11 - One in Ninety-nine

"I was pregnant..." Hana sobbed out.

Yoongi instinctively held her tighter in his arms. He didn't know what to say, but he wanted everything to be alright for her.

"When he was done, he passed out and I called Taehyung. He took me to the emergency. I had bled out so I knew staright away I had lost the baby. What I didn't know was," she sobbed again, "they had to remove my right ovary and both of my tubes have scar tissue."

Motherfucker. Yoongi cursed her ex-husband in his head.

"The possibility for me to get pregnant again would be one in... probably a hundred? Oh well, even the doctor didn't know. But they said there is a possibility. It was them trying to tell me nicely I can't get pregnant anymore." She sounded calmer now, like how a person who had given up hope would sound like. "An unnie I met at the hospital said she had been trying for eight years, and she had both ovaries."

"Hundred?" Yoongi repeated. He nuzzled her ear. "Let's do it a hundred times then. One of them might work."

Hana looked up to him with eyes so wide and laughed through her tears. She playfully slapped his arm.

Yoongi smiled. He liked it when she laughed. He liked the sound of it. He liked it when she's happy. "What happened then?"

Hana sighed. "I filed for divorce which he agreed to." She took a deep breaths. "I was okay at the beginning. But a couple of months after the surgery, it finally hit me I can't have kids of my own. I broke down and was depressed. I started drinking to cope with it.

Taehyung came to me one night and told me to make that night the last night I drink. He asked me what was the difference between me and my ex-husband if I turn to alcohol for my pain. It hit me hard.

We drank so much we blacked out. When I woke up, I was in my apartment and my hip hurt."

Yoongi looked at her in fear. "Your... your hip...?"

"I had a bandage on my right hip. I tattooed the name Ha Young - me and Taehyung's ship name since we're best friends. Ever since then, we've stopped drinking. Well, until last night for me.

A few months later my ex-husband came to my doorstep carrying a baby carrier. He told me to keep the baby since I can't get pregnant anyways.

At first I wanted to say no. But I don't know what he would've done to Ha Young. He was drunk at that time too.

I took care of Ha Young as best as I could with the savings I had. Taehyung helped with what he could even though he was still in college at that time. They were brothers but were the polar opposites.

One night," she suddenly smiled in remembrance, "Ha Young was colicky, and wouldn't stop crying. I did everything I could but she was just screaming her lungs out. I didn't know what else to do and I was too tired so I laid down my bed and put her on my chest.

I just wanted to have a few minutes of nap. But when she was on my chest, she suddenly stopped crying. Her eyes were big and she wasn't asleep. It was as if she was focusing on my heartbeat." Hana smiled so wide now.

"That was the moment I fell in love with her. Before that it was simply trying to make her survive, bathe her, feed her, put her to bed. But that moment made me realize I wanted to be her all. That was the moment I named her Ha Young." She traced her fingertips over her tattoo. "I think it was destined. I got it here, and it became a symbol that Ha Young came from me too. From my nonexistent right ovary. She was my baby."

"You are her all. If your voice is what she wants to listen to before she sleeps, then you are her all..." Yoongi traced it too, the intricate cursive writing flowed a little bit further to the side of her hip. It was beautiful.

Hana sobbed quietly again. "When he died earlier this year, my ex-parents in laws had tried several times to take Ha Young from me. They had never cared before. One day, they came to Ivy and accused me of killing their son. They were angry I wouldn't let them take Ha Young.

They said I only wanted to keep her because I couldn't have one of my own. I threw them out of my room, screaming at them for saying that when it was their son who did that to me. So they came again yesterday with the lawyer. I was in the process of legally adopting her instead of just being a guardian but they got a lawyer faster than I did." Hana continued to sob while Yoongi patted her back slowly.

"Don't worry. We'll do all we can, okay? I'll call our lawyer tomorrow and we can go talk to him personally."

Hana nodded. "Thank you, Yoongi ah." When she had calmed down, she looked at him and smiled mischievously. "You know, me and Taehyung did it together."

Yoongi looked at Hana, his eyes wide with a hint of fear. "Did what?"

Hana laughed. "The tattoo! Taehyung has a tattoo of Ha Young's name on his hip too. We were too drunk." She laughed.

Yoongi laughed too. "Wow, having a girl's name tattooed on your hip is definitely not good. He'd have a lot to explain to his future girlfriend when they want to sleep together." He laughed.

Hana merely looked at her and hummed in agreement. And then there was a small chuckle.

He sighed in relief when he saw she seemed better now. "So," Yoongi suddenly was curious, "you have couple tattoos with Taehyung?"

Hana turned to look at him. "Ooh, am I sensing someone's jealous?"

"Are you trying to make me jealous?"

"Maybe. Did it work?"

"Maybe. Especially since you never said if you like me. And I have a feeling he likes you."

Hana sat up to disagree, she clutched at the comforter above her breasts.

Yoongi liked it that she was still shy.

"Min Yoongi," she called up to him.

Yoongi sat up too, sitting opposite her. "Yes Choi Hana?"

Hana laughed but stopped suddenly when she saw his scar. It had been unnoticeable since it was dark and he was lying on his right side. She brought her fingertips to the scar, tracking it downwards.

Yoongi was ticklish so he held her hand but she gently pushed it aside. "I'm sorry."

"Sorry for what?" Yoongi asked.

"Sorry you were hurt like this."

"You don't have to be sorry. It wasn't your fault."

Hana looked at him. "But -"

"It wasn't your fault. You were a victim too."

Hana looked at him with fear in her hazel eyes.

"I know." Yoongi said.

She frowned at him.

"I know. I remember now."

And she broke down in tears.

"I'm sorry." She sobbed. "I'm sorry..."

Yoongi pulled her close and kissed the top of her head. "It's okay baby. It wasn't your fault."

"When did you find out?" She whispered.

"Just now. In the shower. It was filled with your scent. Your lotion. And I saw my scar and everything just came back to me." Yoongi pulled away to look at her face. "That was why your scent was familiar. It stayed on my jacket for weeks. Or maybe I imagined it to be weeks. Namjoon, my brother, said it was only for a couple of days."

"Why weren't you traumatized? It should've been a past you'd want to forget."

"It's not. It's a part of me. It made me who I am today. It made me see my father broke down because of me. It made me and Namjoon brothers. It made us a real family. And now," he pulled her close again, "it made you a part of me too."

Hana pulled away to smile at Yoongi before snuggling back against him.

"Was that why you always looked guilty when you look at me?" Yoongi asked, his voice soft.

Hana nodded. "You got hurt because of me and my friend. I didn't even look for you at the hospital. I'm sorry..."

"Don't be. You were a victim too. You were afraid. I understood that. You didn't have to come look for me."

"Taehyung and my ex-husband did. They went to make sure you were okay. I asked my friend - your classmate - to let me know when you come back to school so I could thank you then. But you never came back. Later on we found out you've moved.

The boys who knew your house disappeared. Probably afraid they'd have to go to jail. I had given up in trying to find you."

"Until you met me at the elevator."

"Until I met you at the elevator."

"That was why you hesitated before stepping into it."

"That was why I hesitated before stepping into it. I thought you would recognize me. I was afraid for a moment. I was afraid you'd know who I am and hate me."

"I could never hate you."

"But you scowled in that elevator."

"Because you took your own sweet time when I was in a rush."

"To go to your date?"

Yoongi snapped his head down to look at her. "How did you know?"

"I saw you at the restaurant. I ran past it hoping you wouldn't see me."

"But I did."

"You did and you asked me about it the next day. It took me by surprised that I didn't know how to react so I accidentally snapped at you."

"Ah so that was the reason..." Yoongi laughed. "Things that were so complicated before turned out so simple."

She seemed to hesitate for a bit before moving to straddle his lap. She put one arm behind his neck and the other hand on his jaw, pulling his face up towards her. "Min Yoongi," She looked into his eyes. "I am a divorcee, I have a daughter, I might not be able to have any children, I don't want to get married again, at least for the time being I don't, and above all, I am broken."

Her eyes started glistening but she wiped it away, probably were tired of crying. "But I like you. I like you so much it made me scared. I was afraid of getting too close to you. I was afraid of many things. Most of all, I was afraid you won't be able to accept me as I am."

"Choi Hana, I have never been in a real relationship before. I had never fallen in love with anyone. I will definitely be awkward at dating. I'm not good at expressing myself. I tend to put my job first, people second. But I like you, a lot. And here right now, it feels right. Let's date."

"Without the intention of getting married?"

"Without the intention of anything but to be with you in the present." Yoongi thought about the night. She had been crying, she had laughed, she had smiled mischievously and she had broken down. She had gone through all these emotions in front of him, as he loved every second of it.

Hana smiled and nodded. "Let's date." She dipped her head and kissed him gently.

Yoongi reached for her jaw and pulled her closer. Soon the kiss turned into a passionate one.

"Shouldn't we sleep?" Hana broke the kiss. "Shouldn't you sleep? I slept in the car just now. You're tired aren't you?"

"On the contrary," Yoongi lied down, pulling Hana with him so she's on top of him, "I think we should make full use of this damn expensive room." He smirked.

Hana's eyes widened for a while before leaning down to kiss him again.

"Let's make it one in ninety-nine now." Yoongi smirked again and pulled the comforter away from her body.

Hana laughed out loud before kissing him again and sighed in pleasure when Yoongi's thumbs brushed her inner thighs lightly.

It was the sexiest sound Yoongi had ever heard. And he was surprised at himself how a sound that small could turn him on that much. What he was sure of was, he was thankful for the moment, this moment that did not promise a future, but a present filled with love and hope.
