5 - Again
"Yoongi ssi?" Ye Jin called up to him again.
Yoongi slowly turned around, not wanting to explain this whole weird situation he was in at the moment. How do one explain to a potential future wife why he was holding another woman's hand and freaking sniffing it out?
"Umm.. Hi.. Ye Jin. You're... early." He piped in.
Ye Jin looked at his like his head was screwed on the other way around. "I'm not early though."
Yoongi glanced at his watch only to realize he was still holding on to Hana's hand. "Sorry" he whispered to her. He looked at his watch again. 7.05pm.
He looked to Ye Jin who was still frowning at him. "I must have lost my track of time. So sorry for that." He turned to Hana and bowed slightly, "Well then Hana... Ssi. I'll see you tomorrow then?- at the office I mean. Not here."
He was rambling now and he could hear himself. Yoongi mentally kicked himself in the head.
Hana narrowed her eyes to Yoongi. "Ok then Yoongi... Ssi. See you tomorrow. At the office of course. Not here."
Hana smirked and Yoongi swore if Ye Jin wasn't there he would have kissed that smirk away. Wait, what? Yoongi shook that thought away and watched as Hana bowed to Ye Jin and walked away to the front desk.
When the two ladies passed each other, Yoongi couldn't help but comparing them. Ye Jin was taller and had more curves. Her off white bodycon dress accentuated that. Her skinny high heels made her seem taller as well.
Hana, although shorter, seemed slimmer. Seemed - since both yesterday and today she wore loose fitting clothes. Yoongi smiled a little remembering her over-sized bomber jacket from yesterday. It was an over-sized knitted jumper for today. He couldn't really tell how her body was really like.
Yoongi eyed the two of them again. Ye Jin had her hair down, straightened to perfection. If one needed an example of perfect hair, Ye Jin's could be that example.
Hana however had had her hair tied up in a loose bun. Yoongi remembered she had her wavy hair down in the morning meeting. She must have had pulled it up sometime in the day.
"It's cold out here. Shall we move to the restaurant?" Yoongi said to Ye Jin which she nodded in response. He threw his car key to the valet and walked through the hotel's front door.
"Oh my dad's coming over in a short while." Ye Jin stated while linking her arm to his.
"What?!" His voice came up as a squeak. He immediately cleared his throat and repeated his question, making sure his voice was calm. "What do you mean he's coming over?" Yoongi noticed his arm going stiff at Ye Jin's touch.
"He wants to meet you." Ye Jin said as-a-matter-of-factly.
In a normal circumstance, Yoongi would have just winged it. He'd show affection towards Ye Jin, and be his best self in front of her dad to win some brownie points. He'd ace this and be on his way to realize his dream for Gloss. His possible future flashed through his mind.
Yoongi pictured him waking up to Ye Jin's nasal voice every morning. His company getting bigger. Mini versions of Ye Jin running around the house. Gloss becoming one of the Top 5 architecture firms. Ye Jin's dad dropping in unannounced all the time. Him on the cover of Korea Economic Report or GQ Korea.
All these were running through his head in speedy slideshows and Yoongi found it a little bit hard to breathe.
Right now, his eyes are stuck to the back of that petite lady standing at the front desk, elbows popped on the counter. She was speaking to the staff and he could see the young male staff giggle. How can she make him giggle when in front of Yoongi, Hana was always looking down.
He wanted to know more about Hana. She was just too intriguing to him. He wanted to smell her hand again, to ask if it was her hand lotion or her soap. He wanted to know why her eyes usually looked guilty whenever their eyes met.
One thing he was sure of was- right now he wanted to ask those questions so bad and it almost didn't matter to him that Ye Jin was there.
They were walking towards the restaurant which was on the other side of the hallway, with the front desk situated in between.
Right when they got near the counter, Hana started walking towards the elevator next to the restaurant, her hand was filled with white envelopes. She must have had asked the front desk to keep her mails, Yoongi thought.
They were reaching up to Hana when all these thoughts went through his head. He eyed the elevator, timed it well in his head. He waited until the light above the door indicated it was at the lobby.
In one swift motion, Yoongi slipped his arm out from Ye Jin's hold, ran up to Hana's side, pulled her elbow towards the lift and just as he had expected, the door opened right when they reached it.
Yoongi pulled Hana in, stayed close to the side of lift and pressed close repeatedly, hoping for the door to close faster. When it did, Yoongi asked her while eyeing the buttons "Which floor? Oh nevermind. I'll just press any." And he sighed in relief when the elevator hummed while moving upwards.
"Do you intent to make this a habit?" She asked, half-whispered. Once again, she sounded really close. Like in-your-face close.
Shit
Shit
Shit
Yoongi looked up to see he had successfully wall-slammed Hana in an elevator. Again. His right forearm was next to her face while his left hand hovered over the buttons in the elevator. Hana was now plastered to the corner of the lift.
Yoongi knew at the back of his head he was supposed to move back and apologize. But up close, her hazel eyes were telling thousand of stories and Yoongi wanted nothing more but to read them one by one. He didn't even notice his phone in his pocket buzzing with a call.
Yoongi's eyes moved from her eyes to her slightly parted lips. He noted how her lips were only a little bit thicker than his but they were a darker shade of pink, plump and looked so soft.
Hana wasn't wearing any lip color but he could see slight sheen, possibly from her lipbalm and he wanted to know its flavor. His eyes traced back to her eyes, which had gone down to his lips.
Before he knew it, his head had dipped down towards hers. Right before they could touch, the elevator's door dinged open. Yoongi muttered a curse and pulled himself away from her.
When he looked back at Hana, her eyes were glistening. Great. Now you've made her cry you stupid head. He scolded himself in his head. His phone buzzed again with another call.
Hana pressed a button which he assumed was her floor. All the while in the lift, she kept quiet and Yoongi could see she was wiggling her toes in her running shoes again. Yoongi realized that was her habit whenever she was nervous.
"I'm sorry." Yoongi exhaled.
Hana looked at him. He noticed her eyes were now dry, as if she had never been crying. "Why are you running away from your girlfriend?" She asked, arms folded in front of her body.
"I wasn't running away." He denied it.
"Yes you were."
"I wasn't running away from my girlfriend because she isn't my girlfriend." He stated.
"Okay then why are you running away from your not-girlfriend?" She restructured her question.
"No I wasn't." He denied again.
"Yes you were."
"Yes I was." Yoongi sighed in exasperation. Damn it she's persistent. "Shit. What have I done?" He clutched at his head trying to make sense of his action.
"Is it important?"
Yoongi looked at her. "What?"
The door opened and Hana walked out. Yoongi followed her and stopped behind her when she turned to look at him in the hallway. "Meeting her tonight. Was it important?"
"Oh. To Gloss, yes."
"To you?"
"If it's important to Gloss, it's important to me."
Hana narrowed her eyes at that but simply sighed. "Wait here."
Yoongi watched as Hana slipped in the card key on the room number 309 and walked in. Yoongi waited for a couple of minutes before she emerged from the room, holding the big box of projects folders she carried last night.
Hana placed the box in his arms and Yoongi grunted. "This is heavy!"
Hana chuckled. "Which was why I had to walk fast yesterday while carrying it. I was afraid I'd drop it."
Yoongi's mind went back to last night and immediately realized why she was scurrying off both times he saw her. He looked at the box and remembered what Hoseok said last night. "So why did you stop working for four years?"
Hana looked at him weirdly.
"Wait, answer that later. Why do I have to carry this?"
"Go back to the lobby, apologize to the lady. Tell her you followed me up here to get this box. Do what you have to do." Hana crossed her arms.
Yoongi suddenly felt like he was back in elementary, scolded by his teacher. He subconsciously pouted a bit and Hana must have noticed it since she started laughing.
"Just go. Good luck. I'll see you tomorrow." With that Hana held his shoulders to turn him around and push him gently to the elevator. She pressed the down button and waited for the door to open and pressed the lobby for him since his hands were full.
"Thanks Hana." He smiled a little.
"No problem." She then smirked before continuing, "Wonder what would Hoseok say if he knew you tried to kiss his assistant."
And with that the door closed and Yoongi had no ways to press the door open again for him to justify himself. Heck, he had no ways to press any button for that matter. Even if he could, what would you say or do Yoongi? Beg for her to keep it a secret? Or finally kiss that smirk away?
When the lift opened at the lobby, Yoongi walked to Ye Jin who looked furious with her phone stuck to her ear. Still, Yoongi hadn't realize his phone had been buzzing.
When Ye Jin saw him, she quickly put her phone in her clutch. She opened her mouth and Yoongi expected her to nag or scream or started crying. Instead she closed her mouth back again and eyed him weirdly.
He didn't understand it at first but Ye Jin suddenly went up to him and asked, "Yoongi ssi, why are you blushing?"
Then only he realized his mind had been imagining that smirk gone if he had kissed her then.
Shit. What is wrong with me?
