Dave's POV

I had made my mind up and I wasn't gonna go back.

This is for the best.

I thought as I drove to the Thompson's mansion.

I hope it goes well.

Ivy's POV

"...that's what we agreed on" I spoke to Luke on the phone as I lay on my bed

"But what if he changes his mind?" Luke asked

My brows creased
"What are you getting at, Luke?" I asked "Dad agreed that I'd take over Thompson's Publishing after I graduate. It's time now"

I heard him sigh
"Are you sure he still feels the same?" He asked "I mean c'mon, you were what...twelve, when you wanted that." He paused

I sighed

"All I'm saying is don't be disappointed when he tells you 'No'. Just handle it like the strong girl I know you are and work there either way and earn your way to the top. He won't deny you C.E.O. then....he'll even beg you to take it"

I giggled at that.
"You have a way with words Mr. Graham" I said, smiling

"Duh. Why do you think they loved my valedictorian speech?" He asked

I groaned as I rolled on the bed
"Not this again Luke" I begged

"I'm serious..." he began But I ended the cal before he could go any further

I smiled to myself, shaking my head at how he makes me laugh. I sobered up when I thought of what he said.

Surely dad knew I was serious when untold him I wanted to be C.E.O. of Thompson's Publishing. He was he one who said I will be after I graduated. So what could go wrong?

Dad always came through for us. Why would now be any different?

I was gonna be C.E.O of Thompson's Publishing soon.

But I think I liked Luke's idea of earning my way to the top than getting there just by connection. I didn't want to be known as the boss' daughter. I wanted to be known as Ivy.

Ivy Thompson the C.E.O. of Thompson's Publishing and not Ceaser Thompson's daughter, C.E.O. of Thompson's Publishing.

Either way. I was gonna earn it. C.E.O. or not.

The knock on my door broke me out of my reverie.

"Come in" I called

"Honey" mum called after she opened the door. "Your dad and I want to see you in his office"

I sat up
"Any problem?" I asked

She just looked at me and sighed
"Come downstairs honey"

Oh-Kay?!

Weird.

"Coming" I said as I stood from he bed and slipped my foot into my flats

Mum and I went downstairs

"Mum, what's the matter?" I asked

"You'll have to find out from your dad" she said

We walked into dad's office

"Dad?" I called when I entered his office.

He looked up at me from his chair, behind the desk.

"You called for me" I said as mum went to stand behind him.

I walked near the desk

"Sit munchkin" dad said

I was about sitting when someone stood from the other seat in front of dad's desk.

I looked up and a smile slowly crept to my lips as I thought of yesterday.

"Ivy" he smiled at me

"Dave" I could feel myself blush

Darn.

I could still feel those lips on mine. His strong hands as he gripped my waist...breathe Ivy, breathe.

What's he doing here?

"What are you doing here?" My brows creased, confusingly

"I..." he began

"Have your seats please" dad interrupted

Gee! I had almost forgotten my parents were here.

Dave waited till I was seated before he sat.

What a gentleman.

I turned to my parents and waited.

I raised my brow when he downbeat anything
"Dad?" I called, getting agitated

"Oh right sorry" he cleared his throat "Ivy..." he began

Ivy.

Ivy?

Dad never calls me Ivy.

What the heck is going on?

Someone tell me right this instant.

"...you know how much your mum and I, love you and want what's Nat for you..."

"Get to the point dad" I interrupted him

He looked at mum then back at me
"It's about the C.E.O. position at Thompson's Publishing" he said

Oh-Kay?

"What about it?" I asked, my pulse racing

"It's already been filled" he said

I felt my world stop. I could hear my heart beat in slow motion.

Moments passed and I could feel their eyes on me.

All I'm saying is don't be disappointed when he tells you 'No'. Just handle it like the strong girl I know you are...

I could hear Luke's words ringing in my head.

I swallowed.

"Oh" I finally said

Dad raised his brow slowly
"Your not mad?" He asked

I shook my head
"It's your company dad. You know what's best for it, or who" I said with a fake smile

He nodded slowly

"So who is it?" I asked almost happily to cover what I felt inside

Silence.

"Dad?" I called

It couldn't be that bad.

"Honey..." Mum began "...its...Dave"

Boom!

I could hear my heart beating so fast I thought it was gonna pop out of my chest.

I felt my eyes begin to water as I looked down at my fingers and blinked fast to stop them from falling.

When I knew I was okay. I looked at Dave and face him my best smile.

"Congratulations" I said

He just stared at my face and looked into my eyes, his expression was blank before he gave a sad smirk
"Thanks"

I looked back at my parents
"Is that all?" I asked "I have something to take care of" I lied

This was getting to much to hold inside.

"There's one more thing" dad said sitting up

"What is it?" I asked a little to quickly, wanting to be done with this once and for all

Silence.

Oh God.

Another bomb?

I was even scared to hear it.

I swallowed when dad opened his mouth to speak.

"You're getting married..."

What?!

My heart dropped

But that wasn't all

"...to Dave..." he said

Oh My God.

But then again, he wasn't done

"...next week"

I lost my breath as my eyes teared up.
