Chapter 01:
Blue aura precisely and continuously flowed around the white chalk as it connected with the black board, emitting clacking sounds and forming words then sentences.
Students seated behind their assigned desks took notes.
"It is said that First Emperor Eirik divided our Amell Kingdom which we know today from the Dark Continent and brought it into Lake Mobius (where humanity lives)." The history teacher's blue aura pulled down the map in front of the black board and he pointed from the Amell Kingdom to the Dark Continent. "This is why our lands and waters are taming with spirit beasts. This is also a reason why our Amell borders are closed off from the outside world, rarely to allow others to enter or leave."
"Wait sensei." A new male student who couldn't be more than ten raised his hand and inquired."You said one of the reasons our borders are closed off are due to the spirit beasts. Don't the outside world have spirit beasts?" He had to know the answer to this query for a test he was going to have with another teacher.
"No they do not, Jones-kun." The instructor answered and went on to explain why. "You see 'spirit beasts' is a term that is only used here for the beasts/organisms who have the capabilities to wield nen. And unlike us, a high percentage of general public from the outside world have no common knowledge of nen or how to use it. Do you see why it is one of the reasons why our borders are closed off?"
He nodded his head as a reply.
Since most of the general public of the outside world didn't know about nen and how to put it to usage, if spirit beasts were to walk on their lands and swim in their waters, they would encounter lots of dangers and deaths, because they don't know about nen and how to utilize it to defend themselves. They would mark the spirit beasts as high level threats.
A girl with neck length curly dark blonde hair who was sharing her history textbook with Kevin Jones ears had perked up with interest, hearing about the outside world. She had heard from her mother who had the privilege to travel outside the Amell Kingdom, that the outside was slightly different then the Amell Kingdom, because they were not reliant on nen to go about daily life.
She was intrigued about a place that didn't relied on nen. How exactly did they go about life?
The redhead educator glanced at his wrist watch to see that it was soon time for the bell to ring to end school. "Okay class. This will end today's lesson and we'll continue when we next meet. What I am giving you now are Hunter Exam application forms that I will need you to fill out and bring back for you to be able to take exam that is going to be held in this school in two weeks time." His blue aura surrounded the stack of papers and an application landed in each student's hand.
Then the bells chimed, signalling the cessation for school today.
The ten year olds packed their bags and made way to depart from the classroom.
In the halls of Oakesley Private Nen Academy, the blonde girl placed some books in her locker from her bag and vice versa. Closing it, she said. "I wonder how the Hunter Exam is in the outside world."
"Wouldn't they be the same?" Kevin questioningly guessed.
To him, it was an other national exam. To other Amellians except Adira, it was like any other national exam. They needed it on their application forms to get into a good college/university or job resumes to find a decent paying occupation and to survive in this society. This was why citizens of the Amell Kingdom took the Hunter Exam. One would rarely find Amellians who had taken, because they had genuinely desired to be a Hunter.
The two commenced to walk.
The teal eyed girl shook her head. "I think it would be somewhat different and I heard from my mom, the oldest someone could be to take the Hunter Exam in the outside is at least twelve. And the Hunters come to the Amell Schools to hold the exam, but the participants of the outside who want to take the Hunter Exam have to find the designated site to take it."
"I don't think a two years age difference and where one takes the exam matter." Kevin stated, putting his hands in his school pants' pockets. "Besides we wouldn't know how it's different, because only high ranking nobles and the royal family are allowed to leave the kingdom."
Kevin's last statement was a fact. Even those high ranking nobles possessed a hard time clearing papers to travel to the outside.
Stopping in front of the outside lockers, the two went to their individual ones.
Placing her hand against the identification pad of the locker, she released her red aura.
"Aura Recognized." The locker robotically voiced.
There was a clicking sound and the small locker's door swung open. She retrieved her hover board as well did Kevin.
Jumping onto them, they allowed their nen to flow into the nen cube that powered the hover board, allowing it to fly.
Levitating in air, the two began their journey home.
"Are you coming over by me, today?" Kevin asked.
She shook her head. "I can't. My mom messaged me to head home right after school. She has something she wants to talk with me about."
Hearing this, Kevin thought about how he had never been to his friend's house, but she to his. Maybe because it had only been two weeks since he had been transferred to Oakesley. "Hey, where exactly do you live?"
"And this is where we cut off." The blonde accurately placed more nen into her hover board, causing the speed in which it had been flying at to greatly increase. It would take at least an hour and thirty minutes for her to reach home at the speed rate she was going.
Avoiding other children and teenagers who were on their hover boards too, she took turns and different roads to finally end up at the immense gates of Drake Estate within ninety minutes.
Bringing the hovering board lower to the ground, she hopped off.
A butler appeared of the marquess house appeared in front of her. "Welcome home, Lady Adira."
Adira smiled, giving the butler her hover board and school bag he was holding his hand out for. "I'm home. Do you know where mom is?"
"Lady Charisse is in her study awaiting you, Lady Adira." He politely divulged.
"Thank you." Adira entered.
