NIGHTMARE

Kale was looking in rare view mirror. His supposed mate was sitting in a window seat of the farthest car, hugging her thin sweater tightly around her. Initially her eyes were wide with some unknown emotion but then nothing. Her face held no expression, she was numb. But still he didn't miss it when she wiped her tears away.

His wolf was in isolation, hating his human with such a passion. The moment was broken when he heard the annoying voice of Lyra, Alpha Starks' daughter.

"I'm so excited to see your house. I can't even imagine how big it would be. Is it true that you are the richest person in this country?"

Kale rolled his eyes. He had nothing to do with her but just because he wanted to respect alpha Stark's wish or more specifically his Luna's wish, he accepted that foul mouthed brat. He saw Beta Reynolds rolling his eyes as well.

"And you really are the strongest alpha out there? I can't believe I'm going to be your Luna!" she sighed dreamily.

"In your dreams..." he muttered.

"You know we can finish mating process tonight itself. I want to be the Luna of the richest pack, god! It would be so cool." She chuckled or more like cackled.

"Will you stop talking? It is giving me a headache." Kale stated and Lyra's whole demeanor changed in a flash as she glared at him,

"That bitch is your mate, right? Well, people would never accept her. She is just a mistake nothing else."

Kale let out a small growl but said nothing.

"What? Cat got your tongue? She deserves to be punished severely for the crime her who** of a mother did."

"Shut up." Kale growled loudly which made her shut up.

Kale's mind again fogged with hatred and anger towards his mate.

Sophie opened her eyes but was embraced by darkness. She couldn't see anything and started to panic. Her hands searched the floor she was on but there was just dirt and soil nothing else. She took few calming breaths and slowly her vision cleared. But what she saw broke her even more. She was in a cell; a dark cell with no one surrounding it.

Her heart started beating wildly again but she realized it was her fate. Nobody wanted to see her happy, her mate hated her, she had no family, nothing as they said maybe even moon goddess made a mistake. Tears were streaming down her face but at least it was better than seeing the mate who doesn't want you.

She slowly wiped her tears away and pushed herself towards the wall. Her wolf was going crazy. They never talked to each other. Her wolf blamed her for everything so it was another mistake made by moon goddess. Sophie tried to talk to her wolf but as always she didn't replied. She never felt this lonely before but now everything was ruined. 

Kale sighed as his mind went back to his mate, the girl he put in cells because according to him, she was a disgrace. Lyra tried everything to please him but he didn't crack. Finally she had enough as she barged into his room.

"What the fuck is wrong with you? Why I'm not in your room but some stupid guest room?" she screamed.

"Because you are not my mate and I wouldn't do the mistake that your father did. I won't father some illegitimate child."

"Your mate is a bastard herself. What will you do?"

"That's none of your business. I brought you here to respect Alpha Stark. I will help you in finding your mate." Kale stated.

"I don't want anyone, I want you." She stomped her feet on the floor like some 5 year old.

"You don't want me, you just want my money." Kale laughed humorlessly.

She didn't say anything just stomped away from his room. As soon as she went outside beta Reynolds entered.

"What have you decided about Nick? He is down there in cells from four days." he plopped down on the sofa.

"One more day and then his punishment is over." Kale sighed.

The kid was becoming a nuisance.

"And what about your mate?"

"I can't accept her, you know that."

"You know whatever happened before should not influence your present. I know you despise bastards but it doesn't mean that..."

But before beta could complete his sentence Kale cut him off,

"Leave me alone. I don't want to talk about this."

Sophie rested her head on the wall thinking about her mom. If she was alive, they would be so happy. She was the most beautiful woman Sophie had ever seen. Suddenly there was a rustling in adjacent cell and a small light illuminated. She saw a boy sitting there smoking something. He was younger than her and was eyeing her curiously.

"Wh... Who are you?"  She asked.

"I should ask the same question but you asked first so I would answer. My name is Nick. And you are?"

"Sophie." She muttered.

"So Sophie, what are you doing here?"

"I don't know really." She muttered not wanting to tell him everything.

Even though, he was a prisoner, she was sure when he would know the truth; he would despise her like everyone else.

"Oh come on! I am not going to tell anyone. Okay fine, let's make a deal. I will tell you my story, you will tell me yours, sounds good?" He asked.

"Okay."

"My name is Nick; you probably know that by now. I played prank on someone and it went totally wrong. But trust me it was quite hilarious."

"You're in a jail for a prank?" Sophie looked at him with wide eyes.

"I put his head on fire!" he chuckled and Sophie let out a gasp. How could be do that to someone?

"That's cruel. Why would you do that?" She couldn't help but ask.

Nick exhaled the smoke and then turned towards her. His eyes were shining dark.
"The bastard tried to rape a girl." and Sophie's opinion about the guy changed in an instant.

"But Almighty alpha doesn't know about it so he put me behind the bars for injuring one of his pack members."

"You should tell him. You are innocent."

"OH! So now you know me?" Nick smirked but Sophie avoided his gaze.

"Now it's your turn." He said but she hesitated for some time.

"Alpha Knight is my mate." She said softly making Nick suck a sharp breath.

"But my mom... she... I'm..."

"You're an illegitimate child." He stated.

Sophie just nodded. After some time she whispered,

"Maybe that's why nobody wants me."

"I'm sorry." Nick said as he eyed the girl sitting in another cell. She looked so innocent but you can't change the fate. He felt bad for this girl even though he didn't know her.

Nobody said anything for an hour but then Sophie said softly,

"Can I tell you something? I have never told this to anyone. I wasn't allowed to..."

Nick's interest perked up at that as he looked at her.

"I mean I don't know why I'm telling you this. Maybe because I won't see you again and maybe Alpha would kill me most probably...."

"Soph! Talk to me." He stated softly, the tone he never used on someone.

"I'm not illegitimate child!" her tears streamed down her face, "My mum was the true mate of Alpha Stark, my father but he didn't want her just like Alpha Knight doesn't want me." she sobbed in her hands.

Nick wanted nothing but to go and embrace the girl but he couldn't.

"So that means you're the true heir of your pack? And not those whiney bitches?" Sophie didn't say anything just nodded.

"God, my brother is such an idiot." Nick bellowed and Sophie looked at him with wide eyes.

"Your brother?"

"Alpha Kale Knight is my older brother. I'm Nick Knight."
