Avi's POV

We were finally on our way home. Kevin was driving, Kirstie was sitting next to him, and I was on the back seat, squeezed between Scott and Mitch who was still carrying July, with Katie on my lap. I was praying police wouldn't notice us, because I didn't think they would be okay with seven passengers in a car for five.

Katie looked somehow nervous and uncomfortable. I hugged her tightly. She flinched.

''Kath..'' I started. ''Are you okay?''

This girl was like a daughter to me, and lately I was always a bit worried about her. Her mother was my best friend since kindergarden and she truly was a great mom. But sometimes it was just too much for them to handle each other, so they were fighting a lot.

''Avi?'' she whispered.

''Yeah?''

''Can I.. ask you for an offer?''

''Sure honey. What is it?'' I smiled at her.

''Could I..maybe stay at your place for tonight?''

I looked at her. She was playing with her hair, looking somewhere outside.

''What happened?'' I asked.

''Nothing. I just don't wanna see Tanya. Please.''

Tanya? When did she stop calling her 'mom'? I was really confused.

''I'll talk to your mother. You can stay with us if she's okay with it.''

She nodded. ''Thank you.''

''Honey..you know you can talk to me about everything, right?'' I asked her.

She looked away and ignored me.

''Hey, look at me.'' I made her look me straight in my eyes. ''Okay?''

She nodded and slowly closed her eyes, pretending she fell asleep. Something was definitely going on..

We arrived at our place and said goodbye to Kirstie, Scott and Mitch before they left.

''Hey,'' I whispered to Kevin. ''Come here, talk time.''

He nodded and we went out of the car so Katie and Jul couldn't hear us.

''What's going on?''

''Would it be alright if Katie stay here for tonight? There's something wrong with her.''

''Sure, why not? What happened?''

I shook my head. ''I don't know. But could you ..check her, please? Talk to her? Whatever you want. Because she won't tell me anything. And she's hiding something. I have no idea what it is, but it's...something. She looks so sad and I..I'm really..'' He gently covered my mouth.

''I'll talk to her. Don't worry. Now let's go, it's getting a little bit cold.'' he smiled.

''Thanks man.'' I nodded.

The girls were still sleeping in the car and I really had to take a picture. It was so adorable!

We carried them to our apartment and when I put Kathy on the couch, she finally woke up.

''Hey sweetie. Get comfy, okay? I'll call Tanya. If you'll need anything, ask Kevin. He'll be here in a few minutes.''

She giggled a bit and nodded. ''Okay. Thanks, Kaplan.''
