3 Days before the Party
Fredbear's Family Diner. A place where fantasy and fun comes to life for children and adults alike. The famous slogan of the diner that Freddy Fazbear's Pizza had adopted upon it's recent grand opening. William Afton and his business partner and best friend, Henry Emily had opened up the new restaurant as a way to not only promote the cartoon of their characters, but also as a nice send off to Fredbear's Family Diner that would close at the end of 1983. The kids loved Freddy, Chica, Bonnie, and Foxy. Hopefully Fredbear and Spring Bonnie could make a return but it was unlikely. William was reluctant to let go but he was willing to accept it, however, this caused him to have an idea.
While William and Henry would rotate shifts and management of the two restaurants, William had an idea to open up a new pizzeria alongside Freddy's. He was still workshopping the idea so there was nothing concrete planned yet. Because the two were working on managing Fredbear's while getting Freddy's ready, none of the two men had any time to work on the animatronics for Freddy's, which is why they enlisted another engineer to make the four animatronics. An engineer named, Edwin Murray. Edwin's work was not bad, in fact, it went so far as to impress Henry and William to the point that they would want Edwin to work on every future animatronic. It was no question that the man was a genius and he was currently on a phone call with Henry who was managing Fredbear's Family Diner for the day.
"So, there's no problems with them?" Henry said into the phone while he was in his and William's office. "That's great news. We had to repaint some spare springlock suits to look like Freddy and Bonnie and use them in place. The kids were starting to wonder where Chica and Foxy were but you're saying that they're all done? Edwin, you just saved my life." The man looked at the clock before looking at a picture of his wife and his children on his desk. "No, no. It's fine. I'm actually gonna head to the factory after I pick up my kids from daycare. How's David by the way?"
Henry listened before the door opened, revealing William. Henry held his hand up, signalling William to wait until the conversation was done. Afton being a patient man just nodded and walked in before closing the door behind him.
"That's great to hear. Hey, maybe we could use that tech for future animatronics... Yeah... Thanks. I'll be on my way with a pick up crew. You'll find your paycheck in the mail... Have a good day, Edwin." Henry finally hung up causing William to look at him with a raised eyebrow.
"You were speaking to Edwin Murray, I'm assuming?" William broke the silence between the two while Henry got his jacket that was hanging on the coat rack. "Yeah. Freddy, Chica, Bonnie, and Foxy are all ready. I'm gonna go pick up Charlie and Sammy from daycare before heading over to the factory."
"Would have been nice to have the animatronics before opening day for Freddy's." William said sourly before he looked at his friend. "I came here to help some new hires learn how to use the springlock suits. I brought Michael and Evan with me."
"Where's Elizabeth?"
"At home spending time with her mother. The boys would get in the way of that with their antics and I'd rather have Michael here where I can keep a close eye on him."
"Aren't you going a little too hard on Michael? Kid's a teenager, he's gonna resent you in the future ya'know."
"You raise your kids how you see fit, I'll raise mine how I see fit. Sorry if I came off as cold, I just have a lot on my mind right now, especially dealing with the fact that I had to leave Scott in charge of managing Freddy's while I'm gone.
"Okay, just take it easy. Our jobs can be stressful but you can't let it get to you. Besides, Scott knows what he's doing. We did make him manager of this place before the new place opened up after all. I'll call you tonight after the animatronics are shipped to Freddy's. Have fun, Will." Henry said before leaving the office. William took a seat at his desk before scowling at some documents that were laid out on the table.
While William was in the office, Michael was in the party room with his brother eating pizza. Evan was enjoying his pizza while Michael was tired. School was boring for him and to make matters worse, instead of being at the arcade with his friends or doing something remotely fun, he was stuck at his father's stupid diner looking after his crybaby brother while being surrounded by many more snot-nosed brats.
"What am I even doing here?" Michael asked himself before a Spring Bonnie hit him at the side of his head. The Afton teen's scowl intensified before Evan got up to play with the other kids. "Could be having fun with me mates but I'm stuck watching that little wanker. And that bellend in the office has me here because he couldn't be arsed to take care of his own kid." As he saw the kids play, Michael grew more frustrated and said frustration was intensified when he watched Evan play with them. The boy was shy, but was settling in well with the crowd.
Feeling like he had enough, the eldest Afton child got up saying, "Fuck this. If the crybaby can play around and have fun, then why can't I?" His blue eyes darted toward the entrance before he smirked and walked. "The old codger is still here anyway, so he can take Crybaby back home with him."
After Michael had left, Evan looked back to see where his brother was only to find nobody where Michael was sitting. The youngest Afton male looked around for his older brother before starting to panic. "Michael!" He called out, "Michael!" He called out again. His elder brother did not respond. The children were a nice distraction, but Fredbear and Spring Bonnie walking toward the crowd caused the boy to seek out his brother. His breathing became more rapid before tears started flowing out of his eyes. All the boy could do was hide under a table and hold onto his Fredbear plush.
"He left without you." Fredbear said to him. Only Evan could hear the plush as the sounds of laughter and playful screaming was enough to not draw attention to it. "He knows that you hate it here," Fredbear told Evan who was shaking. "You are right beside the exit. If you run, you can make it." Evan stayed there, praying someone can help him. He prayed for Michael to come back, for William or Uncle Henry to take him home. "Hurry, run toward the exit." Fredbear kept encouraging the boy to get up and leave.
Evan slowly got up from under the table before he started walking toward a door. As he took a few steps forward, Fredbear yelled, "NO!!! Don't you remember what you saw? The exit is the other way! Hurry and leave." The boy turned around and walked toward the exit but was stopped by the mascot of the diner, Fredbear himself.
"It's too late. Hurry the other way and find someone who will help! You know what will happen if he catches you!" Psychic Friend Fredbear told the boy who ran away from the mascot. As he kept running, he saw Spring Bonnie to the side dancing and singing for the kids. He stopped in his tracks and panicked. He looked at Spring Bonnie before looking back to Fredbear. He kept looking back and forth before his plush said, "You can find help if you can get past them. You have to be strong."
The boy turned away from Spring Bonnie's direction and turned back before seeing his father and an employee of the restaurant. William was seen putting on a Spring Bonnie head over the worker who was inside the springlock suit.
"There. It should be simple. The springlocks are sensitive , so just make sure not to make any extreme movements and be sure to watch your breathing. Stay near the fans at all costs because any extreme movement or any moisture will set the springlocks off and you do not want that happening. Trust me on that one." William explained to the employee.
"Wait, what happens if the springlocks do go off, Mr Afton?" The employee asked, worried before William rolled up his sleeve to show some scars. "These scars were caused by springlock failure. If Henry wasn't there to wind them back, I most certainly would have died. So it is imperative that you stay near trained employees and away from places that causes heat. Don't do anything extreme to impress the kids, and if you're worried about singing, the suits serve their purpose as animatronics so you will be called backstage to remove them. Do I make myself clear? Because neither Henry, the restaurant, the company, nor I would be held liable for your negligence."
"Crystal, sir."
As Evan watched that, he tried to find a way to get past the mascots before Fredbear approached him. "Hey there kiddo? You shouldn't be alone here. Why don't you play with the other kids, my friend Spring Bonnie is putting on a good show for them." The boy panicked and curled up on the floor, panicking before Psychic Friend Fredbear said, "Tomorrow is another day."
Fredbear watched in confusion before recognizing the child. "Oh no." He walked away to William who was done teaching the new employees how the springlock suits worked. "Mr Afton!"
"What is it now? Can't you see I'm very busy?" William asked, irritated at his employee who simply pointed at Evan who was crying on the floor. "What happened." William asked, his voice as cold as ever before the Fredbear mascot said, "I don't know. I tried to get him to go to the crowd since he was alone and he started crying on the floor."
"Alo-" William cut himself off before looking for his eldest son only to find no sign of him anywhere in the restaurant. "I'm going to kill that boy one day." William said before taking his pager out of his pocket and typing something on it before putting it back in his pocket. The busy father went to his youngest son and kneeled beside him. "Evan. Evan, look at me."
Evan, who was still crying looked at his father who kneeled beside him with a concerned face. "Come on, get up." The boy slowly got up while William wiped his tears away with a soft smile. "Why don't you come with me to the office. I have to make a call to your mother and tell her I'll be taking you home." The boy nodded with a weak smile before William got up and walked away, holding his son's hand to guide him.
When they got to the office, William made a call to his house which his wife picked up. William told her the news before getting frustrated and talking about Michael and his stunt. Both parents had a back and forth before the Afton patriarch hung up. He looked at his son and picked the boy up before leaving the restaurant.
A few hours had passed before Michael had returned home, only to find his parents waiting with crossed arms and scowls on their faces. "So, Michael. Care to tell us where you've been?" Michael's mother started. The teenager looked at his mother before his father said, "I waited for you at the restaurant. I had to leave early to take your brother home. Where were you?"
"You know... Around..." Michael said, not looking his parents in the eye. "Around? Around?!" Michael's mother yelled angrily before William held her shoulder.
"Dear, please. Let me." William said before stepping forward. "I'm not sure how many punishments I can give you. How many punishments your mother can give you. You seem to shrug it off as it it's nothing." Michael looked at his father who looked at him. "You have four options, boarding school, military school, an immediate eviction and disowning, or you can get your act together, because I have just about had it with you!"
Michael stepped back before looking at his mother, "Normally I wouldn't agree to such extremes, but you're making it very difficult for us to deal with your crap, Michael. Not only do you owe your father and brother an apology, but you'll be grounded until graduation if you choose to clean up your act."
"Believe me, Michael. I've been as lenient as I could regarding you and your behavior, but I'm not tolerating any of this nonsense of yours anymore. You have a choice to make because you basically signed away your freedom for until you move out with that stunt you pulled earlier today. Now, what's it going to be?" William asked Michael after telling him about how much trouble he was in.
All the teenager could do was say, "I'll get my act together. I'll do as you say."
"Good. No get to your room and get out of my sight." William said before Michael started to walk toward his room. "Since you're grounded Michael, the only times you get to leave that room is for school, work at Fredbear's, or for when we eat. You get no snacks, no friends will visit and you will not talk to your friends at all either. I don't want to hear a peep out of you." Michael nodded before William finished, saying, "Oh, and Michael. I'm always watching."
"I'm really disappointed in you, Michael. I really expected better from you." Michael's mother said before the teen went to his room before closing the door behind him. Mrs Afton looked at her husband before saying, "Do you think we did the right thing? I know this seems extreme but that boy is driving me to my wits end."
"Love, it had to be done. Who knows what Michael could end up doing should his behavior go unchecked. Try and get some sleep, I'll clean up the dishes tonight." William said before kissing his wife's forehead before walking off to the kitchen.
After Michael went to his room, he laid on his bed, thinking about his life and everything that got him to that point. His brother. Elizabeth wasn't a problem ever since she became a toddler. Evan was always a problem. Michael always had to walk around egg shells around his kid brother and he hated it. Evan being a crybaby led to him not having fun, it led to him having as little a life as he possibly could and when he wanted to have a life, his brother would be the reason he'd be pulled back and in trouble no less. Michael got angry, and with his anger festering in him, he began to concoct a plan to get back at his brother on Saturday. He thought of it all, the perfect scare tactic to make the crybaby man up for once in his life. He was through protecting him. With his plan made, he went to sleep, still angry at what happened to him.
Meanwhile in Evan's room, the boy was struggling to sleep. He looked around hoping Freddy would not come for him. He kept an eye out for the bear before his closet opened revealing Chica, in the same condition as Freddy was. She stared at him before he heard a tap on his window. The boy looked back to see Freddy's hand on the glass before the bear looked at him. The boy quickly ran to the window and closed the curtains before Chica was slowly exiting the closet. The animatronic chicken walked up to the boy before grabbing him and roaring at him, scaring him before Freddy entered through the window. The bear then roared after Chica let go, before grabbing the boy and biting into his skull.
All Evan could do was scream before he woke up and looked around his room. The nine-year old trembled under his bedsheets while looking at the window and closet all night, not getting a lick of sleep. He was worried they would return, so he stayed up all night to keep watch.
