The night echoed around the globe of the earth, absolute silence in the as the people around the table hushed. Multitudes of documents of various importance to each person laid on the table, 6 pair of eyes focused on the single one at the head of the table.
"Five, this is our last mission. Don't fuck it up." The so-called leader glares at the physically younger brother who looked absolutely bored.
"Since when have I fucked things up? All our plans that have gone through shit is because of this high dumbass." Five hisses out, pointing directly at the lanky and mumbling man as he down another bottle of vodka.
"Honey, it's about the adrenaline of being high and drunk during missions. They feel soooo good." Klaus slurs out, winking at everyone.
"Oh shut up." Diego huffs out, itching to kick some ass.
"Ironic coming from the one that doesn't shut up about being the better leader." Alison retorts, snickering while Viktor just sat with his head in his hands.
"Well, at least I do shit, unlike Viktor." The called out boy glares at Diego, his eyes glowing white as Diego groans in pain from the frequency.
"Don't start a fight you can't win jackass." Viktor mumbles out and Five just groans.
"Enough! Let's just get on with the plan already. I need coffee and not this sad sack of an excuse of a group."
"Finally." Ben rolls his eyes, getting up to explain their final but most rewarding mission.
The air was warm and oddly bright, a swift clean breeze wafting over the city as you strolled down the pathway to buy some flowers. You were sick and tired of being at home so you just needed some fresh air. You walked through the markets, smiling at the curious little trinkets winking at you.
"I wonder which ones I should get-" you grunt in pain, colliding into something hard and you stumble back. "Shit, I'm so sorry!" I look up, continuously apologising when you freeze, seeing a rather handsome guy dusting off his jeans.
"It's no problem-" the guy looks up and blinks, a soft shade of pink on his cheeks. "I'm the one that's sorry. I wasn't looking where I was going."
"Bull I'm the blind one here. Let me treat you to some coffee or tea for bumping into you please." You beg, feeling guilty and the guy chuckles softly.
"You're not going to drop it are you?" You shake your head no and he sighs out, giving you a smile that makes your heart jump in your chest. "Coffee would be lovely."
"Great! There's this nice quaint cafe that I recently found out about." You nod in a direction and the boy quickly follows with you.
"Is it the one that has this library aesthetic to it?"
"That's the one!" You quickly point to the guy, grinning. "I just realised I don't know your name. I'm (y/n)." You beam, swooning at the dimples that magically appeared on the boy's cheeks as he shook your hand you had stretched out for him to take.
"I'm Five. It's nice to meet you (y/n)."
The walls used to creak and echo as footsteps pressed down on the cold floorboards. The walls seemed to swallow in the darkness easily and trap anything inside. The loneliness used to creep in and pierce its nails into your heart. The sadness and heartache suffocating your head in its deathly hug. Regret followed you around like a shadow as you stayed in the giant mansion you used to call home, like a forgotten doll in its playhouse tucked away in the attic.
This is-was your home, filled with many warm memories of your family that you would never part with. The (l/n) bloodline had lived in this mansion for generations and now, it was just you.
You looked around the cold house, noticing the bits of missed ash and black burns during the renovations you had to manage at such a young age. The house used to be bitter and cold while you were alone but rays of warmth managed to break through the darkness as a single boy named Five allowed you to feel again.
"(Y/n)?" You heard him call out for you, knocking on the door and the house instantly lit up like a summers day as you opened the door. Five beamed at you and you turned around, seeing the house filled with love like it used to when you were just a child with your family.
"Took you long enough!" You ushered Five in and his eyes widen at the size of the mansion. "Just as I promised at Griddy's, a tour of my house." You grinned and Five smiles at you, passing a cup of something hot in your hands.
He whistles lowly at the size of the place. "Holy shit-my voice echoes?" you chuckled, watching Five turn around in the foyer. "Why were you so embarrassed in showing me your place? This is amazing."
"Uh, there's nothing much in here to show. It's just empty really." You shrug, walking over to a door and revealing a room with a large living room with a fireplace and multiple pieces of furniture. A tv sat above the fireplace, a huge loveseat sofa just in front of filled with blankets and pillows.
"Looks like someone was sleeping here." Five chuckles, settling down on the couch as you quickly shuffled things around to make it look presentable. "Is it just you? Where is your family?" Five notices you freeze, your hand hovering over a photo frame you had just lowered face down on the table.
"You know, gone. They went somewhere today." Five slowly nods. "I'll be back with some snacks." Before Five could stop you, you had already run off to the kitchen. Five settled back on the couch, the eery silence looming over him. His curiosity soon got the better of him and he reached over to lift the photo frame.
There stood 4 figures. A mother, father and two sisters. Five could easily recognise which was you, a shy smile on your face as your mother assumingly held your little sister in her arms. Your father was terrifying, a face devoid of a smile whereas your mother held both her daughters with love.
Five jumped and quickly shoved the photo frame face down when he heard something drop and you cursing. Five sighs out and looks around, his attention focusing on a set of stairs. Five looks around and slowly gets up, walking towards them. His brows furrow as every step he took, the walls and the floor got darker and ashier. Five walked down the hallway, watching how the dark ash crept along the walls like live, growing veins.
"What?" He stopped in front of a brand new door, the walls and floor completely charred black. "What happened here?"
"A fire." Five jumped back in surprise, turning around as you faced him directly with a deadly blank face. "You are not supposed to be up here." You hissed out and Five could feel fear run down his spine from the cold look you inherited from your father.
"(Y/n)... what is this?" Five was already far too gone and knew too much.
You gripped the cup of coffee in your hands tightly, threatening to shatter the porcelain kitchenware. "That was my parent's room."
Was?
Five blinked as you placed the cup in his hands harshly, standing next to him to face the door. "I've been alone for more than a decade... Alone in this house."
"But you said-"
"-they're dead." You cut Five off and he frowns, a pit in his stomach growing at how numb and accustomed you were to that sentence. "Burned alive." Five shudders, the wind blowing through the house like faint screams as he follows you back down the stairs.
"I'm so sorry (y/n)-"
"-(l/n). I'm from the (l/n) family." Five understood what you meant by that as a family of that kind of lineage would be targeted. "Everyone thinks I died with my family. I got unlucky."
"(l/n) family?" Five acted and watched as you turned around to face him with a look of surprise. "Who are they?"
"You don't know who they are?" Five slowly shakes his head as you both sat down on the couch. "Wow. That's a first."
"(y/n)... What happened...?" Five probes as you sigh out.
"It was unoriginal, to say the least. Blocked off any airway possible and filled my parent's room with gas before lighting a spark in there to start a fire that burned down the house." Five winces at the blunt words, his chest tightening at how dull you were. "I was always a light sleeper so I heard them before I smelt the gas. I couldn't save them. I was too young. I just hid in the garden shed outside." You slowly picked up the photo frame, holding it gently in your hands.
Five watched as you didn't shed a single tear but he could see the pain in your eyes, something slowly eating away inside him. "What about your sister?"
"She was in my parent's room as well... I didn't hear their screams, just the explosions... Maybe their deaths were quick. I hope it was."
"I'm really sorry (y/n)."
"There's nothing you can do Five." You beamed a smile at him and Five frowned at how you had perfected a fake emotion. "I've gotten used to being alone and just surviving. I had to grow up much quicker, taking back my fathers company and trying to save this house. Spent the years just, wasting away and not living."
Something broke in Five as you simply shrugged like this was nothing. "You're not alone anymore..." Five couldn't understand why he said that but he felt a twinge of empathy for the girl next to him. "You have me now."
"Really?" Five sucks in a breathe as you slowly teared up.
"Of course. We're friends now." He mumbles softly, heart sighing from the truth of the words.
"You're my friend? You really want to be my friend?"
"I would love to be your friend."
"I've never had a friend before!" You jumped around in excitement and Five chuckles at how cute you were from the mere mention of being friends. "Not a real one anyway. All my previous friends only wanted my money. So thank you Five." Five gasps as you launched into his arms, hugging him tightly. He hesitates, hugging you gently with his arms around you as guilt shot through him.
