Chapter Twelve: Attempt

Mack ran away, I should have trusted my gut feeling and not left her alone. She must be heading to Angel by now.

All this could've been avoided if Angel didn't propose at all. It would have been avoided if she hadn't existed.

It would've been Mack and I, happy together for our entire lives. I'd treat her better than Angel ever could.

I don't regret doing all these somewhat crazy actions, for they were an act of love, and Mack is worth suffering for.

Sighing, I hesitantly knocked on their door, but they just ignored it. I could hear someone gasping inside, I'm assuming it was Mack.

I guess the police are arriving soon, that means I'll have to act faster. I started banging on the door, trying to destroy it or kick it down somehow.

Mack started crying and yelling something that I couldn't understand.

I had a swiss knife in my pocket, but it would do little damage to the door and it would take too long and allow them to get away.

Getting tired, I stopped and took a deep breath. I saw a fire extinguisher at the end of the hallway.

I broke the glass and took it, running back to their door and slamming the heavy extinguisher onto the knob.

The impact broke the knob enough for me to simply kick the door wide open.

I cautiously took a look inside, only to see Mack and Angel whimpering with fear in the corner of the room.

The room was an absolute mess, all the furniture was disarranged and their things were scattered everywhere.

Angel stood in front of Mack, making a futile attempt to protect her and seem courageous.

“W-We alerted the police! They'll be he—”

“Who are you?” I asked, interrupting her.

If the police were heading here, that meant I had to act quicker and bring Mack back along with me.

The first thing that I had in mind was to attack, as from what I could see, it didn't seem as they had any weapon, or anything even remotely useful to attack with.

I darted towards Angel and pushed her against the wall, allowing her to fall to the floor and struggle to get up.

Grabbing her by the hair, I hit her head repeatedly onto the wall, making her collapse and fall unconscious.

My head gets hit with a hard remote control thrown from behind.

I turn to Mack, “Stop!” she yells again and again while still hiding in the corner, holding on to her phone tightly.

“Mack,” I say gently, lending her a hand so she could stand up, “Come with me.”

Before I could even react, I felt pain in my chest. It took me a while to realize that Mack had kicked me away and run off.

I wasted so much time here, I need to leave. I carefully went out the window and struggled to climb down the side of the hotel.

At least with Angel unconscious, she won't be able to tell the police which direction I went.

I finally got to the back, there were only a few policemen there, most of them were keeping an eye on the front, or inside the hotel.

I quickly made my way around them and ran towards an area filled with trees.

“Go back now!” I hear a silky voice from behind.

I stopped and turned to see Mack, a gun firmly placed in her hands.

“I said–” She said, choking on her words. Anger written all over her face as she aimed the gun at me.

I muttered my apologies as I took the swiss knife out my pocket.
