Curse of the golden master

The ninja had returned to New Ninjago City, with Cole and Kaya walking next to eachother. Kaya turned to him. "What was our relationship?" She asked and Cole turned to her. "We, we were a couple. Together for two years." He said and Kaya sighed. "I'm sorry for not remembering anything. I bet we had great memories." Cole nodded. "Yeah. We did." A saddened expression appeared on his face and Kaya felt guilty for not remembering anything.

Suddenly they appeared infront of a big wall of vehicles. "What happened here?" Jay asked and Nya sighed. "No power, that's what happened." Zane turned to the others. "Are we too late?" He asked before they stepped on a tripwire, alerting the citizens that was dressed in apocalypse clothing. "Outsiders must answer to the Postman!" One of them said while pointing at the postman. "Return to sender!" He exclaimed and the citizens cheered, making the ninja confused.

Cyrus soon rolled up, smiling at the ninja when he saw them. "Ah, you finally made it. Don't mind the savages. Since power went out, everyone here has grown a bit bored. Their imagination knows no bounds." He chuckled before noticing Pixal. "Pixal, amazing! You're...powered." The postman glared at him. "You need to stay in character, Borg. This is no fun if we're not all committed." Cyrus groaned. "Oh, I'll have you committed if you don't all leave us at once. Now shoo!" The citizens rolled their eyes and walked off.

"We have real problems to address. Pixal, what's powering you?" Pixal smiled towards Zane. "Zane gave me half of his heart." He said while holding Zane's hand. Cyrus saw how they smiled at eachother and smiled. "Thank you, Zane. I am greatly indebted. Unfortunately, the hard drive was stolen with the digital imprint of the Overlord. You'll be unable to erase him with your techno blades until we find it." He sighed before Jay smirked. "Aw, don't worry, we already had a little run in with the red-handed suspect. Or, should I say white-handed? He left behind a white scale. Get this, he's serpentine." He said as Nya held up the scale.

"Lucky for us, the last serpentine were sealed within a tomb right under the city, so it's about time we pay them a little visit." She said and Kaya stepped back. "You better go without me. I don't remember anything about being a ninja. I won't be able to help." Cyrus looked at her in confusion. "What happened?" Cole sighed. "She fought Tech Wu and got a massive blow to her head. She don't remember anything from beyond the blacksmith." Cyrus nodded.

"Don't worry Cole. I think I know how to help her." He turned to Kaya. "You can come with me. I think I can help you with your memories." Kaya smiled and nodded. "Thank you. I appreciate it." She said as the others opened up to the sewers. "Approach with caution. I've also lost a few valuable prototypes. He may be armed and extremely dangerous." Cyrus warned them as they headed into the sewers. "We know, and uh, ahem, just for the record, when those prototypes are made available to the public, could you let me know? They're just the coolest gadgets." Jay said before he headed down.

Cyrus soon looked at Pixal. "Uh, Pixal, where are you going? Now that my assistant has an unlimited power supply, there's an infinite amount of good to be done." He said and Pixal turned towards Zane. "Go. You two need catching up." Pixal smiled and gave him a small kiss before heading towards Cyrus. The others soon headed down the sewers.

"Hope Kaya gets better." Cole sighed and Nya smiled up at him. "Don't worry Cole." Jay nodded. "Yeah, it's Kaya we're talking about. She would never let her memories disappear forever." Cole smiled a little. "You're right I shouldn't worry. I know my girlfriend. She'll get better." He said before they reached the bottom and held up glow sticks. "Let's keep our eyes peeled. Our mystery suspect could be anywhere down here." Zane informed before they walked through the sewers. "Serpentine. Never thought I'd see them again." Nya said and Cole nodded. "Yeah. Kinda nostalgic thinking about them." They all nodded in agreement.

Stranger was in his secret base, planning on collecting a source for the nindroids. "We know where the golden ninja is, so why are we doing nothing about it? I must escape this wretched digital prison!" Overlord complained. "Patience. The golden ninja won't go down without a fight, and we've already depleted our Electro-Cobrai. Before we take his golden power, we need more power of our own." The stranger pointed out and Overlord growled. "Then find more. Once I become physical again, and rid the scourge that is the ninja, I will walk Ninjago with the power to rule this world, and beyond!" He exclaimed. "Don't worry. I'm one step ahead of you." The stranger said while holding up a pamphlet for the Ninjago City Aquarium.

At Hiroshi's Labyrinth was Lloyd and Garmadon walking. "How anyone got through this jungle is beyond me." Lloyd said and Garmadon let out a small chuckle. "Hiroshi's Labyrinth. Legend says no one has ever escaped its deadly maze except for Hiroshi himself. But the maze is no match for your powers. This is the perfect place to hide from the Overlord's clutches." Lloyd nodded. "You're right. But I do miss the others. I wish I could help them." Garmadon gently hugged him.

"I know. But your golden power only strengthens his cause. It needs to be protected, honored. Evil forces will seek it, try to take it for their own. It seduces. Even your friends may one day covet it." Lloyd looked at him in shock. "My friends would never hurt me." He is exclaimed. "He who holds the power has a tremendous obligation. You must be prepared to handle this journey alone. Even without me one day." Garmadon said and Lloyd sighed. "Yeah, I know." He said and Garmadon chuckled. "Keep your chin up, son. Legend also states there is a jewel inside the maze, the most beautiful oasis no one has ever seen before. Perhaps we will be the first." They continued to walk.

In the sewers had the ninja arrived at the tomb of the stone army. But their eyes widened when they saw that the door was open. "Tomb of the stone army. It's been sealed since the serpentine were trapped here." Nya said and Zane pointed towards the door. "It appears the seal has been opened." He said before they heard whistling behind them. They turned and saw Skales that jumped. "Aah! Oh, it's you. Been awhile." He said and they all calmed down.

"Skales. How did you break free?" Cole asked and Skales sighed. "Well, during the final battle, a golden light hit the door and broke it, freeing us. But we decided not to bother with you people anymore. Since it never did anything good for us. Now, why are you here?" He asked and Jay walked up to him. "We're looking for a hard drive. And we have evidence that one of you have it." Skales scoffed. "Ridiculous. Why would we get involved with your problems again? We won't risk it." Suddenly a young hypnobrai walked out of the tomb. "Daddy? Are you okay?" He asked and a pink hypnobrai walked out aswell. "Stay inside, Skales Jr." She told the young boy

The ninja was shocked. "Skales Jr.? Uh, you have a son? And he's already so big?" Jay asked and Skales slithered up to Skales Jr. and the pink snake named Selma. "We've been busy since you left us. And we prefer to keep it that way. About Jr's age. We serpentine age quicker than you humans. Aswell as live longer." Skales Jr. hugged Skales. "Is this about the golden master? Is he going to hurt us?" Skales hugged him. "That is only a story, son. They were just leaving." He glared at the ninja.

"Golden master? Is this about Lloyd?" Zane asked and Skales sighed again in annoyence. "Like you, we have our own legends. But I guess in ours, you are the bad guys." Nya looked at him. "What legend?" She asked. "They have a right to know, dear. If we're going to shed a new skin, we must open our home to others." Selma said while wrapping her tail around his. He smiled at her and nodded. "You're right as always my love. Let's go, surface dwellers. If you'd like to hear of the curse of the golden master, follow me." He gestured to the ninja to follow inside.

At the aquarium, Dareth was leading the students. "We may not have power, but we still have sharks!" The curator said as the students ran inside. "All right, everyone. Stay together, stay together. Come on now." Dareth calmed them down. Brad just pouted. "Why do we have to do our field trip at the aquarium? Can't we go to the Toxic Bogs or anywhere else not so lame?" He asked and Sally turned to him. "Because we don't wanna get disintegrated in the acid ponds. Or get hurt." She pointed out and Brad rolled his eyes.

"And until your regular teachers get back from saving the world, I'm in charge, and I have the responsibilities of making sure nothing bad happens to you. Now, single file." Dareth said as they all walked together and looked around. He turned to Sally. "Did I ever tell you I am fluent in the language of the sea?" Sally giggled. "Great, Mr. Dareth. I mean, brown ninja." Dareth smirked before they continued to walk around. Soon he turned towards the guard. "Ahem. Excuse me. Which way to the Electro-Cobrai exhibit? I hear it's shocking." The guard pointed towards the exhibit.

"All right, all right, my precious minnows. Come on. Follow me." Dareth said before the students followed him, not noticing the stranger following them. "Hey, hey, you! Come here." The quard exclaimed before the stranger turned invisible. His eyes widened before he pressed a button, but it didn't go off thanks to it not being any electricity. "Hm? Alarm! Alarm! Alarm!" The group turned to him in confusion. "What is it?" Sally asked and Dareth stood infront of the kids protectively. "The sound of danger. Huddle near, child." He suddenly saw the stranger removing the lid to the drain.

"Hey, you're not one of my students." Dareth exclaimed and the stranger grinned. "No. No, I'm not." With that, he blew a whistle that made a high-pitched sound. The sound made all thanks break, filling the aquarium with water. "Hold on, minnows! Hold on!" Dareth said as the students held on tight. Suddenly he saw Sally in the water, with a shark heading right towards her. "Help! Help!" She cried out before Dareth swam towards her. He quickly pulled her to safety before turning towards that shark. It was about to attack before he stopped it and did various sounds, scaring the shark away. The students cheered for him before they got to safety.

Sally hugged him. "Thank you for saving me. You really can talk to them. What did you say?" She asked and Dareth smiled. "Told him, that if he touched any of you. I'll serve him up with soy sauce." He said proudly as Sally just giggled. The Electro-Cobrai swam into the drain and gathered in a tank. A grin appeared on the stranger's face. "The heist is complete. We now have enough power to go after the golden ninja." He said and Overlord grinned. "Good." They both laughed.

In the stone army tomb, was the ninja following Skales and his family. Seeing all young snakes. "After a rather humbling scrap with those indestructible stone warriors, we've made amends with our warring past and found ways to help better ourselves." Skales said before Jay saw some snakes with hair. "I didn't know snakes could have hair." Skales smirked. "It is a rare occurrence. But it happens sometimes." Jay shrugged as they continued.

"And you're sure you all turned good? Because the scale we found says otherwise. Fangpyre snakes have white scales right." Cole asked and Skales nodded. "A few. May I see that scale?" Nya handed him the scale and Skales shook his head. "It might be white. But it's not from a fangpyre. The shape don't match. And it seems to have been bleached. I can't see what snake it belongs to." Nya sighed. "So it might be a never before seen snake species?" She asked and Skales nodded. "Could be. No, we have no desire to meddle in the affairs above. As you can see, we stick to our own. We only want what's best for the next generation. Have a seat. You could learn a thing or two about your beloved golden master. By them the way I see that your two short. Where's Lloyd and the red one." He asked while wrapping his arms around his family.

"Lloyd and Garmadon is hiding, thank to Overlord wanting his powers." Nya said. "And Kaya isn't in the right condition." Cole said with a sigh. They all soon gathered around a fireplace, then Acidicus slithered up to them. "Hello, hatchlings, and camouflaged land dwellers. Do you seek to learn about the curse of the golden master?" He asked and the group nodded before he spat in the fire, making images appere. "When the first spinjitzu master created Ninjago, deep in the ground, he created the serpentine. Since the first dawn, our elders knew of the curse of the golden master, when he who had the powers equal to the first spinjitzu master would rise and usher in the last of the setting suns. With no equal adversary, his power will go unmatched. His destructive rule will change the face of the world, and he will not stop until every man, woman, and serpentine are enslaved under his control." The ninja got shocked, wondering if this was really about Lloyd.

"The serpentine tried to warn the land dwellers, but they wouldn't listen. They thought we were the enemy, though we were only trying to prevent the prophecy of the golden master's terrible reign. After the great devourer failed to scare the unbelievers below ground, it is we who retreated beneath the soil, promising to never return, even now that the end is inevitable." Acidicus ended the story, leaving the group with more questions.

In Borg's tower, Cyrus connected Pixal to the machines. They started up and were working. "First patch into the mainframe...success! Suppress bandwidth for wider connection...we have power! By glory's grace, my office has clean, untouched-by-evil power! Thank you. Now we can use this to track the nindroid presence, and they won't see us coming." He said and Pixal smiled. Cyrus then rolled over to Kaya with some sort of helmet. "Um, what's that?" She asked and Cyrus smiled gently. "Don't worry, it's just my memory healer. It won't completely restore your memories. But it will store them in your brain untill they're ready to come back." He put it on her head. "Thanks, I guess." Kaya said before it started up. A warm feeling went through her body as she felt her memories gathering.

Pixal looked at Cyrus before walking up to him. "Sir, you created me and gave me life. I belong to you. Yet, Zane saved my life. When I was with him I felt...a connection. I felt...free." He said and Cyrus gave him a gentle smile. "Pixal, remember this. You belong to no one. If you want to be with Zane, then you should be with him. And, you don't have to call me sir. You can call me father." Pixal smiled. "Thank you. Father." They both hugged, when the alarm suddenly went off.

"What? Nindroid power signatures. This is impossible. It says they're right here. 12 feet, 8 feet, this makes no sense." Cyrus said before Pixal realized something. "Unless they're beneath us." They both looked at eachother in shock. Kaya saw the screen and grabbed her necklace as in instinct. "Please stay safe." She said with a concerned voice.

The others was talking to eachother after hearing the prophecy. "I can't believe they think Lloyd could become the golden master." Cole said and Jay shrugged. "Well, he is the son of Lord Garmadon." Nya wondered about the scale. "What I want to know is, if none of them took the hard drive, who else could it be?" She said before they heard a snake scream. "We're under attack! Protect the young!" He shouted before the other snakes screamed and got their kids. That's when the ninja saw the nindroids. "Nindroids!" Cole exclaimed and Jay sighed. "Ugh! These toasters never know when to quit." Nya took up some sais. "I can't believe I'm saying this, but... protect the serpentine!" She said before she and the others went off to fight the nindroids.

Zane saw how Skales was being surrounded, so he quickly ran towards them and knocked them back. "Never thought I'd thank a ninja, but. Thank you." Skales said before heading to his family and lead them to safety. Cryptor saw them and was about to shoot them, when Zane tackled him to the ground. "Don't think so." He said before Cryptor threw him against a wall. The others struggled to keep the nindroids  back. "Ugh. If we could figure out what powered them, this would all be a whole lot easier." Jay said before Cole saw the Electro-Cobrai tanks on the nindroids's backs. He quickly jumped behind one and unplugged it, causing it to stop working.

"Hey! They're powered by some sort of eel thing inside their backs!" He exclaimed and the others nodded before they all started to unplug them. Afterwards the snakes cheered for them. Suddenly one of the nindroids  got controlled by Overlord and grabbed Zane's foot. "Foolish nindroid, you are helping the wrong side." He said and Zane scoffed. "Overlord! You'll never succeed. Not if we have anything to say about it." Overlord just laughed. "I already have. You've unknowingly led me straight to the golden ninja. And this was merely a diversion to keep you busy." Zane quickly unplugged him.

Skales slithered up to them and sighed. "The boy holds too much power. I fear the curse of the golden master is upon us." Acidicus nodded. "The dawn of the end of times is near." Nya turned to them. "We have to get to Lloyd before they do. Are you sure you won't help us?" She asked and Skales shook his head. "I'm sorry. We made an oath never to return to the surface. Good luck. Oh, one more thing. The scale. I just figured out what snake it belongs to. An anacondrai." He said, making the ninja's eyes widen. "Anacondrai!?" They exclaimed.

Lloyd and Garmadon had arrived to the oasis. "The jewel of the labyrinth. It's..." Garmadon said before Lloyd interupted him. "The most beautiful thing I've ever seen." He earned a nod from his father. "Yes. Beauty can be born even in darkness." Suddenly buzzing sounds was heard as trees got cut down. That's when they saw the nindroids. "They've found you! You must leave! Go! I said leave!" Garmadon said when Tech Wu appeared. "Why must we always be on opposite sides, brother? I made an oath not to fight, but I'll still defeat you." Lloyd hesitantly summoned his green ninja bike and drove off, leaving Garmadon fighting Tech Wu.

Nindroids were following him, but he managed to shake them off before reaching a cliff. He stopped when the mechdragon appeared infront of him. His eyes widened when he saw Tech Wu holding Garmadon captured. "Dad!" He shouted before a mechanical snake wrapped around him, canceling out his powers. "My power's gone." He the saw the stranger heading towards him and saw how a white tail poke out of the cloak. The stranger grinned before removing the cloak completely, revealing Pythor.

"Hello, old chum." Lloyd's eyes widened. "Pythor? I thought you were-" Pythor interupted him. "Hmm, gone? Actually, I suffered a worse fate. Digested in the bowels of the devourer. It can wreak havoc on one's complexion. Fortunately for Wu, he escaped unscathed." He said and lead Lloyd onto the mechdragon. "Finally, the golden ninja is mine. Now the transformation can be complete." Overlord laughed as Lloyd looked at Garmadon. "I can't do this alone. I failed you, Father." Garmadon gave him a comforting smile.

"It's okay, son. It is I who failed-" Overlord interupted him. "He is no longer of importance to me. Throw him overboard." Tech Wu nodded and push Garmadon into the endless sea. "No! Father!" Lloyd cried out as they flew off. Luckily, Garmadon managed to get to the surface and looked after the mechdragon. "Be strong, son. I will find you. I will find you!" He said with a determined voice.
