Weeks had passed since Malinda saved Merula from the ice room, and Malinda spent half of those weeks trying to talk Merula out of searching for the cursed vaults, which failed. Malinda was sitting at the Slytherin table in the Great Hall for breakfast. She then turned her head when she saw Merula walking towards the table in the corner of her eyes, when she did she saw two other slytherins with her.

( A/n: What a team... A lovable idiot, a scary girl, a giant cinnamon roll, and Merula. )

Merula and the two then sat down beside Malinda, who had a confused expression on her face.

Malinda: ( to Merula: ) Who are...

Merula: ( to Malinda, a bit rudely: ) Burns, meet Barnaby and Ismelda. They're going to help us look for the vaults. So stop slouching your back and sit straight. ( to Ismelda and Barnaby: ) Ismelda, Barnaby, meet Malinda Burns.

Malinda: ( sits up straight like Merula asked, showing that she was about a foot taller than them ) ( to Barnaby and Ismelda, with a soft kind smile, showing her sharp canines:) Hello...

Barnaby: Wow, the rumors were true, you are a small giant.

Ismelda: ( with a smile: ) And you really do have claws and sharp teeth.

Malinda stopped smiling after Ismelda pointed out her sharp canines and claw-like nails.

Merula: Yes, yes, she has a unique appearance. ( to Malinda, quietly: ) Did you do the research for vanished staircases or Ice knights like I asked?

Malinda: ( sighs ) Yes, but there's nothing about ice knights, but I found some descriptions on staircases in Hogwarts that seem to have vanished.

Merula: Good, we will begin our search for the vanished stairs as soon as possible after our classes.

Malinda: Merula...

Merula: Yes, Burns?

Malinda: There are over a hundred and forty two known staircases in the castle... I'm pretty sure we won't be finding the staircase until at least our second year.

Barnaby: That's a lot of staircases...

Ismelda: ( to Barnaby, sarcastically: ) You don't say.

Merula groaned in frustration in response.

( Slight Time Skip )

Malinda was walking to class when Rowan accidentally bumped into her, the Ravenclaw girl wasn't paying attention to her surroundings, making Rowan fall backwards and making her drop her books as her glasses had fallen off her face. Malinda looked down at Rowan with a apologetic expression and quickly helped the girl pick up the books she'd drop.

Rowan: ( not realizing it was Malinda that was helping her and that she had bumped into: ) I am so sorry, I wasn't paying attention to where I was going.

Malinda: It's alright.

Once Rowan got all her books, Malinda found where Rowan's glasses had landed and she picked them up for Rowan.

Malinda: Here, let me help you put your glasses back on.

Rowan: Thanks, again I am so sorry.

Malinda then put the glasses back on Rowan's face, and Rowan's eyes widened when she saw who had helped her.

Malinda: ( with a kind smile: ) There. And, it was no big deal, you didn't mean to bump into me.

Rowan: ( is surprised by Malinda's kindness ) Uh-huh.

Malinda: Sorry about my friend Merula's behavior towards you, she's a bit... hot tempered.-

The camera zooms out to reveal that Merula was waiting for Malinda at the end of the hall.

Merula: ( shouts: ) Burns! Stop talking to that Ravenclaw! You're going to make me late for class!!

Malinda: Oh, speaking of Merula. ( to Rowan, with a kind smile: ) Sorry, I have to go. It was nice talking to you.

Rowan watched, speechless by Malinda's kindness, not expecting the tall Slytherin to be kind, as Malinda walked to Merula and the two began walking to class together.

Rowan: ( thoughts: ) Maybe...she isn't as scary as she seems...
