Chapter Fifteen

"Who are you taking Jenna?" Marlene fidgeted with a little toy bone her father had given her for her fifth birthday.

"M-Me?" She said weakly, sitting up. Her eye was covered by a rather large bruise, but she wasn't in affliction by it. The scars on her arms still rested there, making her feel unsettled and uncomfortable.

"Yeah. Wait, let me guess. Remus?"

"No! I-I just... Nobody will want to take me."

"Come off it! You're Jenna Jones! Your father is famous!"

Jenna got up out of bed and rested her elbows on the windowsill, looking out onto the boys playing volleyball in the pool.

"I'm sorry- I didn't mean-" Marlene stood beside her and put an arm on her shoulder. Jenna beamed at her.

"Who are you bringing anyway?" She yawned and watched her miniature broomstick zoom around the room.

"Oh, you'll see," Marlene grimaced, but followed Jenna's eyes to the minute broom racing around.

The foursome had moved their beds together: luckily Frank Longbottom regularly slipped out at night to visit Alice. "Pathetic, isn't he?" Sirius grinned. They were remarking Frank's attempts to canoodle with Alice. Behind him settled was a toy hippogriff: he was embarrassed by it even though Remus had a toy wolf. The curtains suddenly flicked as the evening air flew in.

"Just a little bit," James was sprawled out over three beds so Remus and Peter sat in the comfy armchairs. A putrid smell suddenly filled the room.

"Remus!" Sirius shrieked, jumping up and running to the door.

"That was James!" Remus stood up and covered his nose with his sweater. James smirked from the beds, sighing pleasantly as he had claimed Sirius' too.

"You dog!" Sirius grinned, pushing James off the beds and reclaiming his own. Remus and a Peter rushed over and did the same.

The morning air breezing in lifted the confined evening air from the bedrooms. Jenna woke up, yawned, stretched and checked her bedside clock. It told her that it was the 14th, that the forecast was sunny and it was eight o'clock in the morning.

She jumped out of bed and went over to wake Lily and Marlene. They were both sound asleep, so she had to refrain from waking them. Her clothes for that day lay in a small pile by her bedside. A flowing dress and some slipper-like shoes.

The boys were also kitted out for the day: Sirius hadn't got a wink of sleep that night, he'd been painting his nails and biting them in fear. Remus was writing random love letters, to whom he did not know.

James and Peter didn't have a worry. They had woken up as usual, put on their dress robes and headed down to breakfast already.

"Remus, mate. Who're you taking to the feast?"

He looked up from his parchment. "Sorry?"

Sirius rolled his eyes. "Your partner."

"Oh. Well-" A bell rang from downstairs. The duos eyes widened and they dropped their belongings, (Sirius' nail polish on the rug) and bolted outside.

"Ooh! I'm so excited!" Jenna grinned, clapping her hands together as she waited by the door to the hall.

"I'm not." Marlene made a face which made all of the girls giggle.

The doors suddenly opened. Over on the other side of the vast hall, the boys stood rowdily in line. James stood with his chest puffed out, making kissy faces at Lily Evans. She flushed a deep red and turned to go to the back of the line. Remus, on the other hand, was gnawing at his fingernails like a nervous wreck.

"I don't even know who I'm going with!" He cried, burying his face into his suit-like dress robes.

"Listen. You're probably hot to most girls. You have no problem whatsoever. So quit moaning." Sirius pushed him out into the lit hall as he was holding up the line.

Jenna stepped out into the hall, her heart beating fast. Lily had already gone to join Severus to dance, which left James crying in the toilets. Marlene was with Sirius, with whom she seemed to actually be enjoying her time with. Abigail with Peter, and Remus in the corner, his eyes wide with tears and eating all of the cookies.

She stood up. She had had enough of no one to spend the romantic night with. Remus stood up too. They caught each other's eyes, and beamed. They ran to each other and caught each other in a big hug. It caught him off guard, but while Jenna sobbed into his shoulder, Remus held her close. He started to move them into a kind of dance pattern, until Jenna finally wiped her eyes and they danced. They danced till the night never seemed to end. They danced like there was no tomorrow. They danced.
