💫 If I Had A Heart (Part 11) 💫
It was a cold morning, a biting chill that froze deep in your bones as the soldiers layered up before their battle against Lothbrok. They all chanted lowly together, banging their axes against the shields or sharpening their swords against the grinder.
(y/n) could hear the men chanting from outside the house but it was all just a blur as she snuck into the treasury room, standing before her wings to feel that familiar buzzing of power thrumming through her. Her eyes glowed as her siren hummed her song of heritage, promising to avenge or legacy. (y/n) sneered lowly, her wings calling for her in urgency as she took a step forward to free them. There was a blinding light and the sound of an angry screech as her wings flashed red before slamming against her back, a burst of power filling (y/n). Her eyes glowed red from rage, her teeth sharpening and claws stretching over her palms.
It was a horrid sight as (y/n) ripped apart the board with her claws, snaked tongue hissing over her teeth before she put her steel mask back on. Her cloak hid her wings and her claws, and she walked back out to get on her horse.
"(y/n)?" she looked over to see who had called her, seeing Five smile at her from his horse and she felt her humanity come back. Five leaned down and kissed the back of (y/n)'s hand. "Are you ready?" (y/n) nods, taking in a deep breath.
"May the gods show us the way to victory!" the king exclaims with his sword in the air and the soldiers all yell out before riding off.
Time to end all this.
(y/n) yelled out as she sped around her enemies, slicing them down and ripping them apart. She hissed as she chopped off a head, the body dropping to the floor before quickly turning around and deflecting an attack. She was too fast for anyone to see, a blur of steel and claws. Blood and rain drowned the soldiers, a cacophony of screams and weapons clashing. (y/n) pants out as she fights against another soldier, his axe splitting her mask in two and she stumbles back. Blood trickled down from her head, her single revealed eye burning red as the other hid behind half her mask.
"Witch-!" the man gurgles out blood, hands grasping his throat before (y/n) kicks him over a cliff. She quickly whips around, her claws grabbing hold of a sword as a man forces her on her back from the impact.
"(y/n)!" Five yells out, plunging the sword into the enemy that was about to hurt his love. He helps her up, quickly catching a glimpse of her vengeful eyes as she rips off her steel mask. "Your ears!" He was worried about (y/n) getting hurt but she shook her head.
"Enough hiding." The couple fought off the enemies back to back, their marked hands of their bond holding onto each other until they were pulled away. Five lost his love in the crowd as she snuck off to follow the king into the forest. He heaved and coughed up blood in a sickly manner, clutching his chest and (y/n) grinned. "Finally." She hissed and Reginald turned around with wide eyes, quickly grabbing his sword.
"I knew it was you, you vile creature." Reginald sneered as (y/n) laughed, her sharp canines in full view with her eyes red and glowing.
"You are an old fool. Did you really think I would not hunt you down for everything you have done to me?" (y/n) hissed her tongue. "Did you really think you could take everything from me, kill everyone I love and think you could be king forever!?" (y/n) growled and the king lunged at her. They fought but it was clear that the king was as weak as a babe against a full-powered siren.
"You will never be accepted by my son! You have enchanted him! Do you really think he truly loves you?" Reginald smirked, spitting out the blood after (y/n) had ripped his sword from his hands and punched him in the face. "He knew what you were the moment I sent him to find you as a young child." memories flashed across (y/n)'s eyes, remembering the young boy she befriended.
That was Five?
(y/n) frowned, feeling betrayed by her love as he was the one to bring his father to where she lived. She trusted him, showed him her village, played with him as any child would and he took her life from her!
"He was using you from the beginning!"
"And you don't think I haven't been doing the same?" darkness swept over (y/n)'s face, a cold-hearted creature as she ripped her cloak from her back. "You don't think I haven't been using your son either?" Reginald paled as (y/n) crept closer to him.
"You never loved him..." (y/n) let Reginald believe her lies.
"I used him to poison you. An easy prey for me to finish off!" (y/n) screeched out as she plunged her sword into Reginald, his body falling to the floor. He yelled out in pain, (y/n) overlooking his body. "I will take everything from you, take everything you have built from your blood and sweat and destroy it from the inside. And what better way than to humiliate a Midgardian fool like you than to be Queen of your land."
"You will never be Queen!" (y/n) cackled as she twisted her sword further into Reginald's chest.
"Did you not hear of our engagement last night? It is too late. I will scrub your name from the history books and have you named as the killer of creatures. Your bloodline will end and mine will prosper again."
"You will never take my land..." Reginald coughs out as (y/n) grinned. Her wings grew large behind her, eyes flashing gold as she hummed sweetly.
"Don't be so sure my prey." she sang into Reginald's ear, pulling a document from her pack along with a scribe. "Be a dear for me and sign all your properties, assets, land and your people to me." (y/n) purred, her skin glowing with translucent scales. Reginald's eyes fogged as he painfully reached up, signing his life away with his blood before the document was snatched away.
(y/n) stepped back as her powers over the King faded away, turning back to her human form as he looked at her in fear. He begged for the gods that this wouldn't be the end, that he would not die like this. (y/n) just watched her prey writhe like the worthless worm he was, begging her to give him his sword so he may go to Valhalla. He cannot die without his weapon.
"My sword-" (y/n) kicks it away, pressing her foot down on the king's throat.
"I will not let you go to Valhalla. You belong in Hel." (y/n) raised her foot and stomped down on his throat, a satisfying crack ringing through the silent air. It was finally quiet, the rain falling down over the land to wash away the sea of red. (y/n) ripped her sword out from the man she spent her entire life hunting, a feeling of calm rippling through her as her sword was clean of his blood. (y/n) pocketed the document in Reginald's pack, keeping his belongings on her as she grabbed his foot and dragged him to the edge of the cliff. "Long live the Queen." (y/n) whispers as she throws the body over.
The atmosphere in the village was filled with morose and gloomy mood despite the victory they had earned from beating Ragnar Lothbrok. The warriors came back to their families and loved ones, the Hargreeves family being more unlucky when they learned that the king and their shieldmaiden hadn't returned. Five paced furious, running his fingers through his hair in panic as his family tried to calm him down. They thought that his love was gone but he knew she was still alive. He could feel her but could not explain that to his family.
"Dear, please sit down. I need to treat your wounds." Grace whispers, pulling back her son to heal him.
"I can't! I need to find her-" there was absolute silence when the doors opened, Five quickly stood up before running to the figure and hugging her. (y/n) sighed in relief from the warmth of her love, letting him hold her as she shivered from the pouring rain. She hid her wings beneath her cloak, Five picking (y/n) up to set her by the fire. "You are alive, gods you are ok!" Five exclaimed in happiness, kissing her wrist.
"What happened?" Grace asked, hoping to see her husband also walk through but (y/n) faked her sullen look with fake tears. She passed Reginald's bag to the Queen as she teared up knowing her husband was gone. "Is he..."
"I found his bag when I was trying to escape the rain. I could not find his body..." (y/n) lies, Five too focused on warming her up to pick up on the lie. Grace opens the bag, taking out the document and (y/n) watches with a blank look as the Queen reads over it.
She stumbles back on her throne. "Mother, what is it?" Five takes the document, his brows narrowing. "Did you know this was in his bag?"
"No, what is it?" (y/n) asks and Five clenches his jaw.
"The King, Reginald Hargreeves, in his last moments of death has passed over everything that belongs to him to Shieldmaiden (y/n)." Five announced, a foul taste on his tongue as his people gasped.
"That is a lie!"
"That cannot be true!"
"This document is true. He has signed it with his blood." Five mumbles out, looking at the girl he loved. "She is the crowned Queen and your next ruler." There was an angry uproar but it suddenly quietens down from the sweet humming that filtered through their ears. The people became calm once more, the humming disappearing and they accepted (y/n) as their Queen. Five fists his hands at his love controlling his people, watching as she stood up to walk away. He quickly follows her, needing to know the truth.
"I know you are angry." (y/n) says with a deadly calm, void of any emotions toward the man she loves with her whole heart even though he betrayed her.
"I want answers." (y/n) turns around to face Five, removing her cloak as her wings span from her back. Five frowned as he watched his love try to intimidate him by turning into the dangerous creature she was, her eyes red with claws and canines snarled at him.
"I took back what was rightfully mine!" (y/n) hissed, lips quivering as she tried to hold back her tears. "Took back what was taken from me by the very man I love who betrayed me!" She cried out.
"I never betrayed you!" Five exclaims, wanting to hold his love and wipe her tears away.
"You led your father to my village Five! You were that boy I regret befriending! You took my family from me!"
"I... I did...?" Five suddenly remembers a little girl with pointed ears and huge wings, remembering her taking him flying around the forest.
"You didn't know..." (y/n) realised that the king had fooled her again, trying to break her and her love apart. "Even in death he is a nuisance." she hissed.
Five frowned at her words, a single question running through his head. "Why are you here (y/n)?" She looks at him, turning back to the beautiful girl Five fell in love with.
"Don't make me answer that-"
"-tell me! What was your mission!?" Five yelled out, not wanting his thoughts to be true but he faltered as (y/n) frowned at him. "You came to kill my father..."
"After what he did to me, that was the least he deserved." (y/n) hissed out.
"You killed him!" (y/n)'s silence confirmed Five's question and he grew angry. "How could you-" he gasps as his love kisses him, hovering above him from the floor as she kisses him deeply. Five moaned against her sweet taste, holding her arms that held his cheeks.
"I am in love with you Five, that will always be an eternal constant and I know you still love me too." Five sighs as he leaned back, looking up at his love. He wondered if he was in his right state of mind, hoping (y/n) wasn't manipulating him but she wasn't. "Your father killed my family but I will never lay a hand on you, never lay a hand on your family like he did." Five frowned at her words. (y/n) purred silently, kissing Five softly. "And I know you will be a better King than he was." Five tangles his fingers in his love's hair.
"You want me to be your King?" he murmurs against her lips, biting down gently.
"Yes. Be my King and I will be your Queen. We are eternally bonded now so what's mine is yours, and what's yours is mine, my love."
