💫 Winter Fling (Part 2) 💫

"Shit, these bags keep getting heavier and heavier!" (Y/n) huffs as she lugs bags full of groceries and home stuff back home after her trip to Animal Kingdom, needing to cook proper food and clean the house once she gets back before she starts training or there would be no way of her having the time to do that again. She groans in relief when she gets to the elevator, the walk from the bus stop to her apartment ten minutes too long. Smashing the button for her floor, she rests before the doors open again and she waddles out to her apartment-thank god it was close by-and unlocks the door to jump in before it slams shut behind her. "For fucks sake!" She hisses, carefully lowering the stuff on the floor before stretching her back, moving to put the food and stuff in its rightful places before going to her shared bedroom to change into house clothes. "I hate adulting..." she sighs out, unlocking the bedroom door but stops short when she notices someone else in the room that usually was empty.

"You!" Both gasp out and (y/n) jumps forward to quickly hide her clothes beneath the blankets, absolutely embarrassed at the state she was in as Five blinks at her.

"Hi, I'm your new roommate." He grins at her and she just sputters in embarrassment.

"Sorry about the mess..." she clears her throat, rushing around to clean her side of the room and to quickly hide her laundry on the rack by his window-which was the only window in the room-with her towel.

My underwear is just out in the open here!

Oh my fucking god!

"It's fine. I'm just settling in." Five muses, putting his stuff away in his wardrobe and setting up his bed.

"So you're part of the international college program then?" (Y/n) asks, looking around the room if she needs to hide anything else.

"Yeah. Arrived this morning, remember? Didn't know I would be rooming with you."

"Sorry about that..."

"Oh no, that's fine! Unless you're uncomfortable having a guy here."

"I don't really care. I purposely chose for the program to surprise me about which roommate I would have. So I guess I was surprised."

"Tada!" Five waves his hands jokingly, getting embarrassed very quickly and clearing his throat.

The fuck I do that for!?

"Do you need help? I heard you coming in." He chuckles seeing (y/n) become flustered.

"Shit... uh no but I need to clean the house and cook. I got a sweeper for the floors and bleach for the bathroom."

"How about this, I'll bleach the bathrooms and the countertops and you can clean the floors and the kitchen countertops."

"Yes, please! I didn't know how I was going to get through to everything today!"

"What are roommates for?"

"You're really getting into this huh?"

"Yes."

(Y/n) went to grab her clothes from under the blanket, using her shirt to cover everything. "Uh, I just need to go over a few things about this room we're sharing."

"Shoot."

"You don't mind if I use the window to dry my clothes? I don't want to use up the electricity with the dryer."

"No, I don't mind. I might do the same thing actually. It saves us from paying extra along with our rent."

"Exactly! But do you mind if I keep the window open? It's too cold for me in here and usually the hot air dries the clothes quicker."

"I'm good with that too (y/n). You don't have to worry so much."

"Sorry, one more thing." Five chuckles softly at how nervous (y/n) was with overstepping her boundaries but he didn't mind. He was going to ask her all the same things too. "This might be dumb,"

"It won't be dumb."

"I can't really sleep in the dark, I keep the blinds open to get a little bit of light-"

"-do you want to switch beds?"

"I-" the girl was shocked at how considerate the brunette was. "We shouldn't-"

"I'm happy to switch (y/n)."

"I don't know... I already settled in..."

"I truly don't mind."

"How on earth do you have this much patience?" She blurts out and he laughs.

"I've learned to be patient when I don't want to be, especially with my siblings. And to be honest, none of this bothers me. I already know it's strange to have a guy and a girl rooming together so I want to make this comfortable for you."

"For real!?"

"Yes, for real." He grins, beginning to take off his belongings. "Switch, I think you'll feel better."

"Holy fuck... ok, we just need to go downstairs and fill out the form that we're switching."

"Let's go then."

The two head out of the apartment together to head down to admin to let them know they were switching beds, (y/n) apologising for the trouble even though Five was trying to tell her it was no problem. They filled out all the forms and got them accepted, heading back up to switch their belongings to their new sides of the room.

"How do you feel?" Five asks as he puts everything away on his new side of the bedroom, peeking over the divider between their beds to see (y/n) looking more comfortable.

"To be honest, a lot better actually... back home I sleep on this side of the bed while laying on my left and facing the mirror wardrobe so I think it feels more like home."

"Good. Now that we're all done here, I'll go clean up the bathroom."

"Ok, I'm going to do some cooking before doing the big clean." (Y/n) walks off back to the kitchen, greeting her other roommate she had become friends with. They haven't gotten their roommate yet but it was only a matter of time.

The day was still bright even though it was past 7 now, Five walking out of their room to see (y/n), swinging the front door open frantically and fanning the smoke alarm with a cloth. He noticed a bit of smog and all four windows in the living room also opened.

"You ok?" He snickers, the poor girl all flustered with worry.

"This is my first time cooking in my life and-well it's stressful. I don't want the alarm going off. I can see the smoke in here!"

"Did you burn anything?"

"Thank god no. Money down the drain if I did! I fucking spent over $400 the first two days I got here! Who knew groceries and home stuff were so fucking expensive!"

The boy chuckles and grabs the cloth from the girl, taking her place to fan the smoke alarm. "It smells good though."

"Don't bullshit me." He grins at her as she huffs in exhaustion. "The proportions were all wrong, I didn't have all the ingredients, I didn't have all the spices, and too much onion to lentils I don't know if I cooked the chicken through properly-I had to cut it into pieces just to make sure it was cooked-and its just taking so long to make all this-"

"-you did good for your first time. It happens. You learn as you go."

"You know how to cook?"

"I've been living by myself for a very long time, so yes."

"God, how do you do it..."

"It takes time. Just relax, you've done the cooking now I'll help you clean."

"But-"

"-you're getting all worked up. Just let me help."

"But you already did the bathrooms-" Five closes the door and locks it as he walks to the kitchen and checks below the sink for the cleaning supplies, ignoring (y/n) as she tries to stop him. "Five-"

"-if it makes you feel better, you can clean the kitchen tools and pans and stuff."

"Yeah! Ok, I used them so I should clean them." He shakes his head with a smile and the two go off to clean again, the girl's food cooling off on the coffee table before they put it in the fridge.

"So you never cooked in your life before?" Five asks, closing the windows once everything was done and the sun had set hours ago.

"Not proper food really. Simple things like breakfast stuff. I eat what my mum cooks since I live with her." (y/n) pipes up from the bathroom as she lugs her laundry basket to the washing machine to wash her clothes.

"So this is your first time living away from them?"

"Yeah, I'm surviving. I've been independent for so long that I don't feel homesick. I don't know if that's a good thing or bad thing though..."

"You don't miss your family or friends?"

"I... not really... even talking to them is-this is going to sound rude-a nuisance or-"

"-a task you don't want to do. I get it. I feel the same way. I was emancipated from my family at a really young age. Smarter than anyone my age so it was easy."

"Well, shit."

The two fall into somewhat awkward but comfortable silence, just completing their tasks for the night before going to sleep.

"Uh, you wanna... shower first or...?" (Y/n) clears her throat.

"You go first. You look exhausted."

"I feel dead, that's for sure, and I gotta wake up early tomorrow for training..."

"That settles it. Go first and go to sleep. I just have orientation tomorrow." Five says.

"Oh! Have fun with orientation then! Thanks for helping me."

"I have to chip in. We all live here."

"Right. Night Five."

"Good night (y/n)."

"I can't believe this fucking shit!" (Y/n) hisses as she slams the door open, scaring Five who was in the kitchen cooking.

"The first time I see you in a week and you're pissed off. Should I be worried?" He raises a brow at her as she drops her stuff on the couch, amused by the cute yellow maid-like skirt uniform she was wearing for work. He had to wear a suit for the resort he was working at and it was suffocating in this heat. "You just disappeared on us."

"My training got postponed and I'm working overtime on my first week of training already! I'm working the next six days!" The girl growls out in frustration, taking her glasses off and running her hands down her face. The brunette didn't know what to do, just stirring the pot since he had been cooking when he got home from work. This was the first time in a long while that he saw his roommate. She always woke up earlier before him to leave and got back later than he did when he fell asleep for the night.

She looks terrible.

"You hungry?"

"It's like 10 pm. Too late."

"(Y/n)-"

"-I'm gonna go shower and go to sleep. Gotta wake up early tomorrow." (Y/n) waddles off to the bathroom and Five sighs out. One thing he definitely noticed was that his roommate wasn't eating properly. He knew she wasn't having the time to cook, especially not now. He hoped she was eating at work at least. The brunette finished up his cooking, letting the food cool and he walked to the bedroom without waking up his roommate, seeing her already fast asleep and he decided to leave some lunch for her tomorrow.

The next morning arrived quickly and (Y/n) quickly grabbed her phone to turn her alarm off, sighing out and slowly sat up in bed to get her mind to wake up. She looks over at the window to see that the sun is just starting to rise, carefully getting out of bed without trying to make a sound and creep out to the bathroom to start getting ready. This would be her last morning shift before all her shifts became closing shifts after she passed her assessment exam today so she was looking forward to sleeping in from tomorrow onwards. She packed her bag and got on her uniform, refreshed but exhausted so she guzzled down coffee before making her lunch. When she opened the fridge, she was surprised to see her lunch box already inside, taking it out to see lunch packed for her.

"What...?" she waddles back to the bedroom to see that Five's side of the bed was empty, wondering if there was a mistake but sees a note inside her lunch box.

No, it's not a mistake. I packed this for you. You better eat it.

"Did Five...?" she flushes at his gesture and tries to think of ways to thank him when she runs out of the apartment to head to work.

Five looks over his shoulder when he hears the bedroom door unlock, chuckling in amusement to see a sleepy (y/n) walk out as she rubs her eyes. She stopped in front of the doorway, looking around as she ruffled her hair and squinted her eyes at how bright it was.

"Morning, or should I say good evening?" he muses and she looks at him sleepily with a grumpy look.

"Time..."

"It's a quarter past one." she gave him a confused look, almost annoyed and he laughs softly. "It's 1:15."

"Good enough..." she shrugs and walks back into the bathroom, shutting the door closed and the brunette shakes his head as he plates some food down he was cooking for the girl that soon comes back out all refreshed. He senses her peeking around his arm and looks down to see her, amused at how curious she is.

"I made some food for us. Go eat." she looks up at him in confusion.

"Why?"

"What do you mean why?" he asks, storing the food in containers to cool off before putting it away in the fridge.

"You gave me lunch yesterday and breakfast today? Why? Groceries are expensive. Save this for yourself."

"(y/n), don't worry about that. Just eat."

"Five-"

"-you're not eating properly and I have the time to cook. I can make stuff for us both. I'm not letting you faint at work."

"That's not fair to you, you're spending all this time and money-" Five simply grabs (y/n)'s shoulders and gently sits her down on the couch before passing her a plate. "Five-"

"-eat. I'm not taking no for an answer."

"But-"

"-do you want me to feed you-"

"-no! I'm good!" the brunette smirks from winning the fight as his roommate eats. "Holy shit this is good!" she gasps, happily having her late lunch. "But I need to do my fair share." the boy sighs in defeat with a smile and nods.

"Fine. We can share the grocery expenses. I'll cook, you clean. How about that?"

"That sounds fair!"

"Perfect, we need to grab a few things at the shops so finish up and we can go." the girl nods and relaxes, enjoying her late breakfast before getting up to clean everything.

(y/n) gets dressed for the shops in the bathroom and Five changes in the bedroom, the both of them bumping into each other by the sinks and they flush before jumping away. The brunette lets the girl go first and she shyly says thank you, the both of them walking out of the apartment together. She was walking towards the bus stop but stopped when she realised her roommate wasn't following her, going to the parking lot instead.

"We're not taking the buses?"

"I brought my car with me."

"No way!"

"Yes (y/n)," he chuckles, nodding to his car and signalling for his roommate to hurry on over. "Come on!" she jogs over to the passenger side and climbs in, him finding it amusing at how excited she was to sit on the opposite side of the car since her home drives on the left and Florida drives on the right.

"You're lucky, you get to sleep in more and drive to work instead."

"I can drop you to work-"

"-don't even fucking think about it! We're at opposite ends of the parks!" Five laughs as he backs out of the lot, driving off to the shops. "I just don't understand why you're helping me so much."

"Living alone meant I never had anyone, not look after per se, but have company. I did everything for myself only and it was... lonely. But now we're roommates, I just thought it would be a nice change of pace to do something for both of us, instead of just me. We're living together, we shouldn't be having a miserable stay here so if I can help, I will."

"But-"

"-(y/n), trust me, it's no trouble at all. I have enough finances for even four people. It's not a problem. It's... refreshing actually. Let's just have a fun program. We're only here for six months so let's make the most of it. What do you say?"

(y/n) was shocked entirely, wondering what the hell was going through her roommate's head to be this generous. "I..." she didn't like that he was going so much out of his way to help her and wanted it to be equal. "We equal it out." he looks at her with a raised brow as she relaxes in his car seat. "I don't want to be mooching off you. We halve things. Groceries, house cleaning, if I get in your car then the petrol, if you make food then I'll clean."

Five nods, knowing that that he couldn't change the girl's mind next to him and he admired that. "I accept the conditions then."

"So what, we need to write up a written contract now?" she jokes and he smiles, stopping at a red light and turning to her with a hand out for her.

"Let's shake on it." she grins at him and his breath hitches.

"You're on!" she takes his hand and shakes it, suddenly shoving his arms back to hold the wheel when the lights turn green. "Go!"

"Alright! Don't make me crash already!"

"You're the driver! You better not kill me!"

"No promises (y/n)."

"Five!"
