Chapter Thirteen
"We're strictly forbidden! No!" Lily Evans cried from outside the girls room. Jenna was settled on her comfy bed in a very dog-like way. A book was rested in her hands, as usual.
"Shut up, we'll get caught!" A familiar voice hissed. This now seemed very suspicious to Jenna. She pushed herself up out of bed and edged closer ever so slightly to the door, making sure she didn't wake Marlene.
Sirius and James were dragging Lily down the hallway, supposedly downstairs.
"Lily?" Jenna stood by the doorframe, raising a brow doubtfully.
"Jenna! These idiots are taking me outside-"
"Wait. Where?"
"Out-"
"We are not!"
"Let me speak!" Lily huffed, pushing their arms off of her pyjama top. "Jenna, listen. There's something dark outside." She glanced around tensely.
"Like what?"
"Something- someone is out there. We heard it. And we need you to come with us-"
"-what good am I?" Jenna growled.
"Shh! Everyone knows now about your little problem. And, well, no one is going to injure a dog, are they? So, we figured- I figured," The boys glared at her, "that you would be able to sniff it out and then come and tell us."
Silence filled the room as Jenna stood looking at her feet and feeling uncomfortable. "H-How did you find out?" She asked quietly.
"Well, one of the boys saw a puppy take his sheet and jump into the pool, and, well. They saw you a few moments later." Marlene suddenly appeared at the door.
"Shut up! Don't you know some of us are trying to have a good nights sleep?" She yawned then leant against the wall, picking at her hangnail.
"Sorree." James scoffed, fortuitously knocking into a table and sending it flying down the stairs. Yelps and 'what was that?'s suddenly erupted from all sides. Everyone in the hallway froze.
"RUN!" Sirius shrieked, taking the steps two at a time to avoid getting caught by the professors. The rest followed briskly, until Marlene tripped, toppled down the stairs and knocked the foursome onto the stone floor.
"Ouch... My glasses!" James pushed himself up and took them off, staring at them with his eyes wide and his mouth open in awe.
"Oh, oculus reparo." Jenna pulled out her wand and flicked it towards them.
"Jenna, you really are a lifesaver sometimes." Sirius grinned, clapping her on the back.
"Oh, come on! They're coming!" Lily snatched Jenna's hand and bolted ahead to the back door. She performed a spell on it and opened it, before standing back to let them past. "Peter!" She snarled: he had stepped onto the last step, a dreadful mistake when the professors were trying to locate them. A long, painful creak gave forth.
The six were settled by the pool side, their shoes were rested against the ladder to the diving board. The moonlight shimmered against the pool's facet, creating a possessing wave to spread over it like a paper fan.
Remus unexpectedly slipped through the ajar back door and, seeing his friends, smiled to himself and went to join them.
"Hi Remus. It's a beautiful night, hm?" Jenna whispered, nudging him gently.
"It sure is," indeed, the moon did seem more alluring than usual. The only sound was the clock ticking, a familiar noise to many. Everything seemed just right for the Gryffindors. Everything.
"Jenna!"
