Chapter 8: Day 4-Aurum
6:15 A.M.
Sailor: "Sinakumi!"
Sinakumi: "...Sailor...? Sailor, you're here! And...you're late...!!!"
Sailor: "Sina, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!"
Sailor bursts through the doorway of the pizzeria, seeing Sinakumi sort-of running toward her, towing a pretty beaten-up man, and holding a torn-up hat that's probably his. Behind her...
Sailor: "SINA!!! BEHIND YOU!!! DROP THE GUY AND GO!!!"
Sinakumi: "I can't just leave him!"
Animatronics...slowed down by the slowly-waking-up program...are lumbering toward a tear-streaking Sinakumi and an attempting-to-walk-when-he-probably-hasn't-for-awhile man, in their animatronic robot form. Sailor, not wanting to wait much longer, kicks the door wide open and practically drags Sinakumi and the man to the Ferrari. They look back once they leave the pizzeria. The animatronics are unable to leave.
Sinakumi: "What...?"
Sailor: "Let's GO!!!"
Sailor picks the man from Sinakumi's tow and throws him into the car, in the backseat. Then she shoves Sinakumi into the passenger seat, jumps into the driver, then peels off into the road. Good thing this was a video game, because she probably hit a 100 miles per hour. Very soon...she reached the hotel.
Clerk: "Welcome ba- oh my...!"
Sinakumi: "We'll take care of it!"
They cram themselves into the elevator and go straight to the 5th floor. They all flop to the floor gasping...especially the man.
Sailor: "So...who's...the...banged-up guy...?"
Sinakumi: "He...hah...hah...was...to weak to...answer...earlier..."
Sailor: "Well...*gulp*, hah...we need to fix him up. Does that packed room of ours...have any first-aid kit?"
Sinakumi: "Real hope so...there's no kit at the pizzeria...despite all the accidents going on there."
*****
The man was carried all the way to Sinakumi's room. The couch in the living room was obviously for only two people, because it wasn't long enough to lay him out properly. Sailor goes off to bring a first-aid kit while Sinakumi was left to get his name out of him.
Sinakumi: "Hang on...Sailor's getting a first-aid kit...and maybe food."
???: "...She was unexpected..."
Sinakumi: "Well, that was because we were in a hurry. She tends to get aggressive when people she cares about are in danger."
???: "...But she doesn't know me..."
Sinakumi: "I don't exactly, either."
She says in a smooth, calm voice, trying to sound persuasive. Sinakumi secretly wondered if she was charm-speaking him. If she was, it's working.
???: "...what are you implying...?"
Sinakumi: "Erm...it would be nice if we knew your name..."
???: "...what..."
Sinakumi: "W-well...my name is Sinakumi Author...my friend's name is-"
Sailor: "Sailor Pisces. Here. Found a first-aid, kit, water, Pocky, and some guy-looking clothes."
Sailor comes back in, wearing her once-usual, loose-sleeved, purple shirt, jeans, and was now walking barefoot. She came over to the man and skillfully started patching up his wounds. After cleaning him up...him starting to look a lot less like a shredded doll and more like a guy recovering from a car accident...Sailor could now clearly see his black eyes.
Sailor: "O-Oh, my GOSH! What the-?!"
Sinakumi: "What? Oh...um...I thought that was just lighting and wounds..."
The man groans...looking away with a grim and somewhat guilty look on his face. They helped him up, both realizing that he was quite light. Then...they carefully started undressing him...(ick, I know, but bear with me)...and quickly putting his new clothes on...trying hard not to hurt him. The lower part was even harder. Though...they managed to get his clothes on...mostly without seeing. Once they were done (all of them pretty red in the face), Sailor gave the box of Pocky to him and a bottle of cold water. He fumbled to open the cap, as if his fingers were jelly. So Sinakumi unscrewed the cap and brought it up to his lips. He spilled at first, but started drinking in big gulps.
Sinakumi: "And...maybe we should get him something...softer to eat."
Sailor: "What? Oh...right, yeah. I'll go, uh, make...you know what? You're the better cook. Go make something."
Playfully, Sailor pushes Sinakumi out of the room, the two giggling a bit. Sinakumi decides to make rice porridge while Sailor stays with the black-eyed man.
Sailor: "So...you feeling better?"
???: "...Better...yeah, I guess..."
Sailor: "Can you tell us your name now?"
???: "......um...."
Sailor: "Or...maybe you don't...remember?"
The man pauses for a moment. Then nods slightly, looking guilty again. He doesn't really look at Sailor in the eye, she thinks it's because on how she reacted on what his eyes looked like.
Sailor: "Hey, look, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be so surprised...I just...wait, how DID your eyes get like that in the first place?"
The man didn't answer. So, she just assumed that he didn't know.
Sailor: "You know what? When Sina gets back in here, we'll pick out a name for you. Hey, Sina! How long are you gonna take?"
Sinakumi: "Well..."
Sinakumi pokes her head out of the door, wearing an apron and gloves (I made rice porridge, 2/19, yesterday ago, and burnt myself...so, I gave her that stuff) and her hair tied up, smiling at the two of them.
Sinakumi: "It needs to cook for awhile. Though, I can't be in long."
She comes over, pulls a chair from the desk over to the bed and leans forward. She grins that grin that tells Sailor that she knew something that she was supposed to know afterward. In this case, she was eavesdropping.
Sailor: "Seeing your face, you know what I'm gonna ask you."
Sinakumi: "You're the author. You should be more creative with names than me."
Sailor: "Though, you're more...just help me with a name. I'm not JK Rowling."
Sinakumi: "Haha...let's see...maybe...we shouldn't do anything regarding his eyes. He doesn't seem to like that."
Sailor: "Yeah..."
Sinakumi: "Though...if he maybe had a bath...his hair would probably be a shiny, golden-brown color."
Sailor: "Huh...looks like the gold rusted. Who knows how long this guy has been in there? He doesn't even remember his name."
Sinakumi: "Mm, yeah...let's not think about that. He might've been tortured."
Sailor: "Good thought...um, yeah, gold..."
Sailor's eyes trace slowly back up to his...golden-brown...rusted...been in the room for a long time...those entirely black eyes with now vibrantly glowing white lights...Sailor didn't want to believe it's him. How come they weren't dead, yet? Sailor was half grateful that Sinakumi was late to the party on FNAF. She figured that she might have changed his judgement on killing them.
Sinakumi: "...How about it, huh, Sailor? Sailor? Are you okay?"
Sailor: "Hm? Me? Yeah, I'm awesome. What were you saying? Sorry, I was heading to Pluto..."
Sinakumi: "Haha, funny, I was thinking...how about we name him...erm, how about...Aurum."
Sailor: "...Aurum. Where. Did you get. Aurum. From. Wait, how do you even spell that?"
Sinakumi: "Aurum. A-U-R-U-M. It's Latin for gold. We learned that when studying the periodic table forever ago."
Sailor: "Well...didn't think you'd say that. So, you want your name to be Aurum?"
They both look back at the man. He thinks about it, his white lights, looking up...then...the two sees a small smile bloom on his face. It was a little sad and cracked-looking but it showed a lot.
Aurum: "...Yeah...*cough*...Aurum. I like it."
Sinakumi: "Well, hello, Aurum, my name is Sinakumi."
Sailor: "And hello, Aurum, my name is Sailor."
Aurum: "H-hi...Sina...kumi...Sinakumi...and hi...Sailor...I'm...Aurum."
The three chuckle a bit. Yeah, even him. He liked his name. He even marveled it, found it interesting, brand-new and accepting. He silently thanked the girls for the name...though, felt pretty helpless, knowing the situation they were in...but something said that maybe he was better off not even being with them. That thought made him sad, therefore his smile faltered. Sailor saw this and rushed out of the room, looking excited.
Sinakumi: "Sailor? Where are you going?"
Sailor: "I gotta another present for Aurum!"
She comes back in...driving a wheelchair.
Aurum: "O-oh..."
Sinakumi: "Wow, Sailor, that's a great idea!"
Sailor: "While we're on the topic of 'great ideas', another great idea would be to either to turn the heat down on the stove-"
Sinakumi: "Oh! I forgot!"
Sinakumi dashes out of the room, both Sailor and Aurum chuckling.
Sailor: "-or the food's ready."
Sinakumi: "It's ready!"
Sailor goes up to Aurum and sits him up...then ever-so carefully, she stands him up...pulling the wheelchair toward them. Since he was light, Sailor didn't think it would be such a problem, but after he slumped over and fell onto Sailor, pushing both of them into the chair, she felt in her gut that she should've seen this coming.
Sinakumi: "Sailor? Aurum? Did something happen? I heard a thudding noise..."
Sailor: "N-no...! We're okay...! We'll get there!"
She then even more carefully sat him in the chair, both of their faces were slightly pink. Then she pushes him in his new wheelchair into the kitchen, where Sinakumi was setting up plates like a mother.
Sinakumi: "Hey! Aurum, you don't look too bad in a wheelchair."
Aurum: "...You think so?"
Sinakumi: "Yeah, I do. Hey, while you're helping him, Sailor, do you wanna feed him to? Or can you eat on your own? Because the way how you opened the bottle-"
Sailor: "Okay, okay, okay, if you want me to feed him that badly then, FINE."
The rest of the day was interesting. They talked, had fun, Sailor and Sinakumi talked about this game and where they were really from, and Aurum tried to remember what happened to him...but pretty much couldn't remember. All he said he remembered was...a loud...deafening...crunching/slushing sound.
Sinakumi: "Oh...well, that might've been someone or a group doing something to your body."
Sailor: "Most likely a group. This much damage to one guy? And you said you just found him there, limp and maybe dead."
...and maybe that group of people was some gang of teenaged boys who put him in the jaws of Fredbear. Sailor thought painfully. She didn't want Sinakumi to know. Now that she spent more time with Aurum, she didn't want him to remember either, knowing now that he genuinely had amnesia.
Sinakumi: "Yeah, I want to know what happened to you, Aurum."
Aurum: "I want to know too...honestly, I do."
Sailor: "Hmph, your speech is getting better."
Sinakumi: "Yeah, your voice sounds nice...I mean..."
Aurum/Sailor: "What...?"
Sinakumi: "I...uh...I meant...I meant that...yeah! His voice sounds normal! Am I right...?!"
Sailor had switched the topic, hopefully to stay that way. Aurum seemed to notice, and glanced at her. Sailor then stood up and headed to her room.
Sinakumi: "What are you getting now?"
Sailor pops back into the room, holding a pair of those bodyguard-looking sunglasses. She puts them on Aurum's face and brush his bangs a little. The two actually thought that he looked kinda cool.
Sailor: "Can you see okay?"
Aurum: "Yeah...I can still see you guys."
Sinakumi: "He looks like one of those lifeguard guys...but with longer pants and no whistle."
Sailor: "Mm, so lifeguards don't wear shoes?"
She nodded toward Aurum's bare feet. Sinakumi snickers.
Sinakumi: "Yeah, I guess they do now."
Time ticks on...inching closer and closer toward nighttime...
Aurum: "Then...this is the fifth night."
Sailor: "If Scott's generous, then maybe our last."
Sinakumi: "But then..."
She glances back at Aurum. They were now thinking the same thing. If they can leave the game, they'd also have to leave Aurum. And they were getting so close.
Aurum: "It's alright...if anything...you guys better come back home alive."
Sinakumi: "But what about...?!"
Aurum: "Don't worry about me. I'm just a string of code in a mass video game, like you said."
Sailor: "But...you have feelings! You were hurt! And you FELT it!"
Aurum: "That doesn't matter."
Sinakumi: "Of COURSE it matters! You're our friend! You're coming out with us!"
The two both hug Aurum in his wheelchair. He hesitates...but then gently hugs them back. They're all tearing up. And for the first time...they're actually wishing for Scott to drop the sixth night on them...as long as they can help Aurum...and maybe the rest of them, too.
