Chap. 4- Even More Annoying
"Have you eaten breakfast?" Ms. Kayama asked as soon as I answered her call.
"I just left, I'll get something on the way." I lied.
"Call me after school okay. Bye, (N/n)." She was rushing to keep up with her schedule so I didn't bother keeping her on longer.
"Bye, Ms. Kayama." I mumbled and hung up while boarding the train.
'Why are there so many people?' I scanned over the crowd of newscasters and onlookers.
"Are you a hero course student? Please tell us what it's like studying under All Might!" A camera was in my face followed by a confident woman.
On instinct I held my hand up to the camera, the one thing I didn't want was attention. I pushed past without an answer but the questions kept coming. This was going to be a long day.
"Why do you think there are so many reporters? Wouldn't it be easier to request interviews?" Uraraka asked once I sat at my desk.
"They're reporters, they thrive off of what they can pry out of people when catching them off guard. What would you say in an interview if you already knew the questions?" I explained.
"I guess that makes sense..." She gently tapped her chin.
"You think we'll be on TV?" A few conversations were picking up about the sudden attention, mostly consisting of the reporters but some about All Might.
"Everyone shut up." Aizawa silenced the miscellaneous conversations. "Despite the unwanted attention this morning, classes will continue as normal. If you are asked questions or your schedule is interrupted, continue with your day as if nothing's happening." He spoke with authority and rationalism.
"Why are there so many reporters outside?" One of the girls asked.
"Isn't it obvious?" I mumbled.
"Kayama. Why don't you answer since you seem to know why." I rolled my eyes at Aizawa sensei.
"Who's one of our hero teachers? They want to know what it's like 'learning from the best'." I draped an arm over the back of my chair while speaking. "It's bullshit publicity."
"Language." The valedictorian-wannabe scolded me.
"Suck my dick." I glared at him.
"That language is unacceptable for a hero course student!" He seemed shocked.
"Oh my fucking god please stop talking. Your voice makes me want to rip my eardrums out and shove them down your throat." A few snickers shot around the room and he finally stopped talking.
"If you two insolent children are done bickering I'd like to move on with our lives." Eraserhead cleared his throat and started to write on the board. "Decide your class president and do it quickly."
"This should be left to a vote!" Iida stood up with his hand raised.
"Wouldn't people just vote for themselves?" Someone asked.
"Exactly! That just means the one with the most votes deserves to be president." He explained.
"God let this be over already." I stood up. "Can we just vote?" A few people nodded in agreement and the voting began.
Once they were all cast and counted, Midoriya had three and Yaoyorozu had two. Meaning they were our president and Vice President.
"Aww I really wanted to at least get one..." Uraraka pouted slightly.
"H-how did-" Midoriya stared wide-eyed at the board.
"Simple, we voted for you because you seem like a strong leader." Iida motioned at him.
"You sure you're not just saying that cause you wanted to be president? It's pretty obvious you wanted what he got." I mumbled loud enough for him to hear.
"Why that's just-" He was silenced by the bell. I stood and raced past him, our shoulders barely grazing.
"Close your mouth, you'll catch a fly." I smirked.
"Hey Yama-chan, why do you and Iida argue so much?" Uraraka asked as we walked to the lunch hall.
"Cause he's annoying. And he doesn't know when to shut up." I shrugged.
"But wasn't that comment a bit unnecessary?" She pulled me into the line next to her.
"Nope." I sighed not even bothering to get something to eat.
"Aren't you hungry? I never see you eat lunch." She handed me a random tray. "At least eat something."
"You sound like Ms. Kayama." I uncomfortably held the tray and went through the line.
"Whatever it takes to make sure you're at your best!" She giggled.
"You're too pure for this world." We walked side by side toward an open table.
"What's that supposed to mean?" She sat down next to me and started eating.
"You're too nice for what you'll experience as a hero. That shit's damaging," I fidgeted with my sweater.
"That's why I want to be a hero. I want to save people." She smiled.
"That just proves my point." I sighed.
"So why else do you want to be a hero?" Midoriya and Iida made their way to the table. The boys sat across from us which caused me to recoil further into the chair to get as far from anyone as possible.
"Because it's the family business. It's my job to take the Ingenium name." Iida lifted his glasses up slightly.
"Of course you're from a hero family." I picked at the lunch I was forcefully given.
"Wait-wait-wait- Ingenium?" Midoriya stopped him in his tracks.
"That means you're filthy rich!?" Uraraka leaned on the table.
"Ingenium is-" Midoriya was cut off.
"My elder brother!" He seemed a little too proud of himself.
"Take it down a notch, Valedictorian." I waved him off.
"Are you patronizing me?" He asked, quizzically.
"Oh wow! He finally picks up the cues! Good job!" I sang while slowly clapping. An alarm sounded making me jump.
"Attention students, this is not a drill. Enact level three lock down procedures." The alarm paused for the robotic announcement. "Will all students please evacuate as quickly and calmly as possible."
"Level three? What's that supposed to mean?" Uraraka looked worried.
"Dunno, it's never happened in my three years." An upperclassman stood and began directing some students to the exits.
We all stood but soon the crowd became too large to manage. People were pushing and nearly trampling others. To keep from a mishap, I clenched my fists and kept my arms close to my chest.
"Uraraka!" Iida's voice chimed up in front of me. He was reaching forward at her. What was he planning? I was aggressively pushed to the side and my nails cut into my palms. 'Whatever this Valedictorian is planning better work' I lunged forward to give him at least a small push to reach Uraraka.
Immediately he was lifted out of the crowd. His glasses drifted off of his face as he projected himself forward. I reached up and grabbed them before they got damaged. Not sure why I was doing something to help him but might as well give thanks for not getting trampled.
"Everyone calm down! It's only the press!" He alerted the stampede to the danger and almost instinctively everyone calmed down. I sighed as they returned to the lunch hall and glanced at my hands.
'Great.' I rolled my eyes and wiped the blood on my skirt.
"Oi! Four eyes." I balanced the spectacles on my index finger at him. He nodded and gratefully took them.
"Is your hand okay?" He asked, noticing the small bit of blood.
"I'm fine." I pulled away and went to find Uraraka.
"But you're bleeding." He followed me.
"I know. And I said I was fine." I glared over my shoulder. He didn't slow down, but caught up and fell into step with me. I rolled my eyes as he opened his mouth to speak.
"Did you get cut in the crowd?" He asked, reaching for my hand.
"Don't touch me-!" I stepped away from him. "My nails are just too damn long." I huffed and sped up so he'd leave me alone.
"What was that about?" Uraraka looked past me at Iida.
"Nothing." I huffed.
"If you say so." She didn't push for an answer.
A/N: Wow I'm late... I hate school so much. I have more important things to do like updating on a more regular basis. Take care of yourselves my lovelies.
