15 - Purely His
"Bring some for my parents tonight."
There was a pause on the other end. Yoongi knew the line was still connected by the sound of the kids songs on the background.
One second.
Two seconds.
Four seconds.
Six seconds.
"Okay."
"Wait— okay? You're okay with that?"
"Yeah. But I'm bringing Ha Young. Is that okay?"
"Of course!"

Yoongi reached Hana's apartment by 6 and rang the door bell.
He could hear screaming and giggling on the other side of the door and grinned.
"Hey you." Hana smiled when she opened the door for Yoongi to step in. "Hold on," she turned towards the hall, "Ha Young! Put on your socks. Now!"
He heard more giggling which made him giggle too.
Hana sighed in defeat. "Give me 2 minutes." She stormed off to her hall.
Yoongi stepped inside and followed her. In the middle of the hall was the most hyper toddler Yoongi had ever seen.
Ha Young was jumping around with her socks in her hands. Her pigtails bounced up and down and she was giggling non stop.
"This is what happened when she ate too much sugar." Hana picked up her and Ha Young's bag. "No more cookies for you. And put on your socks now because eomma's leaving now. Unless you want to stay at home. Alone."
The girl quickly sat on the couch and wore her socks.
Yoongi smiled widely at that. He knew she was a mother but seeing her in action made his heart swell. That was the only way to describe his feeling at that moment. His heart swelled.
When the girl was done with her socks, she came up to Yoongi and bowed. "Annyeong haseyo, I'm Ha Young."
Yoongi patted the girl's small head. "Annyeong Ha Young ah. I'm Yoongi Ahjussi."
They finally were on the road after a few minutes delay. The GPS said they will reach his parents' home just in time.
"I'm sorry we're late. I know how much you love punctuality." Hana said while adjusting the heater so Ha Young felt warmer.
"That's okay. We should be there on time."
"Eomma, where are we going?" Ha Young seemed calmer now in her car seat.
"Ahjussi's eomma appa's house. Our Ha Young make sure you're on your best behavior in front of harabeoji and halmeonni okay?"
"Mkay."
Yoongi looked over at Hana who was rearranging the contents of Ha Young's bag. He smiled. Again, his heart swelled.
Shit. Why is this feeling so overwhelming?
Yoongi reached his parents' house right before dinner time. He helped Hana with Ha Young's bag while Hana carried her own and Ha Young carried the bag of cookies.
"Hello there!" Yoongi's stepmother opened the front door and greeted them. Yoongi smiled at his stepmother's sight.
She was tall, taller than Yoongi's father in fact. She was educated, hard working, funny and gentle. Most of all, she really did became Yoongi's mother.
"Hi mom." Yoongi said in his pretended monotonous slur.
Hana looked at him funny but smiled wide when Yoongi's mother glared at him.
"You must be Hana. I've heard so much about you." Mrs. Min chirped.
"Annyeong haseyo. I'm Hana."
"And this is?" The older lady asked the tiny lady.
"Annyeong haseyo! I'm three years old Ha Young!" Ha Young said in her tiny high pitched voice.
Yoongi looked at his stepmother's eyes literally shooting hearts at the smiling little girl.
"Calm down, mom." Yoongi said, still monotonously.
"But she's so cute!" His stepmother's voice mimicked the Ha Young's.
Yoongi rolled his eyes.
They went in and greeted Yoongi's dad who merely smiled and returned their bows.
———
"Sorry about my dad." Yoongi said while sitting on his old bed.
Him and Hana were now in his old bedroom as she looked through his old photos, giggling here and there.
His stepmother had successfully bribed Ha Young with ice cream before dinner so she'd stay in the kitchen with her while she prepared the food.
Hana wanted to help but the older lady wanted Ha Young all to herself and Yoongi was actually feeling pretty giddy thinking that they were alone in his bedroom.
What the hell is happening to me?
"Your dad's cool actually." Hana said.
"My dad's not good with kids. I got that from him."
"On the contrary, I think you'd be good with kids. It's just that you're too afraid."
"What? Why would I be afraid of kids?"
"I'm not saying you're afraid of them. I'm saying you're afraid to play with them, that you might hurt them, make them cry, or throw tantrums."
Yoongi was quiet. She actually was right. From afar, Yoongi liked looking at children. He would laugh whenever they do something funny.
But once they're closer in proximity, he'd tensed up. He wouldn't know how to play with them.
"Come here." Yoongi said, patting the mattress next to him.
Hana got up and sat on that spot.
"I'm kinda excited." Yoongi said while pulling her shoulder close.
"About?"
"I have a girl on my bed. And my parents are downstairs." He murmured. "I feel like doing naughty things." He nuzzled her ear.
Hana pulled her head back to look at him, deadpanned. "Oh.my.god.how.high.school.can.you.get?"
Yoongi laughed at her reaction. "Hey I never got to experience this!"
Hana's eyes were wide. "Don't tell me... You were... unpopular?" She mockingly gasped.
Yoongi eyed her accusingly. "I would have you know I was — still am popular. I just don't bring the girls home to... Frick frack."
Hana literally snorted through her nose and Yoongi laughed so bad.
"Did you just use frick frack? Are you kidding me? Seriously are you a grandpa?"
They were still laughing so hard even while descending the stairs to the kitchen to help out with dinner.
Ha Young was at the kitchen counter, munching on a plate of veggies. His stepmother was plating the food. His dad was cutting the veggies on Ha Young's plate to small bite size.
Hana was helping his stepmother and they were lovingly chatting.
Yoongi took in everything.
He loved the scene he was witnessing.
For the first time ever in his life, he wanted this happiness that felt personal to him last.
It wasn't about Gloss. It wasn't about his family.
It was purely his happiness.
—————
A little further in the future.
"Break up with her."
Yoongi stared at his dad, trying to make sense of everything.
