(y/n) - your name

"Excuse me what!?" You blink up in surprise as you looked up from your phone to stare at your friend that was grinning at you. The both of you were just chilling at your place, cozied up in blankets and sweats while watching an uninteresting movie that was playing on the tv.
"Let's go clubbing! Come on! I'm so sick and tired of staying indoors besides going to work." You raise a brow at her, a huge smile on your face.
"Finally! I can tick off clubbing from my bucket list!" Your friend gapes at you from the sudden excitement as you bolt up from the couch. "Move your ass along! Let's get dressed!" You speed off to your room as your friend heads home to get changed.
It's going to be freezing in the city.
You read the weather on your phone, opting for ripped light blue jeans, a white top and leather jacket and boots. You quickly packed some loose cash and your drivers license in a small purse, opening the door for your friend as she knocks on it. She quickly comes in after you text your friends about the last-minute clubbing to fix your makeup and hers as well. It doesn't take too long until everyone arrives and was ready, running out of your apartment after locking the doors to dive into one of the cars to drive to the city.
"How long is it going to take?" You ask, seeing that the time was 9 pm.
"About an hour."
"Nice. I can sleep." You grin, sitting in the back passenger seat and laying your head on the car door. "Wake me up when we get there."
"WAKE UP BITCH!"
"For fucks sake!" You hiss out, startled as you blink and see your friends recording you and laughing. "Ha ha. Very funny." You roll your eyes and yawn, looking out the window to see that you were driving on the bridge over the ocean.
The city lights immediately mesmerised you and you felt oddly at peace, the night surrounding you as the harbour lit up like fireworks. There were apartments in the tall buildings you drove by that were lit up, seeing quick glimpses of the different lives of different people on this planet. You suddenly see a flash of light and your turn your head to see a boy appearing and disappear in blue electricity mid-air just next to the car. Well, you thought you saw a boy.
"What?" You mumble out, winding the window down and sticking your head out to see nothing. Absolutely nothing besides the car on the bridge. "Ok?"
"Oi! Get back in here! Don't want your head getting decapitated!" You move your head back in the car, scratching it in confusion.
"(y/n), what happened?"
"I don't know man. I think I'm still dreaming or I'm tired and hallucinating." You shrug, pushing the confusing moment back in your head.
"Well forget about it cause here we are!" You look out and you could hear the loud music coming from the upstairs nightclub. Raving neon lights were filtering from the wall to ceiling windows like the Caramelldansen meme.
"Let's go let's go let's go!" You squeal, jumping out of the car as the others climb out. "Hurry up!" You run all the way to the entrance of the hidden alleyway while your friends raced to catch up.
"Evening ladies. Which function are you here for?"
"For the Shelter nightclub." Your friend answers since she looked up the place.
"That's great! We have a special event going on and is $60 cash for entree per head. Is that alright with you ladies?" The guy explains and you all nod. "Just follow me." he smiles and leads you down the brightly lit alleyway between cute coffee shops that were tucked away.
It was like walking through a portal of aesthetic filters. Your group turned right and continued down a wider alleyway that opened up with restaurants on either side, twinkling fairy lights strung up above you as the night sky hovered behind it like a blanket.
"Hi! You ladies here for the nightclub?" everyone nods and you all pay the fee and let the security check your driver's license before letting them put the entrance band on your wrist.
"Shit, It's so much louder here." You gasp out as you start climbing the stairs up, each flight leading you to booming music that shook the building. You reach the floor and walk in after the security at the front checks everyone for entrance bands. "Holy fucking shit..." You mumble out in surprise, your body shaking along with the beat of the music as soon as you stepped inside the nightclub.
Your eyes widen seeing the bright strobe lights moving across the dancefloor in front of you that was filled with people with the DJ stand sitting in front of them. Next to you were seats and tables, a second-floor raised higher for couches and lounge chairs. Beyond the seating area was a long stretch of a bar with servers mixing out various drinks and cocktails.
"Why haven't we done this before!?" Your friend yells out as you barely hear her.
"We have been missing out on life!" You yell back, grabbing your friend's hands and pulling them all in towards the middle of the dancefloor after grabbing some drinks.
You were tired before but being surrounded by people filled with life and adrenaline made you feel so alive and awake. You smiled happily, overwhelmed by the new experience and immediately loving it as you jumped and sang to the song the DJ was mixing. People in the large crowd danced with your group, enjoying themselves. The music was extremely loud, the song buzzing in your head and your stomach flipping in along with the rhythm of the beat. The moving laser strobe lights changed colour and ran across the crowd, changing styles along with the song. There were cool extras like confetti guns and smoke blasts going off every now.
Your friends were getting tired and went to go sit down but you were having too much fun, not feeling exhausted in the slightest since you had been downing glasses of alcohol like a champion. "What's a beautiful lady like yourself doing here all alone?" You turn around and see this random drunk guy smile down at you and you grimace. You turn around and try to ignore him but you felt him spill his drink on the floor next to you as he stumbled closer. "Hey, come on. Don't be rude. Just wanna get to know ya."
"I'm really sorry but I don't want to talk to you." You yell out to him over the music, walking away further into the crowd to try and lose this dude.
"Don't you walk away from me." The guy hisses out and harshly grans your hand.
"Let go of me!" You try to pry your hands out of this drunk guys grip but he tightens it.
"Just come with me-" the guys hold on you breaks and this dude was knocked out on the floor, another guy hovering above him with his fists and a scowl on his face. The people around you gasped out in surprise, moving back as the security guards came in asking what happened. No one could tell what happened and the guards dragged the unconscious guy away.
You looked up at the guy as he turns around and your eyes widen. "Are you ok!?" He yells out as he got closer and you nod, suddenly feeling speechless at how handsome he was. His hair was a bit unruly, swept to the side as he wore a dress shirt tucked in some jeans. But what caught you were the vibrant green eyes that shone almost as bright as the lights.
Something in the air changed as he smiled at you softly, the music switching to something with lyrics that you knew all too well.
Shelter by Porter Robinson, how ironic.
The lights strobed extremely fast, almost like a speedrunner flash turning white and black. The guy walked towards you, your head spinning and your heart thumping hard against your chest as he leaned down and held your face gently. He held wrapped an arm around your waist and your body pooled with a sudden heat despite the cool breeze wafting in from the open glass ceiling.
You couldn't understand why but you let this stranger pull you closer to his chest, mesmerised by his eyes that shone through the black and white flashing. Your eyes fluttered closed as the guy leaned down to kiss you, holding your face in his other hand gently. Your body burned and thrummed to the beat of the music as you kissed this stranger back, wrapping your arms around his neck. You leaned up further and kissed him deeply, letting the music and lights wash over the both of you.
"The names Five." Five leans back and leans his forehead on yours, panting gently as you shuddered against his thumb that brushed against your cheek.
"(y/n)." You mumble out, grabbing the back of Five's neck and pulling him close to kiss him again.
