♡ Drunk in Love

I was reading the newest installment to Beaver_Artzz's oneshot book and so that was my inspiration for this! If you get a chance, check out that book because I would literally marry the Sabriel (and Destiel but SABRIEL) fics.

In my marketing class we get to pick the music, and the Twenty One Pilots cover of Can't Help Falling in Love With You came on. I started crying and fell on the floor until it was over. Hallelujah for literally five of us in that class.

Gabe had never felt so terrible in his life, and he'd been around for centuries. He'd hit an all time low this time.

Beside him was a tray full of vodka bottles. The angel curled one knee to his chest as he picked up the cranberry lemonade one, tipping his head back until it hit the wall and chugging.

By the end of the night, or rather until Gabe passed out, the angel was going to be piss drunk. It takes a fair amount to get him drunk, more so than most of his brothers and sisters, even. As of now, this was his fifteenth bottle and he was buzzed only a little. It was just enough to make his sight blur only a tinge and his thoughts begin to flow out into the room.

For the past month, Sam had been gone. Gabe had promised him that he could go stay with Jess for a while in Heaven. The moose hadn't been himself before that, the dam that had kept all of his emotions at bay breaking and leaving him a mess that wouldn't leave his room.

Even though he knew what would happen, Gabe took him there anyway. He flew Sam to Jess's heaven and stayed there for a while. When it became too much he flew off, not able to really stop himself from reacting.

That's what led him here. He hasn't seen Sam in two weeks. It was taking its toll on him, making him unable to leave his room. Hell, he'd barely moved from the bed to where he was slumped against the wall.

"Alone again," Gabe sang out, "naturally." He giggled and took another swig of his vodka, feeling the burning liquid swim down his throat.

Soon all of the vodka bottles were gone and he began to quietly sob, almost unaware we was doing it. He grasped one of the empty bottles, holding onto it as if it was the past piece of stability for him. In some ways, it probably was.

"Gabriel?" Cas's quiet voice called from the other side of the door. "Might I come in?"

He giggled. "Course, Cassie!"

His little brother opened the door and peered inside, concerned blue meeting hazy, depressed gold instantly. Cas tilted his head and frowned, entering and pushing the door closed.

Cas came to rest squatting in front of his older brother. "Why have you been drinking so much?" he asked softly.

"I like the taste," Gabe slurred. "Prob'ly wha Sammy baby tastes like." He looked down at the bottle and giggled. "Yeah. Samsquatch lips on a beer."

"That's vodka."

Gabe stuck out his tongue, squeezing his eyes shut. "It's alcohol, Cassie Cat."

Cas rolled his eyes. "I'm going to get Sam now," he told his brother.

"No!" The archangel bolted up, eyes wide. "He'll only hate me more!" He slumped over. "Sammy don't like me," he whispered.

And that's when the dam broke. His body began convulsing and Cas was suddenly against him, clutching him into a tight hug. Gabe sobbed for what felt like hours, letting out everything he'd kept bottled up for years.

Finally he collapsed against the wall again and his exhaustion took over. Cas sighed, picking up his brother and carrying him to his room, setting him lightly on his bed, pulling his covers up.

As for Cas? He had work to do. His ship would NOT sink on his watch.

Sam was with Jess up in Heaven. Gabe had let him stay in her part of it for a month, which for the sake of this oneshot, is the same on Earth as it was up here.

He was happy, yes, but at the same time... he wasn't. He tried to shrug it off, but he couldn't. The cloud of sadness became like a cloak - he would wear it everywhere they went.

Finally Jess sighed and sat them down. They were in the grass, on top of a plaid blanket. She gave him a look that meant she was going into concerned, business mode.

"Sam," she began, "I think you need to leave."

He was taken aback. "What? Why?"

"You don't love me like you used to." Jess smiled sadly. "I don't, either. I found someone here, Sam, and I know you found someone there."

Sam shook his head. "I don't..." He allowed the sentence to drop, not able to say much. He could feel the heat rising to his cheeks, a sign that she was right. Not that the Winchester would truly admit it.

Jess rolled her eyes. "The second Gabe left, you got depressed. When he was around, you were bubbly and witty and full of life."

"The only reason I'm here is because I needed to see you," he argued half-heartedly.

"You wanted to cover it," she said sympathetically. "You only came here to prove a few things to yourself, one of them being that you fell far too hard for that angel." Jess folded her arms and gave him a pointed glare.

He looked away and she gently touched his cheek. "You and I weren't meant to have more than what we had," she whispered. "We're in the past."

Sam felt his eyes water. "How am I supposed to even begin to tell him?"

"That's to my assistance." They both turned to see Cas standing there, looking as awkward as ever.

Jess muttered, "Sam, you and Gabriel are meant for something more. Let your friend help."

He nodded and Cas reached for him. Sam put his hand on his arm, and said to the girl, "Thank you."

She smiled. "Go get him, tiger."

In an instant they were back in the bunker, in Gabe's room. The angel was buried in blankets, sound asleep. His whiskey eyes were closed, his hair floating like a fitting halo around his head. His hand lay on the pillow beside him, mouth slightly open. For once he looked innocent, vulnerable.

"If you're worried about him not returning your love, I can assure you that that is not the case." Cas smiled sadly. "I found him blatantly drunk. Fifteen bottles of heavy vodka, and that's only what I saw. There could have been more."

Sam's eyes were still resting on the sleeping archangel when he asked, "Why?"

"He could not see you with Jessica much longer," Cas explained. "He handles his pain much like Dean - with alcohol."

Sam sighed and sat gingerly on the bed so as not to wake Gabe. He crawled up to the headboard, leaning his back against it, fingers going to the golden hair.

"I will leave now," Cas murmured before fluttering away, his wings making a small sound.

He suddenly thought of how Gabe's wings would be. It was an odd thing to envision, yes, but he couldn't bring himself to care. He knew that angel wings were intimate, only fully shown to mates. But he couldn't bring himself to care.

Sam continued to lay there, stroking Gabe's hair, for a good while. It wasn't until the angel began to wake up that he stilled, unsure of how he would take to Sam's presence.

Gabe yawned, his eyes slowly opening drowsily. He tilted his head up to look at Sam curiously. For a moment all he did was stare, the hunter feeling awkward under the gaze, before his eyes went wode with realization and he backed away.

"What are you doing here?" Gabe asked, almost like he was in a panic. "What about Jess?"

Sam shook his head. "I went there to prove something to myself," he said. "And I did. So I'm back."

Gabe gulped and looked away. "That doesn't exactly explain why you're in my bed when I clearly remember passing out against a wall."

"Cas brought me."

"Oh." The angel bit his lip roughly and cleared his throat. "What did you, uh, need to prove?"

Sam smiled. "Allow me to show you, my dear Gabriel."

Gabe's eyes snapped over to meet with his, surprised. Sam took that moment to surge across the distance, slamming his lips onto Gabe's with as much of his pent up emotions as he could.

A small gasp left the angel as he froze, tensed. Slowly he drifted into the kiss, arms winding around his neck and into Sam's hair to pull him closer. The hunter rolled them over so that Gabe was in the hunter's lap, curled protectively in his arms.

Sam pulled away and said against his lips, "I fell for you, Gabriel."

Gabe smiled, flushing gently. "Me too, Moose. I fell way too far."

Guess who's back?
