Five Smooth Stones (Willing to Wait)

I'm just tall enough to see the light that comes over the mountain.

Where I am, those around me feed me and my thirst is quenched by how I feel.

When each night falls I feel abandoned even though I know that

Enemies are far and friends are near. Here I keep vigil in the night to

Save my soul. If only I could be hidden to just the right people.

My song is dreary and it tires me. Each time I sing it I am more bleak.

Sun-fading feels like what I have done. I've faded into some colours plain

And solid without flaws or harsh streaks. No longer are the hues uneven.

I'm faded by the sun and weathered by this life, now fit to live, live, live.

Now smoothed just like a stone that spent its pre-life time awaiting in a brook,

Awaiting here with my closest friends. My four friends. Five smooth stones, we exist.

Awaiting for our call, and for the giant we one day will surely slay.

While only one of us must fly out from the sling, yet all of us must go.

We must all be chosen. We must all be ready. We must all be willing

To forego our imperfections and our unfulfilled desires unto now.

Willing to go. Willing to wait. Willing to wait.
