Chapter 13 - Thinking About Everything

Thinking about everything that's happened to me in the last few weeks, I will never again complain that my life is boring. The last few weeks have been pretty hectic between overdosing, moving to LA and being in an accident, which still no one knows how it happened.

After waking up, doctors ran numerous tests and kept me for observation, not that they thought it was necessary but after being threatened with a lawsuit from Olive and James, they complied. I told them it was unnecessary but they wouldn't have any of it, claiming that it was better to be safe and take all the precaution we can. After some complaints, I eventually agreed.

As you probably have already guessed, I just wanted to leave the hospital as quickly as possible, unsure whether they could detect the heroin in my system. I really didn't want Olive and James to find out since I have come to really like them. Even though I'm still planning on leaving this place, I want them to have good memories of me, and not the tainted ones.

"Hey you're ready to go?" Dylan has popped his head into my room where I was packing all the necessary things for my classes into my bag.

"Yeah just about, give me a minute"

"Okay meet me downstairs" he smiled and left to go downstairs.

Today was my first day back in college, after having a break due to being in the hospital. Luckily all my professors were understanding of my situation and gave me extensions on the papers that I have had due.

The drive didn't take long, most of the roads were empty. Once we got there, we went our separate ways, but not before Dylan reminded me to wait for him today so that he can drive me home after I'm finished with my classes today.

I've already figured out that he feels guilty about what happened to me. I wasn't sure how to approach the subject with him and let him know that it wasn't his fault. After all, it was my choice that day to walk home and to not wait for him to finish his football practice. I'll have to have a talk with him later today.

"Omg Amber!" someone shouted before something jumped on me from behind, causing me and the unknown person to collapse in a heap on the floor.

"What the fuck!?" I exclaimed, completely taken by surprise. People were now starting to stop and stare at the two weirdos lying on the floor in the middle of the hallway.

"Why didn't you call us? We were worried sick about you young lady! You might not think of us as important people in your life but you are important in ours dammit!" this was the moment I realised that it was in fact Sophie that decided to jump on me and shout at me with everyone staring at us. I guess that's one way to try and not draw attention to myself today. Note the sarcasm.

"Hey and did you ever think to jump on people who have recently left the hospital?" I fired back, wanting nothing more than for her to get off me. Some of the bruises from the accident were still pretty painful.

"Oh damn, sorry" she sheepishly said, picking herself up and standing up.

I turned over and saw the whole group, consisting of Harvey, Greg, Shane and Sophie staring at me with concerned eyes.

"Is one of you gonna help me or are you just gonna keep staring?" the sarcasm in my voice was very evident. The whole group snapped out of their trance and suddenly there were four hands extended towards me, offering me their help. I grabbed a random one and was quickly hoisted up onto my two feet. I brushed my jeans off, making sure they weren't dirty and turned to look at the group standing in front of me.

"I'm so sorry for jumping on you like that, I wasn't thinking.... are you okay? Does anything hurt?" Sophie fired the questions at me, looking over my body.

"I'm fine, I'm fine just please don't do it again" I smiled lightly at her, not wanting her to feel guilty over this.

"Yeah course, sorry again Ambs" she said, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear.

"You never answered the question; are you okay? What happened?" Shane spoke up, directing his questions at me.

"Guys, I'm fine. I don't really want to talk about it, it feels like it's all I've been talking about for the past few days. Instead tell me what's new with you guys?" I pleaded with them, really wanting to avoid the subject.

"Let me say one last thing and then we'll shut up. If anything like that happens ever again, you call us, got it?" Greg said in his stern voice whilst pointing a finger in my face the whole time. It was quite comical to be honest.

"Yeah sure, whatever. Now, what's new with you guys?" As soon as I asked the question they all started catching me up on the latest gossip. Most of it didn't mean much to me as I didn't know any other people on campus, but I was happy about the distraction.

My classes flew by, mostly because I didn't understand most of what was going on since I've missed quite a bit. It getting to me a little bit, the fact that I missed so much.

Psychology was one of my passions; it has been ever since I was a little girl. There is something about the human brain, how it works and adapts to different situations that I find fascinating. Being a psychiatrist and helping people through their issues was my dream job, and now when I finally have an opportunity to study it and work towards my goal, a stupid accident happens which results in me missing tons of classes and falling behind.

"Cafe tease, why the frown?" I recognised the voice instantly, after spending some time with him at the hospital, it was quite easy.

I didn't even realise that I ended up behind the psychology building, where me and Cyrus had one of our run ins before.

"What are you doing here?" I asked, avoiding his question.

"I followed you after I saw you storming through the halls with a determined and angry face. You looked like you desperately needed to punch someone so I thought I should offer myself as a sacrifice" the cheeky grin never left his face, obviously he found himself hilarious. What he didn't expect was for me to walk up to him and take him up on the offer.

So that was exactly what I did, taking out my anger on his muscled upper arm.

After my strike, his face turned into one of pain and shock, clearly not expecting for me to punch him.

"Oh wow you were totally right, I needed that" I laughed as he was mumbling curses under his breath and rubbing the spot that I punched a few seconds ago.

"Oh you're so gonna get it for that" he had a mischievous grin on his face as he started making his way towards me, slowly and with determination. Reminded me of a predator who was prowling towards the unaware, innocent prey.

I slowly started to back away from him, hoping to get away from him before he does anything to me. Unfortunately for me, this didn't work out as I felt a wall behind me, stopping me from moving away from Cyrus any further. Damn, I was trapped.

As he realised this, his smile grew wider and the glint in his chocolate eyes got brighter; he knew  he had me exactly where he wanted me. Suddenly he lunged towards me, wrapped his arms around my waist to make it impossible for me to escape his planned torture, and started tickling my stomach.

What he didn't plan for was the part where I wasn't ticklish. At least no on my stomach. I smirked to myself, knowing that I won once again.

Cyrus kept tickling, kept running his fingers along my stomach in hopes of a reaction, and when he didn't receive one he moved his fingers to my armpits. You guessed right, he found exactly what he was looking for.

As soon as I felt the touch of his fingers on my armpits, I squealed and started trashing around, trying my best to get away from his tickling fingers. Cyrus' grip was strong though and there was no way I could get away from him at this point.

"Hahahaha please let me gooooo" I said in between laughs, not sure how much more of this I can take.

"I will but you have to apologise to me" he said lowly, his raspy voice tickling my ear.

"Apologise for what? I haven't done anything" his touch became slightly lighter, making me relax  a little bit. His lips were still very close my ear, his breath tickling me with every inhale and exhale of his lungs.

"For being a tease, for using me as your punching bag, and finally for not spending enough time with me" he concluded, his vine like grip still tight and unwilling to let me go.

"Okay, I can apologise for the first two things but spending enough time with you? C'mon, I've been in the hospital and from what I recall, we've spent plenty of time together" I argued, not fully understanding what he means.

"I don't mean when Dylan asks me to keep you company when he has to go take a piss. I mean willingly spending time with me, outside of the hospital, outside of college. Just us" his voice decreased in volume with every word he spoke.

He was now holding me from behind, his arms wrapped around my waist and my back resting on his chest. I could feel his steady breathing against my ear and his thick, brown curls were starting to tickle the left side of my face. Yes that's how close his face was to mine.

"Okay Cyrus, I sincerely apologise" I whispered back, my eyes closed, just enjoying the moment.

"Apology accepted darling" he said softly, slightly tightening his grip around my waist just for a second, before letting me go and moving away from me.

The second he stepped away, I felt cold and empty. What was that?

"Okay, let's go!" he clapped his hands and started heading towards the door which leads through the building and to the front of campus.

"Go where?" I questioned, hesitating slightly in following him.

"I've got a place to show you" he winked, grabbed my hand and started pulling me towards the door.

As it turns out, it was one of the best days I remember having.
