Keep Them

*Nikki Night

"I'll talk to you later, Dad. I'm going to relax for a bit." It still sounds werid when I call him 'dad' since I only just met him, but I'm trying.

So after accepting Riley as my mate, I went to talk to Adrian. He told me things about my mom and about himself.

I felt comfortable talking to him. Strange because usually I can't stand being alone with an older man.

Right now, I'm heading for the waterfall that I used to go with Red.

Suddenly, I hear crying. I look around but I see no one. I follow the cry; it leads me to a tree.

In the middle of the tree trunk is a hole. The crying is coming from in there. I'm scared to put my hands in, though. It's too dark.

"It's okay. They won't hurt you. Put your hands in and grab them." I hear a angelic voice.

I turn and see a beautiful glowing lady with long flowing brown hair and crystal green eyes. She has a glowing halo around her like all the other times that I've seen her in my dreams.

"Mom?" I gasp.

"Hello, my child." Angelika, my mom, greets.

"How is this possible? You're here."

"My child, I have come to warn you. You probably already know that a great evil is coming and only you can stop it. I believe in you, Nikolai. You are very powerful. You will shift into your lion two weeks from now. I know that your birthday is not until December and it is still only August, but the shifter world needs you."

I shake my head, "What do you mean Lion? That's too soon. I'm not prepared."

"Oh, my darling, I don't think anyone can ever be prepared for something like this, but I know you can do it. Yes, you're father is a werewolf, but I am not. I am a lion shifter; you will be able to shift into both your lion and wolf, but your lion is dominant. I have faith in you. Practice your powers right after you shift. The powers that you will gain are not something that someone can help you with. You can't train beforehand because you don't know what kind of powers you will receive. The evil is close but you still have until your birthday before you have to face the evil that lurks in the shadows."

"What about my mate? Will I make it out alive to actually spend the rest of my life with him?"

"That is up to you, Child. I know this is a lot of new information to take in but I believe that you will succeed. Now, you have to believe in yourself."

I nod.

"In that hole are two baby boys. They are tiger shifters. Their pack was attacked by hunters. Their mother was my sister and she placed them here to protect them. Sadly, she went back to get her mate and she was killed. They need a home; they are only 9 months old. They will shift when they turn one in October. Take care of them. I will try to see you soon, my child. I'm sorry but my time is up."

She starts to fade.

"Wait!"

Too late. She's gone.

I snap out of it when I hear more crying. I look at the tree before reaching in.

I stare at the baby in my hand. He's wrapped in a blue cloth. He's beautiful. I set him down gently, to get his brother. I reach in again. This baby is wrapped in a white cloth. Just like his brother, he's beautiful.

Both babies have pitch black hair. Their skin milky white. Their rare purple with blue eyes stare at me in curiosity.

I carefully pick them both up in my arms.

"I'll protect you no matter what, cousins." I cover them with their cloths and head back to the pack house.

Luckily, I make it up the stairs with out bumping into anyone. Unfortunately, Riley is standing next to my bedroom door.

I try to quickly close my door after entering but his foot prevents the door from closing.

"What's under the towel?" Riley asks.

"My laundry." I mutter.

"Nikki, you accepted me as your mate. You can come to me with anything and you won't be in trouble."

I stare into his eyes before I quickly pulls him into my room. I, then, lock the door.

I hold out my hands. Riley grabs the cloth and lifts it up slowly. His eyes widen as he stares at the two babies in my arms.

Before he can say anything, I don't let him. "I'm going to keep them." My face as serious as ever.

"Where did you find them? We have to look for their parents, Nikki." Riley starts to panic.

"Riley, their parents were killed by hunters. I saw my mother in the woods. She told me everything. These boys are my cousins; their mom was my mom's sister. They are tiger shifters; they're only 9 months old. I am going to keep them whether you like it or not. I will protect them."

"How did you see your mother?" Riley asks.

"I don't know. She was suddenly there, like a ghost."

"Tell me everything that happened."

I sigh, but I still tell him everything. From the moment, I left my dad to the moment I rushed home.

Riley's face goes through many emotions throughout my explanation.

"You're shifting soon. Nikki, you need to start training. Obviously, not with your powers, since you don't have them, but you need to learn to fight. At least to know how to defend your self."

"My mother said that training will not prepare me, but I still want you to teach me to fight. I want to know how to defend my self. I mean, look at me, I bet the triplets are in better form than me. They can probably kick my a*s."

Riley chuckles a bit.

The babies start to whine. I carefully place them on my bed and unwrap them. Aw, they're holding hands.

"I want to keep them a secret for now so can you stay with them while I go heat up some milk for them?" I question.

Riley nods, "Yeah, okay. Oh, the baby bottles are on the top right shelf next to the microwave. Since this is the pack house, we have some just in case."

I nod and head down stairs. After about ten minutes of being lost, I bump into Ryan and a blond haired girl.

"Hey, Nikki." Ryan greets.

I can actually tell him about from Riley. Firstly, I don't feel attracted to Ryan. Secondly, Ryan give off a 'bad boy' aura and Riley gives off a 'possessive, back off' kind of aura; Riley's harder to approach Riley, though, if you're not family. Riley is sort of like Romeo. Lastly, Riley's eyes are gray and Ryan's are green.

"Hi." I mumble.

"This is Avery, my mate. Avery, this is Nikolai, Riley's mate." Ryan introduces.

"It's nice to meet you, Nikolai." Avery smiles, but her smile is somewhat strange.

"Likewise." I nod to Avery before turning back to Ryan. "Oh, Ryan, can you help me get to the kitchen? I'm still not sure where everything is. I mean, it's a pretty big house."

"Sure. You go down these stairs, take a left then when you see the vase filled with white roses, you take a right and there's the kitchen." Ryan explains.

"Thanks, Ryan." I smile, softly.

From the corner of my eye, I can't help but notice the glares that Avery is giving me. Jealous much?

I walk away, waving slightly to Ryan and ignoring Avery's stares.

I follow Ryan's direction and tada, there's the kitchen. I make sure no one is around and hurriedly grab two bottles from the shelf.

I fill up the bottles and heat them up in the microwave for a bit.

As I was leaving, bottles in my hand, Romeo walks in with my dad.

They look at the baby bottles in my hand and Romeo raises his eyebrow.

I blush, thinking of an explanation. "Riley has werid kinks and I want to show him that I am not werided out so I am also drinking milk from a bottle." I try to lie.

"Okay, sweetie, if that's the story you're going with, then we believe you. Have fun." Romeo pats my shoulder.

My dad just stares at me, confused.

I nod and walk out, but I can still hear them talking.

"You think she's lying?" Dad asks.

"Totally." Romeo confirms.

I giggle and hurry away.

I enter my room to find Riley and the boys on the bed.

Riley's head turns when he hears the door. He smiles, "I found out their names."

"Really? How?" I sit by them on the bed.

"They both have a name bracelet on their wrists. This one," Riley points to the one who has some freckles on his cheeks and the one with the white cloth, "is Tyson. This one," he points to the other one who has the blue cloth, "is Dyson."

"Tyson and Dyson." I nod, giving the babies their bottles. "I like it."

"How long do you want to keep them a secret?"

"I don't know. I'm afraid that someone will try to take them from me." I admit, already attached to them.

"Hey. It's okay to keep them, Nikki. No one will take them from us. I won't let them. Do you trust me?" Riley grabs my hand.

"Yeah, surprisingly, I do trust you. Thank you, Riley." I squeeze his hand.

"So for our date tomorrow, we can just take them with us. Don't worry about it. I planned everything while you were getting the bottles. Later on today, I'll go to the store to buy some baby stuff. Like car seats, diapers we have here, cribs, and some clothes and shoes." Riley explains.

I nod at him.

"Nikki, can I hug you?" Riley asks, nervously.

I smile at his question because he was nice enough to ask. "Yes."

His large arms surround my small body. My arms wrap around his neck as I hug him back. I feel so safe in his arms. I close my eyes as I sigh peacefully.

"I'm glad that you're my mate, Nikolai." Riley whispers in my ear, using my full name and still hugging me.

I squeeze him closer to me, "Me, too, Riley. Me, too." I smile.

So what do you guys think of Avery's glares, do you think that she's jealous or just plain mean? And what anout the Babies?

I just came from San Antonio and I had a blast. On Saturday, we, as in my family and I, went to the outlets to buy cloths for school. I bought a nice backpack, some shirts, and some other cloths. Ooo, I also bought a new phine case. All that I'm still missing are new shoes.

On Sunday, we went to Six Flags Fiesta Texas. It was the bomb. I went on the roadrunner, the log ride, the swings, the scream. I also went on a new water slide then we spent like three hours in the pools just chilling. I bought my brothers some souvenirs since they didn't go and I bought a Bugs Bunny shirt for myself.
