The wind howled as the night drawled on, tiny birds outside squeaking and chirping like it was nobody's business. The lamp flickered and soft sounds of people going to work started rising as Five groans softly, squeezing your body closer to his chest. You both were asleep, Five hugging you from behind with his legs swung over your waist like a koala as you hugged your pillow. Well, he was asleep. You flinched in your sleep, brows furrowed as you gripped your pillow tighter.

Tears started falling down your cheeks as you burrowed your face into your pillow, muffling out the whimpers as you saw your mother fall sick and die in front of you. You snapped your eyes open, body shaking lightly as you bit down on your lips to try and not make any sounds.

Mum...

You quickly sit up and turn to your right on the bed, expecting to see your mother's bed next to yours but all you saw was a wall. You froze as your eyes watered again, wishing to see your mother sleeping peacefully in the same room as yours, wishing to see that she was ok and breathing, wishing to hear the rustling of the bed sheets every time she moved or her alarm that would go off every morning at 5 for when she had to get ready to go to work.

But you couldn't anymore.

You burst into tears, wanting to scream out as your chest hurt and you lie back down to try and go back to sleep. You tried to calm your shaky breathing, flinching lightly when you felt Five nestle up closer from behind you. You closed your eyes but all you could see was your mother dying and you leaving your little sister behind, calling her to say goodbye as she screamed and cried out for you.

I can't sleep anymore.

You limply stayed on your side, tears soaking your pillow as you just stared at the wall. You felt sick and claustrophobic and just wanted an out. You carefully slipped Five's arm from your waist and got out of bed, dropping his arm around your pillow. More tears streamed down your face when you didn't see your sister sleeping on the same bed as you, your boyfriend taking her place instead.

You slipped out of the bedroom quietly knowing Five needed his sleep and headed towards a bathroom. You walked down the hallways like a weeping ghost, crying while trying to not make a sound as you reached the bathroom and locked yourself inside. You turned on the lights and slumped down against the door, crying out loud.

You missed your family. You missed them so much. You rarely had dreams of people close to you dying but it hurt having those dreams. You haven't cried like this in ages and it hurt that your family, in a sense, was dead to you.

You would never see them again. You would never be able to spend time with them again, never tell them you loved them. Never even got to say goodbye. You would never be able to go to your mothers funeral or see your sister get married. They were dead to you in this world since you shifted and you cried loudly at the thought. You hated it.

I'm never going to see them again...

Five whines out softly as his body started getting cold, his main source of warmth gone and he slowly opens his eyes to see the bed empty. "(Y/n)?" He sits up in shock, looking around his empty bedroom for you and quickly teleports out of his bedroom to look for you.

He knew you would be in one of the bathrooms. It was the only place you would go to so late at night so you wouldn't bother anyone but he hated how he didn't know what you were doing inside and it worries him constantly. He didn't care if you woke him up in the middle of the night as long as you were ok.

Five walked up to one of the bathrooms and heard sniffles from inside and his heart broke hearing you cry. "(Y/n), it's me." Five knocked on the door gently, making sure to keep his voice down and he frowns when the sniffling noises stop. "Please open the door love." Five hated how you tried to pass off as if you weren't inside the bathroom so you would be in pain by yourself. "Please. I'm begging you..." Five leaned his head on the door, waiting for you to open it but you don't. "I'm coming in ok." Five mutters out and teleports inside to see you washing your face.

"Sorry, did I wake you up?" You smiled at your boyfriend in the mirror weakly.

"(Y/n)..."

"Go back to sleep. I'll be back soon ok. I'm fine." Five narrowed his eyes at you as you lied to him, seeing your red eyes.

"(Y/n), don't lie to me please." Five looked at your eyes through the mirror as you gripped the sink, tears falling down your cheeks again as your mask breaks simply at your boyfriend's soft words. He quickly bundled up your crying form in his arms, teleporting you back to his bed. "What happened?" Five held you tightly to his chest as you cried in his lap, gripping his shirt tightly.

"I had a n-nightmare." Five rocks you gently, threading his fingers through your hair. "I miss my mum Five." Five freezes at your comment, your body shaking in his arms. "I miss my s-sister. I'll never be able to see them again." You burst into tears and Five held you tightly.

"I'm sorry (y/n)." Five didn't know what to say as you cried angrily, your fists hitting his back. The pain on his back couldn't compare to how much his heart hurt for you. He knew family was important to you especially and to see how much in pain you were from being ripped away from yours made his eyes glass over with tears.

"This is so stupid. I have such stupid nightmares about shit like this but it hurts... I hate how it hurts." You sniffle and lean back, grabbing a tissue to clear your congested nose.

Five wiped your tears away and kissed your forehead. "It's not stupid. You crying or being in pain is not stupid." The sun starts to rise in Fives window and he sighs out knowing you would be exhausted. "Let's just lie down ok." You nod and let Five pull you down to lay on his chest. He plays with your hair as you hugged his waist, his other arm wrapped tightly around your hips to make you feel safe.

"I'm sorry for waking you..." you mumble out into Five shirt and he looks down at you as you stared at the wall.

"You have nothing to be sorry for." You nod and bury your face into Five shirt. "Do you always do this?" Five felt you freeze up in his arms and hears you sigh, knowing you knew what he meant.

"I don't like burdening people..." Five frowns and turns around so you both were facing each other.

"You will never be a burden to me you hear me. I don't want you hiding in a bathroom by yourself while you cry. I don't care if you wake me up." Five held your face gently in his hands and you looked up at him with sad eyes. "If you have a nightmare or feel like shit, come to me please. I'm begging you, don't hide away in your pain by yourself." Five mumbles out, feeling himself tear up again as he brushed your cheeks gently with his thumbs. "Please come to me ok."

"Ok." You nod and let Five pull you close to his chest, nestling your head into his neck as he wrapped his arms around you. He held you protectively with his other hand running through your hair as the sun lights up his room. Five held you in his arms in his bedroom for the rest of the day as you both laid awake in each others calming presence.
