Hazel—-

I turned away from the test lab with a confused look on my face. I grabbed Gus' hand and walked away.

"Be careful around them?" He asked me. I just nodded and we went back to my room to hang out.

"Let's face time Isaac." I said and grabbed my lap top. I typed in my password and called Isaac. Soon enough his face with sunglasses on them popped into view.

"Hello?" He said.

"Support group Hazel and Gus." I told him. He smiled.

"Hey guys!" Isaac exclaimed. "What's up?"

"Nothing. There are these patients here that are really weird." I said.

"Why?" He replied with a confused expression. I looked at Gus.

"Well for one, they never touch and seem to be dating or best friends. Second they're really close to the nurses Barb and Julie. Third they pull pranks which makes us wary." Gus told Isaac.

"Well, if they're close to the nurses it must mean they're either there a lot or live there. Have you tried talking to them?" Isaac suggested. 

"No, we haven't." I replied. 

"Go try to!" Isaac exclaimed. "You could make more friends! What are their names?"

"Stella and Will." Augustus said.

"Have you looked on social media?" 

"Nope. I'll do that right now." I pulled out my phone.

"Okay, I got to go guys. Bye." Then he hung up.

"I found Will on instagram." I said. "Bunch of cartoons but recently a few pictures." I clicked on one of Stella laughing.

God, I love you so much. Was the caption. I clicked on another one of the pictures. It showed Stella smiling at the camera.

The caption:

Thanks for letting me draw you... again. 

Then one was her sitting by a pool in a swimsuit. Caption:

deja vu? God you're so beautiful, I wish I could touch you.

"I found Barb's instagram." Gus said and I laughed at why he searched her. She showed me a screenshot of a text message:

New Lungs! Stella!

and next to that was: 

She turned them down for Will. She really does love him.

He showed me a picture of Will and Stella coughing, eyes closed, breathing masks on their faces. Caption:

Pray for them please! PRAY! Stella fell through ice, Will gave her mouth to mouth to save her. Gave his every breath. Very dangerous for the both of them. Prayers needed!

Then next to that was Stella and Will sleeping peace fully in bed five feet apart.

Thank you for all your prayers! 

By the time we were done looking through Will and Barb's instagrams it was dark. "I got to go. Love you." Gus kissed me. 

"Love you too." I said as he walked out. I turned my phone and laptop out and laid down. 

"Lights out, Stella and Will!" I heard Barb shout then laughing. 

Stella---

Will and I finished doing our medications and were just talking. 

"I can't believe they thought we actually drank out own urine!" Will laughed and I joined in.

"I know! It was the funniest thing." We kept laughing until we heard footsteps.

"Lights out Stella and Will!" We laughed at Barb.

"Love you, good night." I said.

"Love you too. Dance and ice skate tomorrow?" He asked.

"Yup." Then I hung up and went to bed. 

Will---

I woke up with a smile on my face. I hopped out of my bed, got dressed in light grey joggers and a white long sleeve shirt, and knocked on Stella's door. Stella answered in leggings and a light blue sweatshirt. 

"Morning." She yawned and stuck the pool cue at me. I grabbed the other end and we walked to breakfast. 

LINE BREAK---

After we ate breakfast we walked down a hallway talking when this girl with a cannula and a boy with a limp walked up to us with friendly smiles. The girl stood about two feet in front of Stella and Stella's eyes widened. Stella backed away when I stepped in front of her.

"Step back. Six feet at all times. Don't you know the rules?" I said. The girl looked confused.

"What? I've never heard of those rules." She said. I backed away and stood five feet away from Stella again.

"You don't have Cystic Fibrosis?" Stella asked. She shook her head.

"No. I have Thyroid and mets in my lungs. Gus, my boyfriend, has Osteosarcoma." She said and wrapped an arm around his waist and he wrapped an arm around her shoulder. I looked at Stella to see sadness in her eyes and staring at the couple. "I'm Hazel." 

"Stella and my boyfriend, Will." She said and choked on her words. "excuse me." Then she let go of the pool cue and ran to her room muttering, "It's not fair." I watched her sadly.

"What was that?" Gus asked.

"She's- we're jealous." I said.

"Of what?" Hazel looked confused.

"Cystic Fibrosis patients aren't allowed to touch. We aren't allowed to be within six feet but they made an exception of five feet for us. We're dating you know and the most we've done is CPR." I teared up at the memory. 

"Oh. That's unfortunate. We looked at Barb's insta. She fell through the ice?" Hazel asked.

"Yeah. We went ice skating when we were like forbid to see each other. We were sitting on the bridge and she fell. She was still there but when I went down to get her she had fell through." I explained. "We don't talk about it. Why don't you come ice skating with us after lunch?" I said.

"Where she fell?" Gus asked incredulously.

"No, at the rink down the block." I said. "Barb gave us four free passes." 

"Alright." Gus said then we went our separate ways.

Gus-

After lunch I grabbed my coat and met Hazel by the door. Soon after Stella and Will came running down the stairs. They stopped in front of us and started to wheeze.

"Sorry, we-" wheeze. "-got caught up with Barb." Stella wheezed out. Then she went into a coughing fit. 

"Okay. Let's go." Will said and soon we were walking down the side walk to the ice rink. On the way there we told Stella and Will our stories and they told us theirs. Soon we were in line to pay.

"Ticket an skates." Will said and handed the guy $10.

"Ticket and skates." Stella handed him $10.

"Tickets and skates. For two." I handed him a $20. Then soon we were on the going on the ice. Someone skated by Stella and Will.

"Ha! Is that Stellie?" the boy said.

"Go away Fred." She said.

"Still sick? Still can't touch other sick people like Poe?" He threatened. Stella turned to Fred, outstretched her arms, and pushed him.

"Don't talk about Poe!" She yelled at him. Fred got up from off the ice and looked at Will. He smirked.

"Who's this?" Fred said.

"My boyfriend, Will." Stella said, and grabbed up the pool cue again. Fred looked at the pool cue.

"He sick too?"

"Yes and worse and I would like you to respect us!" Stella said loudly. 

"Boyfriend?" He thought. "So shouldn't you touch?" He pushed Stella into Will and they fell on top of each other. They held their breath as they stood. 

"Fred!" Stella yelled. "Get lost! That could kill us now!"

"Huh?"

"Cystic Fibrosis isn't a joke! The slightest touch of two CFers could result in death!" Stella shouted. 

"I-i didn't know that, Stella. Sorry." The Fred skated off. 

"Who. Was. That?" Will said. 

"A boy Poe and I went to school with." She said and wiped at her eyes.

"Who's-" Hazel started but Will mouthed, don't ask.

"No, it's okay. Poe was my best friend but he died last year. On Will's birthday." She said and a tear rolled down her cheek. "C-can we go?" She looked at Will.

"yeah." He looked at us. "You're welcome to stay but we'll be heading back for dinner."

"No we'll come with." Hazel said.

LINE BREAK---

Hazel-

After dinner I was getting my pajamas on when I heard ruckus from downstairs. I walked out of my room and saw Gus walked down the stairs. Once I reached the stairs I followed the noise and it led me to the cafeteria. There, I heard Remind Me To Forget playing, saw Stella and Will dancing crazily, and Barb laughing along with Julie. Gus and I watched them dancing with smiles on our faces.

Stella-

I watched Will dance and I laughed at his sloppiness. He smiled at me.

"Let me see you dance then!" he challenged. I laughed and started dancing free style and he cracked up laughing. We kept on dancing no matter how stupid it was. I listened to the lyrics while dancing.

You know how couples have songs? Well, when I was dancing with Will I made this our song and we danced till midnight.

Hazel-

That night I went to bed peacefully until this happened:

I woke up to a blaring alarm. I stood straight up and heard people yelling.

"CODE BLUE! CODE BLUE!" I knew what that meant. Someone's heart stopped beating. I jumped out of bed and yanked my door open. "ROOM 305!" Whose room is that? A voice rang over the intercom: 

"Code blue! Room 0305!" It rang out. My question was answered when Stella's door was thrown open and she ran out. She ran to room 305 and I followed. I saw doctors surrounding a boy and Barb doing CPR.

"Come on Baby. Don't make me go through this again." Barb said. Stella let out a sob.

"Will!" She screamed. My eyes widened as I realized who the boy was. Barb looked at her with wide eyes.

"Hazel! Get her to her room!" She said. I grabbed Stella's hand and pulled her to her room.

"No! Let me go! I need Will!" She sobbed. I looked her in the eyes.

"Stella. They are doing all they can." I said.

"No, no. I went through this with Poe! Not Will too! Call Camila! Call Maya!" She yelled. She sat on her bed, face in her hands, sobbing. I grabbed her laptop and tapped on the names: Camila and Maya. 

"Stella?" they answered. "Why are you still up?" Then they probably heard her sobbing and the alarms.

"Stella?" One of them said. "Stella! What's going on!" Stella wied her eyes and looked at them.

"Code Blue. Will." She said.

"Oh my God. We'll be right over." One of them said before hanging up. 

LINE BREAK---

Two teenage girls burst through the door and hugged Stella tight. "He's going to be okay. he's in the surgery room right now. Lung surgery." 

"Is he breathing or is his heart beating, Maya?" Stella asked.

"I don't know, Stella." She whispered and hugged her again. They stayed like that for an hour until I left to find Gus.

Stella-

I hugged my friends for who knows how long, crying, until Barb walked into the room.

"How is he?" I asked. She looked at me and a few tears rolled down my cheek.

"He's alive. Going through surgery right now." Barb said and that is all I needed to hear before I fell asleep peacefully with my friends beside me.
