There were 10 prachetas who were married to the daughter of Rishi Kandu, Marisha. These prachetas were assigned to populate the earth and work as Prajapatis.

Happy with their work and austerity, Narayan blessed them with a beautiful daughter who was born at the most auspicious hour of full moon, they named her Chandrika.
