Chapter Six
The five got quite excited when the abundant, elderly-looking castle came into sight. They all reported rumours they had heard about the teachers, lessons and generally everything.
"I heard there's a ball where you have to ask someone out," Sirius told us breathtakingly.
"Have to?!" Peter bit his lip and the others laughed.
"I heard that Professor Slughorn is a very good teacher. He explai-" Remus began but flushed when the others were all talking together.
They all ambled out of the train, butterflies in their stomachs, waiting impatiently to get inside to the warmth: rain was bucketing down. Jenna saw some twins bickering over who should be in Slytherin. She giggled and then jumped when a booming but familiar voice overhead spoke.
"Firs' years over here! Firs' years! Oh? 'Ello Marlene. And Jenna!" Hagrid would smile under his bushy beard, gazing at them both. The girl named Marlene was a pretty blonde girl, flushing sheepishy.
"What d'ya think's inside?" James nudged Lily playfully with a grin, showing his white teeth. His face fell when she glared at him for a moment and continued to talk with Snape about the Hogwarts Houses.
Hagrid led the children to a dark lake where around a dozen boats lay, ready to be riden. Jenna shared a boat with Remus and some blonde-haired boy.
"Malfoy. Lucius Malfoy. You?" He started on Remus.
"Uhm, I'm Remus Lupin." He'd chose not to continue the conversation: Remus knew who the Malfoys were and what they did.
It seemed that all of the first years were zealous about entering the Hogwarts castle. Many spoke exhilaratingly of its many walls and odd enchantments. Jenna stood by the large oak doors, her heart racing. She had read in one of her textbooks that a hat was placed upon your head and you were Sorted in a House. It sounded nerve-racking.
"Follow me, first years!" A witch in robes beckoned is over. "Now, you will be Sorted into your Houses. They are: Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw and Slytherin." Jenna saw Lucius smile at 'Slytherin'.
They were all then sent into the Great Hall. Floating candles hung from the ceiling - not by strings - by themselves. Four long oak benches lay parallel to each other, two on each side of the hall. At the back was a great table with a royal-looking chair. Jenna gaped at all of this.
"Wow."
