Pet peeve: dialogue specific writing. This makes it hard to understand the setting in which the characters are being set in
Incorrect example:
Alex: I need to keep running from the monster!
Alex: *falls*
Correct example:
As Alex was running from the horrific beast he released unwillingly. He shouted
    "I need to keep running from the monster!"
Then, poor Alex fell.

Tip: when you're creating dialogue. Add details before or afterward to set the mood. Don't use "said" over and over again.

Nouns are the person, place, thing, feeling, or idea
Adjectives describe the noun/nouns
