💫 Solo Hero 💫
Five sighed as he watched his family muck around in the private jet like wild apes while his father was in his private room not giving a shit. Five sipped on his whiskey, reading a newspaper he had picked up to get background information about the place he was going. The whole Hargreeves family was going to New York after being requested by the police department for the help of The Umbrella Academy.
"Arachnid once again saves the city by defusing a nuclear powerplant that would have destroyed local business near the area." Five reads out, flipping the front cover to see an image of this so-called heroin call Arachnid.
She's quite pretty.
Five looks over the image of the heroin clad in a latex jumpsuit, the front and the legs being black while the rest and her arms were white. She wore a hood, the inside being a red web design like the spiderman in the movies and the design was also around her visors that were lifted up at the corners like she was smiling underneath her white mask. Her feet were clad in black boots as well as her hands in black latex gloves as she held a web, swinging between the skyscrapers.
Five sets the newspaper down, his interest piqued at New York's personal superhero. "Who's this? She's a looker." Diego picks up the newspaper.
"Don't you have a girlfriend?" Five raises his brow at his brother who just rolled his eyes.
"Can't a guy appreciate a girls figure?"
"Considering men are pigs, of course not." Five mutters sarcastically as he downs the rest of his drink.
"Says the 58-year-old stuck in an 18-year-old body with no experience with girls." Diegos snorts, retorting back as he sets the newspaper down and Five huffs out, watching as the plane reaches their destination.
"Go sit down before I throw you out the window." Five snaps and Diego raises his arms, backing away. Everyone sits down and puts their masks on as the plane descends and lands on the runway.
"Now you all must be on your best behaviour. I do not want any of you-" Before Reginald could finish his question, Klaus screams and runs out of the jet full of excitement to be somewhere new.
"Where are all the hot men at!?" Klaus yells out and Ben sighs out at his brother's idiocy.
"Thought you and Dave were together."
"We are dear ol' Ben. But he thought it might be fun to expand if you know what I mean." Ben blushes as the rest of the siblings walk out with their father.
As soon as Five walks out, he notices the lines of security guards with what seemed like the governor of New York City.
"Mr. Hargreeves. It is with such great pleasure to have you here and help us." Five looks around in boredom until his eyes land on the roof of the jet behind him, seeing a figure clad in black and white sitting on top of the plane with one leg up and the other dangling over the machine. Five tilts his head in confusion, squinting his eyes to see who this figure was and the figure does the same, tilting their head.
It sat there, its head in its palm and waving at Five as Five hesitantly did the same. "Wait, is that Arachnid?" Five watches as the figure stands up, shooting her web and swinging away.
"So there has been a string of crimes across New York City. Stealing high tech gadgets, money from other crime lords and wiping them out as well as stealing new nuclear energy and matter." The head of police was explaining the situation as a new crime group called the Underground has surfaced, wreaking havoc.
"Well shit. This is like out of a movie!" Klaus whistled and Five glared from his spot at the table as his brother was drinking.
"Pay attention Klaus!" Luther hissed as he went back to strategising and pointing at the map where the Underground had hit. Five suddenly felt a shiver run down his spine, the feeling of someone watching him burning a hole in the back of his head.
Five looked around, eyes narrowed at the empty space of the meeting room. "Someone is here." Five hisses out.
"Who? I don't see anyone else here besides us." Viktor questions, looking around.
"Whoever the fuck is here, come out." Five growls out and he blinks in surprise as the familiar masked heroin appears out of thin air.
"Your brother is right. He has a keen 6th sense."
"Oh, Jesus fuck!" Allisons gasps out in surprise as Arachnid stood behind her and scaring her.
"What the fuck are you doing here Arachnid!? I outta get you arrested for trespassing!" The policeman growls out and Five watches as Arachnids visors narrow like she was glaring at the man.
"Please. You can't even do your job properly without me! Did you forget that the Harlem Street block was just robbed or do you not care about the actual civilians of New York City!?" Arachnid hisses out and Five snickers behind his hand as the man turns red before stomping off.
"Such an asshole huh?" Five mutters out and Arachnid turns her head to look at him.
"Oh my god, finally someone who agrees." Her visors squint up and Five knew she was smiling at him.
"Who are you?" Luther narrows his eyes at Arachnid as she blinks at him, playing with her hood that was up with a pure white cloak around her.
"The names Arachnid. New York City's protector. Nice to meet you Umbrella academy." She bows slightly, winking at Five as he grinned at her.
"And how do you know about us?" Five asks as Arachnid leans her hips against the table, her cloak pushed back to reveal her latex-clad figure.
"I know everything about the hero family. Who wouldn't! Your powers are very cool."
"Awe! We have a fan!" Klaus coos, hugging Arachnid and she chuckles, Five's heart jumping at the sound.
"So do you have camouflage powers?" Ben asks, instantly curious about how Arachnid had appeared and she nods.
"One of many, yes. Along with my spider-related powers like webs and heightened senses, I have camouflage abilities and electrical powers."
"Lemme see!" Klaus jumps up in excitement and Arachnid chuckles, creating a ball of web with a golden ball of electricity in the middle.
"Here, you can keep this. My webs are conductive so this little spark buddy of yours won't die out." She passes the gift to Klaus as he looks at it in awe.
"Wait, so you can charge things with this?" Ben asks and Arachnid nods.
"Your little own portable charger."
"Cool!" Ben exclaims and Five watches in amusement at how Arachnid interacted with his family like they were old friends. There was a sudden beeping and Arachnid pointed to her ear, her visors narrowed.
"Another robbery? Ok cool. I'll get there now. Thanks man."
"How can we get in contact with you?" Five asks and Arachnids smiles at him.
"You'll find me." she winks and runs off, leaving Five in awe.
Five sat on the rooftop of the hotel he was staying at, watching the sun start to rise over the city as golden light spilled through the skyscrapers. He had to admit, it was beautiful. To see so much life in a small area. He sighed out, swinging his legs back and forth when a white and black figure zoomed past him. He quickly gets up, seeing Arachnid swing away on her webs as she flew through the sky.
Five couldn't understand why, but he followed after her, spacial jumping on rooftops of buildings and on top of monuments. He landed on a random rooftop, cursing as he lost sight of Arachnid.
"Looking for me?" Five jumps in fright, turning around to see Arachnid upside down on her web from a pole. She jumps down, smoothing down her cloak as Five walked up to her.
"Yeah. Been a while since we last talked." Five noticed Arachnids visor raise up as she raised her brow.
"Yep. You know, busy saving the city and all." she shrugs. "So why were you looking for me exactly?"
"You know... about The Underground. Just wanted to see what our next plan of action would be." Five mutters out, wincing at the lie.
"Yeah, I can tell you're bullshitting that excuse out of your ass." Arachnid chuckles and Five blushes in embarrassment.
"Ok, you got me. I wanted to get to know you." Arachnid nods, taking her cloak and hood off to reveal she was wearing latex pants and a crop top. She sits down and peels her mask off, leaving her goggles on. "That's a different outfit." Five sits down next to her as she lets her pixie cut hair out and sighing.
"Yeah. Wearing latex head to toe is not always that comfortable surprisingly. What did you want to know about me?"
"I don't know really." Five shrugs. "I guess why you're doing all this by yourself maybe."
"I'm not too sure myself. I never had a tragic backstory like people would think I have so I don't necessarily have a reason to do all this. No one in my family died, it's just that I was born with these powers and I thought maybe I should put them to good use."
"Wait, when is your birthday?"
"The same as yours but a different year. I'm 20, I'm not the same age as your siblings."
"That's weird. You're the first to have powers besides us born in October." Five mutters out.
"So what about you? What brings you to living this superhero life?" Arachnid flicks Five's mask, a teasing smile on her face and Five blushes.
"Our dad made us into the Umbrella Academy the minute he adopted us. We were forced into this life."
"Fuck, that sucks. I've only been doing this for 6 years and you guys been doing this since diapers."
"Yeah..." Arachnid suddenly gets up, folding up her clothes and webbing them on the roof so they don't fly away.
"So basically you've never had any fun have you?" Five looks up at the heroin confusion.
"No, I mean... Maybe, I guess?" Arachnid takes hold of Five's hand and pulls him up to his feet.
"Wanna go for a swing?" Five immediately looks up at the heroin in anticipation, his eyes wide with sparkles.
"Can we!?"
"Sure! Hop on!" Five gets on Arachnids back and holds on for dear life. "Hold on tight. This is going to be a bumpy ride!" Five shrieks in surprise as Arachnid falls forward from the rooftop, diving straight down towards the streets below.
"Arachnid!" Five screams out in fright as the heroin quickly shoots her web, latching on a building and lurching forward, flying through the streets as people waved at her since she was so close to them. "Holy shit." Five whispers in awe as they swung smoothly the tough the buildings, the wind blowing through his hair with the sun glowing on them. They flew over parks, streets and buildings, zooming over a lake as Five glided his hand through the water. Arachnid perched on a skyscraper, letting Five to settle back on his feet as he looked at the city.
"Beautiful isn't it?" Arachnid sighs out as she jumps down next to Five.
"It really is."
"Just sucks to be alone in all this. It's not easy living a double life." Five looks over at the heroin, frowning at how sad she looked and slowly peeled his mask off.
"You're not alone in this." He takes hold of her hand and places his mask in Arachnids hand.
"Five, you-" She quickly covers her eyes. "I can't know who you are!"
"A little late for that don't you think?" Five chuckles, pulling Arachnids hand down and leaning closer towards her. His fingers crept closer to her goggles as she looked at him. "We can be here for each other. I trust you and you can trust me too." She blushes, closing her eyes as Five pulled her mask off.
"I trust you." She whispers out and opens her eyes to blow Five away with her beautiful eyes. Five finally got a full image of the beautiful and talented girl in front of him and he was in absolute awe.
"You're beautiful." Five sighs out, his heart jumping in his chest and Arachnid chuckles.
"You're not bad yourself Five." She winks at him, taking hold of her goggles and standing up.
"Where are we going?" Arachnid puts her goggles on and turns her back towards the edge of the rooftop.
"We aren't going anywhere Mr. Five. I have to get to uni and you have to go back to your hotel." She walks backwards and Five panics.
"Wait-"
"-until next time Five." Arachnid bends down to kiss his cheek before falling backwards. "WHOOO HOOO!" Five peers over the edge to see the heroin fly through the sky, swinging away.
Five watches with a small smile on his lips, not realising that he had fallen head over heels for the solo hero. "Until next time..."
So I got inspired by Jackcepticeye's videos of the new PS5 spider man game and I just had the urge to write this.
Been a huge spiderman geek since the OG Tobey Maguire spiderman films and I had fun writing this cute encounter between the heroes.
Plus, I'm still upset about Unus Annus being gone. I never realised how much I could miss a channel. It was so unexpected of me to cry over it. I just... I guess the channel really stuck with me.
Oh god, how am I going to handle BTS disbanding!?
