Chapter Eighteen
Sirius sat in detention, picking at some loose wood on his chair. Professor McGonagall had her head stuck in an assignment from some fourth-years.
"PST! Jenna!" He hissed, throwing a paper ball at her to catch her attention. She turned around and glared at him. "We could make it away at this rate." He glanced at McGonagall with a small fiendish grin forming on his face.
"In your dreams." Jenna pushed the paper ball off of her table and continued to work.
"Oh, come o-"
"Black! Five more minutes for you, now Jenna will be out half an hour earlier than you!" Professor McGonagall barked, her eyes like a hawks bearing down on him. She thrust a Transfiguration worksheet onto his table.
Jenna was settled on the rug in front of the fire in the common room, her legs up to her chest. The flames danced in their place: Jenna pictured running in a field, perhaps till she could do no more.
"Jenna?" Remus stood by her, clutching his workbooks tight to his chest. "Do you know what we have to do for our Potions homework?" He took a seat in the armchair nearby.
"Yeah, come down here." Jenna's voice was hoarse after not talking for a while. He obeyed her instructions. "So, this is what you have to do." She took out a flask and a folder.
"You put the folder into the flask?"
She giggled. "No. I thought you were clever!"
"Well, I'm not, really..."
"I was joking." Jenna grinned, opening her folder and taking out lots of ingredients. "One spider eye."
The session flew by, the two were having so much fun they didn't even notice that it was midnight already. One last ingredient was situated in Jenna's folder.
"Now." Remus' potion was now bubbling, sending smoke up into the ceiling. "Just one more. Y-You better step back." Jenna glanced sat him nervously. They both took a step backwards. Jenna crouched down and added a small drop of purple solution, before running to the armchair and hiding behind it.
BOOM. The duo sheepishly dared to take a glance. The rug had a great big black smear on it.
"Oh no!" Remus gasped, but Jenna was laughing.
"That was so fun!"
"I-It was?" Remus raised a brow, leaning forward to examine the damage.
"Sure it was! I'm guessing you didn't have to brew a Spinning Potion."
"Cool. Let's clean up, anyway." He grinned, brandishing his wand and donning his patched jacket.
Sirius suddenly appeared at the stairs. "What are you two doing? Oh wait, let me guess." He glared, running back up the stairs.
"What?" Remus growled, looking up at him.
"It's nothing. Maybe you're just snogging."
