Eleven
Yoongi wanted breakfast. He felt like he was starving because he had barely eaten his hamburger from last night and he slept throughout the whole day, so he was pretty hungry. While he was outside with Taehyung, he dragged him to the freezer— which he realized that he goes to a lot. It was placed next to the grill on the back patio, which the two men were happy about because the freezer was still cold and kept their food frozen.
Taehyung watched Yoongi as he stepped up quickly to the freezer and opened it.
There wasn't a lot inside, but there was more than enough to keep them fed for a while. They hadn't really thought about how long the power would be out for, even though it had already been three days almost. It actually didn't worry them too much. They liked the loneliness.
Yoongi stepped on his toes as he eyed a frozen pack of bacon. It was at the very bottom, so he leaned over into the freezer and reached his arm out to try and reach for it. Taehyung watched as Yoongi's feet almost started dangling from the freezer. He smiled at the shorter as he finally jumped back down.
"There's some oats in the lodge." Yoongi holds up the bacon and smiles. "Let's go."
The two go back into the house and made their way to the kitchen. Yoongi put his precious handy lantern on the counter and started to cut the bacon as Taehyung boiled water and searched for the oats.
The perfect team.
Except for when Yoongi asked Taehyung to look for the oil. He did. He did look for it. And when he found it, he opened it. And when he opened it he dropped it, which made oil fall all over the floor. Yoongi hadn't noticed and Taehyung was too busy getting napkins to clean it up to notice Yoongi walking straight towards the oil, not paying attention.
Next thing Taehyung knows, Yoongi is falling backwards. Yoongi felt the slippery floor below him as he slipped in the oil, feeling his feet slide and his legs log out like they were in some sort of game that they didn't want to play anymore. He fell onto the floor with a scream and thanked everything that he no longer had his scissors in his hands. The fall hurt, but not too bad. He looked around to see oil and scrunched his nose as he heard a laugh.
Yoongi was embarrassed, but the smile on Taehyung's face made him smile as well. He looked up at the younger, who was leaning over the counter and trying not to laugh, but it failed as Yoongi started to laugh as well.
Yoongi sadly smiled at him as he lifted himself up off the ground. "Stop it." He pouted as he reached for his butt to wipe off the dirty floor, but his hand got covered in oil instead.
Taehyung laughed even more as Yoongi looked behind him to see oil on his clothes. Yoongi poked his lips out and pouted. The younger finally got himself together and waved his arms in front of him frantically.
"No," He pursed his lips together, trying to hide his smile. "I'm not laughing at you."
The older squinted at him and scrunched his nose as Taehyung started to walk towards him, paper towels in his hands already. He gives the paper towels to Yoongi, who instantly starts to wipe off his ass and hip from the oil. Taehyung wasn't laughing anymore as Yoongi moved the towel against the curves of his body. Shit got a lot more serious as he watched Yoongi touching his own ass repeatedly.
"U-Um.. Don't worry." Taehyung clears his throat and forces his eyes to look at something, anything else. "Remember when we made a promise? I won't tell anyone or judge you." He nodded to himself as he went to get more paper towels to clean up the mess he made.
Yoongi was too busy rubbing at his back pocket. "I'm going to go change." He said. "And if you really wont judge me.." He peaked up at Taehyung, who wasn't looking back at him.
"I'd never." Taehyung mumbled.
-
The only thing that Yoongi really had left to wear that wasn't in his dirty clothes hamper was his yellow hoodie and his ripped skinny jeans. He never usually wears them, but they're both his favorite clothing items he owns. He bought them about a year or two ago and the jeans fit perfectly against his legs.
His hoodie is big, but he likes big hoodies. Likes feeling bigger and likes how much room it has and likes that it covers how small he is— even though the hoodie actually makes him look smaller. Don't tell him that, though.
He thinks the yellow looks so much better on him than the black colors he usually wears. Black is pretty much all he's owned since high school and that's what his closet consists of still today, even if there are no high school jerks to make fun of him. He won't risk it.
He pretty much decided to never ever try to look pretty ever again. It hurt him last time.
But, he's on vacation and even though he's inside the house, skinny jeans and his hoodie is all he has right now. He'd like to dress more comfortable, but it's whatever. Too bad.
He wore the yellow hoodie and skinny jeans and smiled a giddy smile as he looked into the mirror. The jeans and hoodie look so perfect. Like they were made for each other.
"Hyung!"
Yoongi blinked in the mirror as he heard Taehyung from downstairs. Right. Food.
He ran out of his room and down the stairs, running to the kitchen. "Yes?" He asked as Taehyung came into his view. He was trying to add oats into the boiling water.
"How do I—" Taehyung turned to Yoongi with the dry oats in his hands. His eyes widened as he looked at Yoongi, who just stood there. He was afraid of what Taehyung was going to say.
'What the hell are you wearing?'
'You look like a girl.'
Or maybe he was scared of what Taehyung was going to do. Or if he'd do anything.
He knows how the human mind works too well at this point. Everyone is judgy and nobody cares to hurt someone else— even if it is just a cute flowery hoodie and jeans.
"Hyung," The way Taehyung's eyes softened a little made Yoongi's whole chest ache. "You're freaking adorable as hell." Taehyung smiled and Yoongi was fucking done for. Kim Taehyung had finally broke him for good.
Yoongi's cheeks heated up faster than the oven did and he clenched his sweater paws tightly as he looked away from the younger.
Taehyung was in awe at the sight of Yoongi. His soft blonde hair falling into his eyes and the pastel beauty of clothes that he was wearing made his mind go blank. He hadn't even realized that he called Yoongi adorable. The blush on Yoongi just made him look even more beautiful. And Taehyung was right. Soft colors on soft Yoongi looks amazing.
And the flowers on the hoodie? Adorable.
"L-Let's just cook." Yoongi mumbled.
Taehyung nodded. "Yes, sir."
-
Taehyung had learned some piano back in high school. He has a keyboard in his house that he plays around with sometimes.
When his fingers pressed against the piano, he wasn't expecting Yoongi to suddenly bust out dancing all over the floor and laughing all of his worries away so freely. It made Taehyung play piano just as excited and freely. He dramatically played, and Yoongi's feet just traveled wherever as he laughed loudly.
They looked like fools, but didn't care.
Taehyung loved that.
Loved the feeling in his bones as he danced at the piano. Loved that the realization came to him that he had lost sight of the bigger picture in life. Happiness. Fun and joy instead of always being discouraged or busy with life and work. The darkness was pushed aside and Taehyung felt like himself again.
All it took was Yoongi and the look of passion in his eyes. Yoongi and his laugh, and the way he's understanding and fun to be around. All it took was watching Yoongi dancing and Taehyung laughing loudly at the piano as Yoongi almost tripped over himself. All it took was Yoongi and his caring self.
That's really all it took.
Like it was Taehyung's awakening.
Taehyung had always known who he is. He had always stood out. He always had a laugh that was contagious and everyone used to always want to get to know him. Taehyung used to have countless friends and would be the perfect model student in school.
Work took over him. Life took over him and the way he lived. He let his own self guide him away and into someone he's really not. It's like the own darkness that Taehyung created just grabbed him and pulled him away from life.
This vacation is exactly what he needed. Yoongi is exactly what he needed right now.
Four years of Taehyung living his pitiful life and it merely took meeting Yoongi to make him realize that he's missing out on life.
Yoongi and his contagious laugh as he danced happily. Yoongi and the electric feeling Taehyung gets every time he so much as breathes near him. And how Taehyung can't even take his eyes off of him. Like nothing else exists when Yoongi is right there next to him.
It may sound cheesy as hell, but the feeling that Taehyung has is just so different.
He's never felt like this. Not even with his best friend. Not with anyone but Yoongi.
"Hyung," Taehyung started to play a slower song on the piano and Yoongi stopped dancing wildly and just plopped his whole body against the floor, out of breath from dancing so much. "do you know this song?" Taehyung asked. It was a slow song that graduated gets more intense as it goes on. It's on the tip of Yoongi's tongue.. It's Lay Me Down. But, Taehyung hadn't played it yet. Just the beginning.
Just the few notes.
But that's all Yoongi needed to know what song it was. He reviewed it once, actually.
Yoongi smiled up at the ceiling as he listened to the song. He didn't know that Taehyung could play so well. He also didn't know that dancing so much was so tiring until now.
"Of course." He finally answered.
Taehyung smiled softly to himself as his long fingers pressed against the keys. He looked down at Yoongi and his smile grew bigger. It took everything in him to stop smiling and start singing along with the keys— so softly.
Yoongi's eyes widened as he leaned up on his elbows to look up at the younger. He keeps getting surprised by him as the days go by. He's a completely different person than he knew.
Taehyung's singing was like honey. It was thick and smooth, and Yoongi was melting at the sound of it. His face as he sang— his eyes were closed and every time he would hit a higher note, his whole body would react and move to it so naturally that it gave chills to Yoongi's skin. He didn't realize that he was just gaping at him until Taehyung opened his eyes and looked straight back into his eyes.
"But the feeling's overwhelming,
It's much too strong.
Can I lay by your side?
Next to you, you"
Yoongi probably shouldn't have just stared back at him like he was, but Taehyung's voice was absolutely perfect with this song. And the way Taehyung was looking back at him made his whole body freeze in anticipation even though he knew it all meant nothing.
When the last chorus came, Taehyung had went back to closing his eyes while singing. If he hadn't, Yoongi would've broken soon. Taehyung was so into the song that Yoongi almost emotionally felt what Tae was feeling. It was sang with so much emotion, but Yoongi tried not to look too much into it.
Then the song ended.
Taehyung looked down at Yoongi, who was already staring up at him. His mouth was wide open and so were his eyes. Taehyung laughed at the sight, his head falling back slightly.
"Do you know the song True Colors?" He asked as he moved the piano bench back to stand up. Yoongi followed and stood up as well, wiping his jeans off as he nodded at him. "Good." Taehyung stepped right in front of Yoongi merely a foot away and he quickly reached for the older's hands.
He guided Yoongi's hand to wrap around his neck, which made Yoongi step closer to the man. Yoongi's face was turning red and confusion was taking over him as Taehyung rested his hands softly on Yoongi's waist.
"W-What?" Yoongi blinked several times up at the younger, who was way closer than they had ever been before— he thinks.
Taehyung said nothing. Instead, he started to hum the mentioned song as he just swayed with Yoongi, who followed him without question. Taehyung's eyes were closed and his head was tilted back, so Yoongi just stared up at him, still confused and blushing.
Taehyung's big hands on Yoongi's waist was something that Yoongi never knew he needed. Hell, he doesn't even know whats going on, but the look on Taehyung's face was so content. His expression was speaking through the song. Yoongi just wanted to wrap his arms around him and stay like this forever.
Maybe he could.
Maybe he did.
He removed his arms from Taehyung's neck and squeezed his way into Taehyung's arms, wrapping his hands around him and holding onto the back fabric of his jacket just to hold onto something in case he got yelled at.
But he didn't get yelled at.
Taehyung's eyes widened and he almost forgot that he was even singing as his hands reacted, lifting up from Yoongi's body. It didn't take him long to start singing more and wrap his arms around the shorter. His heart was racing and he hoped that Yoongi couldn't hear that. His stomach was swirling as well.
Everybody needs a Yoongi in their lives. Yoongi feels like home and inspiration and all good things wrapped into one human.
And he's pretty.
But that's just a plus.
"Sorry for making this weird." Taehyung lightly chuckled as Yoongi buried his face into his chest and held onto him tighter. Taehyung felt his heart burning at the feeling.
"Just keep singing." Yoongi whispered.
And so he did.
It was so calming and breathtaking to just hold Yoongi and sway with him, time standing still as Yoongi would sometimes suddenly feel the need to squeeze tighter. It was so cute to Taehyung that he basically couldn't stop smiling as he rested his chin on Yoongi.
This felt like the best day in Taehyung's life. The fact that he only has a couple more days left to spend with Yoongi is absolutely shit. He hadn't even barely seen him in proper lighting yet. It's not fair. This vacation is so amazing, yet so terrible at the same time.
If Taehyung could talk to Jimin right now, Jimin would probably accuse him of being a brand new human being. But, if Taehyung had his phone charged, he probably wouldn't have had so much time with Yoongi. He's actually glad for no power, honestly.
That just means more time with Yoongi and nobody else to interrupt their vacation.
"You can let go if you want to." Taehyung's hand made its way to Yoongi's hair and he started to play with it, feeling a lot more comfortable than he has in a while. Yoongi lifted his head from Taehyung's chest and he looked up at him, making Taehyung stop running his fingers through his hair. He was scared that Yoongi would yell at him for touching him so much, but the look in Yoongi's eyes and how close he was to him was making Taehyung's mind and body forget how to function— like he was a broken machine.
Yoongi looking up into Taehyung's eyes was breathtaking to him. The slightly confused expression and wide eyes made Taehyung think way too much about how cute he looked. His whole mind was controlled by Yoongi.
"I-I mean.." Taehyung removed his hands from Yoongi and earned a pout in return.
"I didn't even say anything." Yoongi's eyebrows furrowed as he pulled Taehyung back towards him and wrapped his arms securely around him again. Taehyung couldn't help but smile as Yoongi dug his face into his chest again. "You can't just sing to me and dance with me and," Yoongi picked up Taehyung's hand and brought it back to his hair. Taehyung instantly started to play with it again. "And you can't just play with my hair like that and expect me not to fall in love with it." He said.
Taehyung's whole body felt like it was going to explode at this point. The smile was growing bigger and bigger as Yoongi spoke.
"Ah, hyung.." Taehyung ruffled Yoongi's hair softly. "You mean you're falling for me?"
Yoongi huffed as he playfully pushed Taehyung away, obviously blushing now. Taehyung just laughed down at him.
"You wish." Yoongi bit his lip.
Yeah, you wish.
