was the exact same as the one on my head. I smiled evilly, picked a red sock from the ground up, and threw it at her, just missing her head. Her eyes widened, in a playful way. "Oh, no, you didn't," she said, bending down, not looking away from me, and picked up another pair. They were all clean, but they were on the ground because I just don't have the energy to pick them up. Or rather, I'm too lazy.
She threw both socks at me and I dodged, tossing a green-and-yellow sock at her, nailing her in the stomach. I was glad it was just a sock and not anything else, because if it was, Y/N probably wouldn't want anything to do with me again.
We got into a full-on throw stuff fight, throwing socks, pillows, t-shirts I'd found in my drawer, and other soft stuff. Eventually, we both ended up on one couch facing the TV, breathless and dying of laughter.
"That was fun," I said.
"What a brilliant observation, Sherlock Valdez," Y/N said, trying to catch her breath yet still laughing. When she finally did, she grabbed the remote off the armrest and switched the TV on, finding the Netflix. I didn't mind that she wasn't even asking, I think I was too busy staring at her. The way the colors on the TV reflected on her beautiful e/c eyes. (If you have brown eyes, they're my personal favorite type of eyes to stare into, because they're dark and deep. You can't stare into blue eyes and feel the deepness. If you don't, you're still beautiful.) The way she gave a small smile when she saw a movie or anything else she liked.
"Have you ever seen (favorite movie)?" she asked me. I'd only gotten this account about a week ago, so I shook my head no.
Her eyes widened and she flipped the movie on. It was a really good movie, I was sad when it ended. I wanted to find out what happened to (main character) after the events of the film.
"That was pretty good," I said. "You have good taste in movies."
"I get that a lot," she said. "Thanks."
-Time Skip brought to you by the fact that its hard to write long chapters and I'm excited to get to the action-
-One month later-
You
Everyone (and by everyone I mean 70% Piper) has been shipping me with Leo lately. I guess I can see why. We've gotten so close in that one month, I've almost forgotten the prophecy existed.
Almost.
I really hoped it wouldn't start around these golden times, it was February and tomorrow was Valentine's Day. Chiron had called my school and told them I'd transferred to somewhere else, so I wasn't really worried.
I knew that I would be Leo's Valentine because... well...
Dramatic Flashback
Yesterday, 2 PM
I was sitting in the strawberry fields, enjoying the flavor of the sweet berries when someone sat next to me.
"Hey, Y/N," said the unmistakable voice that could only belong to Leo Valdez.
"Hi, Leo," I said. If I'd liked him before, I liked him a lot more now, and I thought he liked me back. Little did I know I was right. I rested my head on his shoulder, as he sometimes let me do when we watched movies or rested after having a waterfight or doing any other exhausting stuff. Tonight, we had capture the flag, but I didn't know which team I was going to be on.
"Here's the scoop," he said. "We're on opposing teams in Capture the Flag tonight. I'm with Demeter, Dionysus, Nike, Iris, Hypnos, and Hermes on the red team. You're with the rest; Apollo, Athena, Hades, Zeus, which is just Jason, Ares, and Aphrodite."
"Who are the captains?" I asked.
"Hermes for us, Athena for you guys," Leo said. "How Ares and Athena ended up on the same team, I have no idea."
He did have a point.
"Well," I said, getting up and dusting off my hands, "thanks for the info. Hope you're ready to get beaten tonight."
"Wait," he said, grabbing my wrist. I turned to him.
"Y/N... do you wanna go to the Valentine's dance with me?" Leo asked, his face radish red.
I smiled. "Sure, Leo." I pulled my wrist gently away and walked off.
**End of flashback**
The Valentine's Dance was a big event in camp, and the Roman's would be showing up, too. I was really excited.
-Time Skip brought to you by my dad telling me to go to bed-
"I like this one," Annabeth said. She was wearing a floor-length sea-green dress and her hair was let down. She wore very light makeup at Piper's insistence. She held up a golden dress with a bow around the waist.
"I don't know," Hazel said. She was in a knee-length black sparkly dress. "This one's nice." She was pointing at a really short bright pink dress.
"How about this?" Piper said, holding up a (your idea of a perfect dress) dress. She herself wore a white ankle-length dress with a thin golden belt around the waist.
"I like Piper's," I decided. Piper smiled and handed me the dress and I went into the bathroom to change. Five minutes later I came out.
"Oh, you look so pretty!" Piper exclaimed. She sat me down in front of her mirror and did my hair, braiding it with flowers, and makeup.
"Amazing," Hazel said, clapping her hands.
"It's great, Y/N," Annabeth agreed.
I smiled at myself in the mirror. "Thanks, guys."
