Chapter Five
"Where is she?" Kakashi mumbled to himself in frustration as he searched for his last student: Kaiko. She was nowhere to be found. Of course there were trails of her chakra all over the forest, but each one led to one dead end after another; be it a waterfall, or a giant hole, or a blocked off cave. One thing was for sure, she knew how to hide. Kakashi's head snapped up as a sound caught his ear. He stopped all movement and listened carefully, eyes narrowing in concentration. It sounded like... flames... He cursed, jumping away just as a giant wave of lava crashed down into the forest where he once stood. He barely had time to dodge as she suddenly appeared in front of him with a kunai in her hand. Her kunai bore down on his shuriken just inches from his neck with incredible strength. She disappeared again, reappearing behind him and kicking him down. He hit the ground hard, creating a crater around himself. His hand moved up to reveal his sharingan, but he didn't have time to lift his headband before he was airborne again. His back hit a tree, and before he could move away, a kunai was centimeters from his neck. She had the kunai lodged into the tree, just barely away from his neck. Her hand was still gripping the kunai, her feet were pinning his wrists to the tree so that it looked like she was crouched over him vertically. She reached down to get the bells, but just as her finger brushed one of them, she was head-butted and thrown off of him. She felt a pressure in her neck as black ebbed at the edges of her vision, just before she was punched in the gut, and her world became black.

"KAKASHI-SENSEI!!! WHAT WAS ALL THAT NOISE? WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU, WHY ARE YOU ALL BEAT UP AND WHY IS KAIKO KNOCKED OUT??!?!!?" Naruto shot off question after question, overwhelming the already shell shocked sensei. He opened his mouth to start asking questions again, but his mouth was covered by Sakura's hand as she glared daggers at him. He clamped his mouth shut as she slowly removed her hand. Kakashi dumped Kaiko unceremoniously onto the ground next to Sasuke.
"Welp," he said cheerfully, smiling under his mask, "I guess there's really no need to send you all back to the academy." He finished.
"Wait. So that means..." Naruto trailed off as Sasuke smirked triumphantly.
"I just passed out the entire time. Do we get points for passing out?" Sakura's dumb question fell on def ears.
"Yep, you should all be dropped from the program permanently." His smile had faded at this point, and the gravity of his statement was settling in.
"Wait sensei! You can't do that!" Naruto shouted.
"Oh? But can't I?" Kakashi dodged, pinning Sasuke under his foot when he lunged.
"Don't stand on Sasuke-kun like he's some bug!!" Sakura exclaimed desperately.
"None of you got the point of this test!" Everybody froze at Kakashi's words.
"Point?"
"Yes Naruto, there was a point!"
"Well that's what I've been meaning to ask you sensei. I wanted to ask you what the point was in the beginning."
Sakura said, trying to be smart.
"You think I'd just tell you?! Come on! It's a basic genin principle!" Kakashi growled in frustration. Nobody replied.
"Teamwork!" He shouted, exasperated.
"None of you think like genin, you think like brats! You, Naruto, you didn't think anything through and you rushed into the fight! And you tried to eat the food before anybody else! Sakura! You ignored Naruto, who was right in front of you and instead chased after Sasuke who ignored you. And you, Sasuke! You were the worst of all! You thought you were better than everybody else, like your teammates were beneath you! You don't think like ninja at all! You think like brats!!" Kakashi ranted.
"Well what about Kaiko, sensei?" Sakura pointed out. Kakashi sighed.
"I don't even know where to begin with her. Besides, it's not like she's awake to hear this."

"You guys can eat, but don't feed Naruto any, it's his punishment for trying to eat."
I awoke to muffled voices and high pitched squeals. As I sat up, I received an array of different looks ranging from disdain, to worry, to annoyance. I didn't bother waiting for anybody to speak. I got up, and simply walked away.
