"Just keep running! We can make it!" Five grunts out, holding the warm hand in his tightly as he dragged the person behind him as fast as he could to safety. There was a barrage of bullets flying past them, Five's heart thumping hard against his chest as he turned around to shoot the enemies that were chasing after them.

"Five, I'm scared!" Five turned around, fear gripping his heart as he looked at the worry in his love's eyes that were still beautiful to him despite their wrinkled old age.

"I'll protect you (y/n)! You know I will!" Five grunts out in pain as a bullet flies through his shoulder, (y/n) screaming in shock for him as he pulls her behind him to shoot the Commission drones. "Go inside the building!"

"No!" Five hisses as he pulls them both behind a pillar, holding (y/n)'s head against his chest and holding her tightly. Five curls around (y/n) to protect her with his body as she held his shirt in a panic.

"(y/n)-"

"-I am not leaving you!" (y/n) hissed out as she grabbed Fives guns and quickly turned around to shoot down multiple enemies. "I will not lose you Five!" Five watched in awe of the skill and power of the Number One Agent next to him, protecting him despite going against her home she was supposed to take over.

All to protect him.

All to live a life with him.

"You promised we would escape together! You promised we would live the rest of our days happily together! You better keep that promise!" (y/n) snarls at Five but Five could see the love in her eyes and the hope. He quickly grabs hold of her hand and dives into the abandoned building.

"I would never break that promise (y/n)." Five hastily kisses her, holding her face in his hands as he poured his love for her. "I'm taking us home." Five mumbles against her lips as she looked at him with teary eyes. She nods and watches as Five concentrates on his power, an electric blue fizzing around his hands until harsh winds suddenly picked up inside the building. They peered over where they were hiding to see a dark portal open up.

"You did it!" (y/n) shrieks in happiness, pouncing on Five and hugging him tightly as he chuckles softly.

"Of course I did. I'm your husband after all." Five looked around to see that the enemy hadn't arrived yet and ushered (y/n) to follow him. They ran for the portal holding hands, unknowing of another sniper hiding in the building.

"-Five!" before Five could comprehend what was going on he was pushed to the ground, hearing a gunshot ring through the air.

"(y/n)?" Five stuttered out, feeling his blazer soak a warm red as he looked down at the body that had protected him. "N-no. No! NO!" He screams out, teleporting to the sniper and snapping his neck before coming back to his love that bled out.

"F-Five..." Five cried as his love struggled to breathe, the wound in her chest bleeding heavily through her clothes.

"Shhh. Don't say a-anything. You'll m-make it!" Five picked her up in his arms, running towards the portal until he screams out in pain. Five stumbles to the floor as a bullet goes through his leg, gritting his teeth as he held (y/n) tightly in his arms.

"F-Five... L-leave me..."

"I am not doing such a thing." Five hisses out, stumbling on his feet until another bullet goes through his other leg. "Fuck!" Five teleports but ends up a few centimetres away from the portal before he lost all of his powers.

"Love-" Five cuts (y/n) off, taking out his gun and shooting down whoever was in the building but more of them filtered in, surrounding them. For the first time ever, Five felt genuine fear as he held his wife in his arms. "Five... Please..." Five cried softly, the gun in his hand shaking along with the limb as he stared at her with sorrow. (Y/n) gently held Fives arm that held the gun and lowered it before pressing her palm to his cheek.

"No, I can't lose you! Please! We are so close-" Five cries out as another bullet goes through his other arm, dropping (y/n) to the floor. "-(y/n)!" Five wailed out as she struggled to push him to the portal.

"Five... you need t-to go... I won't make it..."

"Stop it! Don't say that!" Five screams out, holding (y/n)'s body tightly to his. "I can't leave you! I promised you! I promised to live the rest of our lives together-"

"-I know!" Five whimpered as his love screamed at him, crying out. "But I need you to live! Stop the apocalypse!"

"(y/n)-"

"-I love you Five Hargreeves, my husband, my clarity and my remedy. You are what gave me life, gave me purpose. I love you with my whole being. My soul and heart belongs to you..." Five's heart shattered as (y/n) weakly took off her wedding ring and passed it to him, curling his fingers around the physical evidence of their love for each other.

"I-I love you too (y/-" Five grunts in surprise as his love shoved him through the portal, him reaching an arm out for her as he fell through. The last thing he saw was his wife mouthing 'I'll come back to you' to him before she closed her eyes for the final time.

Five gasps as he shot up straight in his bed, whimpering and shaking heavily as he cried loudly. He clutched the rings on the necklace around his neck, screaming out. He didn't realise Klaus barging through the bedroom door and holding him tightly in his arms.

"I'm here Five. Your older brother is here." Five wailed out his loves name as the rest of his siblings piled in to hug him. They all knew the pain their physically younger brother went through, but there was nothing they could do to help.

It has been like this for the Hargreeves family ever since they came back from the 1960's. Five would always have painful nightmares plague his empty nights since he had nothing else to do but live the rest of his life alone. He hated sleeping and would spend his nights strolling the streets, drunk on alcohol or coffee.

He just didn't want to sleep.

Tonight was one of those nights where he was shit face drunk, unable to properly walk and or even see as he stumbled down the seemingly empty road. "(y-y/n)..." Five gurgled as he downed another bottle, dropping it carelessly as he just struggles to walk. He was absolutely blindsided, unable to comprehend that the blinding white lights coming for him was car lights and not the gates of heaven he wished they were.

"Get off the road!" someone from the side screamed out, Five grunting in pain as he was shoved to the side on the pathway with a body on top of him. "Hey, stay awake goddamn it!" The voice sounded familiar, Fives heart aching painfully at the sound as he let the darkness take over him unwillingly.

"Jesus fuck." Five groaned in pain, his whole body feeling heavy like he was the living dead. His head pounded painfully in his ears, blood almost deafening him as his sight was all fuzzy. Five's sight became clear enough to see a bottle of alcohol resting next to him and went to grab it when another hand grabbed his wrist.

"The fuck is wrong with you!? Do you want to die from alcohol poisoning!?"

"Yes." Five ripped his hand away from this random person, tilting his head to guzzle the poison when the bottle was snatched from his grip.

"Well, I'm not letting you!" Five froze as he reached out to grab the bottle again, his heart aching painfully in his chest as he recognised the sweet voice. The pain bloomed through his body, tears dripping down his cheeks as he looked up slowly.

"(y/n)...?" Five whispered to himself as the 18-year old woman before him grumbled in annoyance before bringing back a tray of food. Five whimpered, holding his hand up to hold her cheek as she froze, eyes wide at his movement. "You're alive..." Five cried softly, leaning his head down against her chest to hear her heartbeat. "Oh god, you're alive!" Five broke down in his love's arms, holding her body tightly to him to just feel her warmth.

"I don't know who you are but yes. I'm alive. Please don't c-cry." Five heard (y/n) whimper and looked up to see her trying not to cry. "I don't know what you've been through but please, please don't die." It hurt Five more that he was causing her pain as she held him tightly. Five leaned back slowly as if any sudden movements would make the girl before him disappear again.

"You don't know me." Five mumbled with wide eyes as she sat down in front of him, his hands holding her shirt by her shoulders tightly in his fists. "I don't care. I'm so happy you're alive." Five smiled brightly, tears streaming down his cheeks as he kissed the rings on his necklace.

"Shhh, it's ok." Five let his body slump against (y/n)'s arms as she pulled him to her chest to hug him again tightly, his heart finally coming to rest in peace and not pain anymore. "I'm right here. I won't leave."

It had been a few months and despite the weird but heartwrenching first encounter, you had fallen in love with the boy you rescued named Five. During the time you nursed Five back to health, he had explained to you his life and the rings on his necklace. Despite the absurd story, you couldn't help but believe him. Why would someone in so much pain make up a story like that?

Five never left your side, living with you in your apartment even after you tried and failed to convince him to go back to his family. You thought it was weird at first but you couldn't leave him knowing about the nightmares that plagued his body every night. You didn't want him resorting to alcohol again when you he wasn't under your care. You didn't want him to numb himself like that again.

Five grew so much happier the more he lived with you but there were nights where you had found him awake in the living room in tears. He would sit there on the couch, playing with the rings on his necklace and murmuring how he didn't want to lose you again. You would promise to him over and over that you won't leave him and that would always cause Five to hold you tightly in his arms.

That was the last time you saw him the night before where you walked in on him crying on the couch. The last time where he hugged you so tight as if his life depended on it. The last time to see him look at you with so much love and pain before he disappeared, leaving just a note that you might perish again if he stayed with you any longer. He had believed it was his fault that he couldn't save you before and he never wanted you to see you die again. He was the cause and disappeared to keep you alive.

"What utter bullshit..." You murmured as you read the old and withered note once again. The paper was frail in your hands from the years you have kept it safe in your wallet, the only evidence of the boy your heart still belonged to from all these years. You sighed out, folding it gently back in your wallet as you walked down the pathway from your job.

The sky was deceivingly beautiful as you crossed the road, unaware of the stolen truck that was barreling towards you. "Get out of the way!" You shrieked in surprise as you tumbled, landing on top of a groaning body.

"Ugh my head." you groaned in pain and you heard a gasp, looking down to see the same pain-filled emerald eyes look back up at you. "Five?" You murmured and you saw his lips quiver before pushing you off and bolting. "Wait!" You ran after him, struggling to keep up but you stop in front of a large mansion that Five had teleported into. "Five!" You slammed against the door, knocking on it and yelling out for Five to come back out and face you as tears fell down your face. "Please." You leaned your head against the door before reluctantly walking off.

On the other side of the door, Five cried in Klaus' arms as he begged to god to see you again but he knew he couldn't risk it.
