Chapter 24

Trigger warning - general sadness and also mentions of sex at the end

Completing the album is bittersweet for Andy. Of course, he's happy that it's done and he's proud of it, but it means he now has to watch his teenage dream leave him behind, and he can't do anything about it. It's either his husband or his band.

"It's been a pleasure working with you," their producer exclaims, hugging all the men,

Andy smiles, says, "you're a genius," and does his best not to think about how he's about to be replaced by someone he doesn't even know the name of and there's nothing he can do about it.

"I can't believe this is it," Jinxx says, "we're really losing our best member."

The singer wants to tell the violonist to shut up before he starts crying. "You're gonna do amazingly," is what he responds with, while checking his phone and replying to a text from Remington, who's upset because he's somehow lost Harley.

I'll help you find her, Andy types, and then, she is a her, right?

I think Sebastian hid her somewhere. He's a douchebag

Have u checked under the bed? Maybe she fell off?

She's not there :(

I'll come look for her when I get there, okay? I gtg now, see u soon

Chin up, princess. See you later.

Andy sits in the car after hugging his now ex-bandmates, presses his hands into his eyes as to force himself not to cry, and turns the key. There's no need to cry over this, he tells himself. No need to get so emotional. It's not a big fucking deal. And if it's not a big deal, then why does it feel like his world is slipping from beneath him and soon he'll have no where to stand? Why does it feel like that if it's not a big deal?

He drives straight to the hospital, stopping the car and putting his head on the steering wheel. Don't cry!

An ambulance rushes into the carpark, halts right by the entrance to the building. Just over a week ago, that would have been Remington in there. Andy's phone rings. He answers.

"It's Olivia from social services," a woman speaks, "am I speaking to Andy Biersack?"

The man says she is, that he's Andy, and waits for her to continue.

"Kacey was found late last night. She's been taken to hospital to be checked over and then will be transferred into a children's home. We want to thank you for all your help and for bringing her to our attention. She'll be much safer now."

Andy is releieved. "I'm glad she's okay," he says, "happy to help."

After the phone call, he opens the car door, gets out, locks the vehicle, and goes inside. The receptionist recognises him today, says hello and that he's free to go through, and the man walks down the hall, knocking on the door before stepping into the room. "Any luck?" He asks, looking at Remington, who shakes his head.

"I dunno where she's gone," the boy mumbles, "can you come give me a hug?"

"Absolutely. How's your day been? Done anything exciting?"

"They made me eat solid food."

Andy sits on the bed. "And how did that go?"

Remington shrugs.

"Here, hug."

The younger settles in hus hisband's arms, asking, "today was your last day with your band, wasn't it?" And taking the silence as a yes. "I really think you should go with them."

Andy sighs. "I can't," he says.

"Why not?"

"Because it's not safe for you to fly and I can't go without you."

"You can," Remington insists, "Andy, I don't wanna be the reason you can't be in your own band. That' not fair on you at all. You've had the band way before I even knew you existed. You can't give it all up for me."

"Well what am I supposed to do? Leave you here and spend every waking minute wishing I was with you?"

Remington should never have brought this up, he realises. "Long distance relationships are a thing, you know."

"Needing a hug from your husband is also a thing. You really think either of us could manage not being able to hug eachother for months and months at a time? Because I don't."

Andy's right. Remington knows he is. They'd both crash if they had to be countries apart for months. "I just don't want you to sacrifice this for me. That's all."

"I know. And I get it. Trust me, I do. But, sweetie, I can still do music without my band. But you know what I can't do? Find another Remington in America. Because there's only one of you and I need you, okay?"

The boy wants to cry. How has this become so complicated? "Sorry," he whispers, "I feel like it's all my fault."

"No, kitty, please don't think it's your fault. It's just life being a bitch and it's okay. We're okay. Let's just not keep fighting about this, okay? It's not worth the tears."

"I'm just...I'm having a bad day," Remington mumbles, lifting his head up to rub his eyes and closing them when Andy kisses his forehead. "All day I've needed a cuddle and I couldn't find Harley and it just kept going wrong."

"Good thing I'm here to give you a cuddle then, huh? I'm sure Harley will turn up, kitty."

"And Sebastian gave me a hug but it's not the same when I want you."

Andy holds the younger's face in his hands, smiling, and Remington can't not blush. "There we are," Andy purrs, accomplished, "I made you blush."

Remington whines.

"Oh, I heard back from social services about Kacey. They found her and she's okay."

"That's good."

The man hums. "It is good. Your eyes are perfect."

"No, yours are."

"It's like looking into heaven."

Remington scrunches his face up, grabbing his lover's hand and licking his knuckles.

It makes Andy chuckle. "You are odd."

"I know. Can I ask you something?"

"'Course you can. I'm all ears."

"You're not. You're-like-seventy percent water, actually."

Andy rolls his eyes.

"Anyway, my question. Don't laugh, okay?"

Smiling, Andy raises an eyebrow. "Well now I'm scared."

"Would you ever have sex in public?" He grins after asking, watching how Andy tries to keep a straight face. "I'm just curious."

"Are we talking-like-actually in public? Like with people watching?"

"No, just in a public bathroom or something."

"Sure I would. Would you?"

Remington laughs.
