8 - Incredible Speed

It took Yoongi his all to repair what he did to Jungkook. He still didn't get what was it that he did wrong but he knew he wanted him and the three boys to get along well as before. He never did mention Hana again in front of Jungkook. He didn't understand why him being curious about Hana made them think he liked her.

The day came when finally Team B was done with their project. Jungkook had told Hoseok and Jin hyung he was going to ask her out today. Yoongi knew this from Hoseok. Jungkook was still very careful of mentioning Hana in front of Yoongi.

Right before noon, Yoongi called Jungkook to his office.

"You called me boss?" Jungkook peeked at his door.

"Yeah come in."

Jungkook sat down across from Yoongi. "Is there anything I can help you with?"

Yoongi rested his elbows on his desk and clasped his hands, resting his chin on them. "You've decided where to take Hana for lunch?"

"Eh? Oh... Yeah. That Chinese restaurant we went to last month." Jungkook eyed Yoongi suspiciously.

"Good good. Take your time. You and Hana. You don't have to rush back to the office. We're done with the projects anyways and we still have time before we proceed with the next one."

Jungkook's eyes softened. "Thanks hyung." He was biting his lower lip before continuing. "Hyung, I'm sorry I avoided you these past weeks..." Jungkook hung his head low.

Yoongi smiled. "That's okay. I was wrong as well. I didn't mean to make you feel like I was interested in her that way because I'm not."

"Yeah I know. I was just... not confident." The maknae rubbed his palms on his jeans-clad thighs. "I don't think she will say yes."

Yoongi wanted to say otherwise so bad but he knew not to give too much hope to the youngest. "Hey, I think you're very brave for wanting to confess. I've never done that before. I probably will never. I don't think I'm cool enough to say 'Hey lets get together! No? Okay cool!'"

Jungkook laughed. "Yeah. I'm okay if noona says no. I just wanted to take my chance."

Yoongi was waiting in his office with Hoseok and Jin hyung. They wanted to be there for the youngest if it went south with the confession.

Yoongi was at his chair, slouching with his elbows on his knees. Hoseok was sitting across from him while Jin hyung was lying on the couch with his arm thrown over his eyes. Yoongi knew he wasn't asleep, being as nervous as they were.

When the door was opened, Yoongi expected either of two things - Jungkook smiling so broadly that his upper lip will disappear and his left dimple will deepen, or Jungkook close to tears and will definitely cry when he started talking. He had hoped for the former.

"Hyung..." Jungkook closed the door and started sobbing.

"Shit." Jin hyung sat up, motioning for the maknae to sit next to him on the couch which he did.

Hoseok was quiet, not sure what he was supposed to say.

"What did she say?" Yoongi asked.

Jungkook mumbled something through his tears that Yoongi wasn't sure if he heard it right. "She's married?!"

Jungkook nodded.

"Dude, in her application was she married?" Yoongi asked Hoseok.

"No she wasn't! I don't think she got married while working here either. She never took any days off."

"Unless it was on one of the weekends." Jin hyung guessed.

"No!" Jungkook took a deep breath to calm his sobbing self. "I didn't say she's married. I said SHE WAS MARRIED!"

Everyone stopped talking. It went deafeningly quiet for a few seconds before Yoongi cleared his throat and spoke. "Jungkook ah, I don't think being married before should be any problem..." he said gently.

"It doesn't matter to me. But noona said she didn't want to date anymore. Nor did she want to get married again."

"Oh dear." Jin hyung caressed the youngest's back while he was slumping with his face in his hands, sobbing softly now.

Yoongi's heart sank at Jungkook's last sentence. Nor did she want to get married again. Why did his heart hurt so much at that?

They were crushed too, seeing the maknae so brokenhearted. They could foresee the weeks to come would be depressing for all of them. Yoongi hoped Hana wouldn't make things even more awkward.

They didn't know how to make him fell better. Yoongi wondered how long it will take Jungkook to mend his broken heart.

.....

"HYUNG! I AM IN LOVE!"

Well that wasn't long.

Four days after he was rejected by Hana, Jungkook came crashing through Hoseok's office's door, which resulted in both Hoseok and Jin hyung to jump from their seats, hands clutching at their hearts.

"Don't do that!" Jin hyung scolded the young boy.

"Sorry." He beamed. "I am in love."

Hoseok looked at Yoongi and Yoongi looked at Jin Hyung while Jin hyung was just still massaging his chest.

"Hana?" Yoongi asked carefully.

"What? No! I'm over noona. This time it's real."

"Who is it?" Hoseok sat back in his chair, now feeling calmer.

"You know the bibimbap restaurant we always go to?"

"Uh-huh." Yoongi answered.

"Yeah there's this waitress who works there. Don't know if you've noticed her before but I'm pretty sure you would have cause who wouldn't since she is the cutest loveliest person ever and—"

"Jungkook ah stop! You're rambling. Take a deep breath. Good. Now speak slower." Yoongi reminded the boy.

"Okay. Sorry. Well the waitress there, her name's Lee Ji Eun. She is so fair and her face is so small! She is so small! You should see her hands! They're so—"

"Small?" Hoseok completed Jungkook's sentence.

"Yes!"

The rest of the boys laughed. A part of Yoongi felt relieved that he was over the heartbreak but he wondered if it was too soon for Jungkook. Then again, that boy was always jumping from one hobby to another, so it sort of made sense if he could fall in love with another person that fast.

"You've confessed yet?" Jin hyung asked.

"Not yet. But she has! She confessed to me first. We're going out tomorrow."

"Wow. Good for you!" Yoongi smiled.

"Yeah. I'm sure this is the one." Jungkook sighed dreamily.

"Okay lover boy. Where are you going for the date?" Hoseok asked.

"Movie, lunch, then the arcade."

"Cool. Have fun!" Jin hyung squealed with joy. All of the older men were just happy Jungkook seemed brighter and back to his old self.

"Hyung." Jungkook looked at Yoongi with a gentle smile. "I'm okay now."

"I know. I can see." Yoongi answered but was unsure where this was going.

"Which means, you can try your luck."

"Try my luck at what?" He looked at Jin hyung and Hoseok as well. But they were all looking and nodding at him, as if encouraging him to do something.

"At asking noona out."

"What?"

"Who knows. Maybe she'll say yes to you. We all know you like her."

"Guys, I'm with Ye Jin."

"You didn't deny it though." Hoseok said and Yoongi immediately understood what he meant.

Shit.

"I got a question for you, hyung." Hoseok chipped in.

Yoongi was relieved he was changing the flow of the conversation. "What?"

"Jin hyung, cover Jungkook's ears." The eldest immediately did so and Jungkook tried to struggle but was given a glare by Hoseok which made him stop moving. "You slept with Ye Jin yet?"

Yoongi's jaw just dropped with the question. "What?"

"I was just wondering. You've never gone past a week before sleeping with your date, that is if you date her long enough to even last a week."

Yoongi frowned trying to understand where this was going.

"Why haven't you slept with Ye Jin yet? It's been what, two months? What? Are you saving it for the wedding?"

Yoongi laughed out loud. "What are you talking about? We've been super busy. I have been super busy."

"And? This is not the first time you've been busy and you've always had time for your sex buddies before. So why not Ye Jin?"

"Well, I don't know. It just never came to mind. What are you saying?" Yoongi started to feel offended with the questions he didn't know how to answer.

"I have two theories. One," Hoseok pointed his forefinger up, "you really like Ye Jin that much that you want to treasure her. Two, you want to do those things with someone else, and not Ye Jin."

Yoongi didn't answer. His mind involuntarily went back to him and Hana's almost-kiss in the elevator weeks ago and those questionable moments when he felt like kissing her out of the blue.  Him and Ye Jin not sleeping together yet was merely because he was busy. Wasn't it...?

"Who comes to your mind right now?" Jin hyung asked, his hands still were covering Jungkook's ears and the maknae was getting annoyed so he put his hands down. Jungkook rubbed his ears.

"Nobody." Yoongi answered but he knew they could see he was lying.

Hoseok smirked. "I can take a guess."

"Don't." Yoongi said quickly. "I don't think this conversation is going anywhere. I got work to do." With that he got up and left the room and went to his own office.

Yoongi sat in his chair and thought hard. He didn't know why it felt so uncomfortable talking about him and Hana. He knew he didn't like her the way Jungkook did before. He barely knew her.

What he knew was he wanted her to be happy when they had the party. He wanted her to be safe so he asked Jin hyung to drive her home whenever needed to. She's one of his employee. He needed to take care of her, right? He wanted to breathe in her scent all the time and he was planning to ask her the name of her lotion's brand. But that was because it smelled familiar. He wanted to know all of her. Because perhaps they could be friends.

He wanted to know what her relationship with that Taehyungi was. He wanted to know why that boy could go into her hotel room just like that. He wanted to kiss her. But do friends do this? This, he had no explanation to.

Shit.

Yoongi thought. His eyes just got wider from the sudden realization. He clutched at his chest.

Shit.

His heart had been beating like crazy for the past minute while he was figuring things out.

Shit.

He got up and ran to Hoseok's room and slammed the door open.

Hoseok and Jin hyung jumped from their seats again, Hoseok massaging his chest and Jin hyung was cursing at him. Under a different circumstance, Yoongi would have laughed at the déjà vu. But right now was not the time.

"Jungkook ah," His eyes was dazed, not knowing how exactly to process his feelings. "How does it feel like to fall in love?" He asked the youngest, his hand over his heart, feeling the incredible speed of the beat.

Jungkook smiled so wide at his question. "Now you realize it?"

Shit.

"Hoseok ah," Yoongi turned to his best friend, "I can't fall in love though. You know me. I am incapable of feeling romantic with another person." Yoongi tried to convince them, but it sounded more like he was convincing himself.

"No," Hoseok's smile was a mixture of happiness, relief and... Pride? "I think you just hadn't found the right person." Hoseok simply said.
