Music

I love music. I've been listening to music since I was barely one. I'll be honest - I don't know a lot of songs in other genres, but I do know a lot about the one most popular genre - pop music. There's boy bands like One Direction & 5 Seconds of Summer, older bands like OneRepublic & Maroon 5, girl singers like Taylor Swift & Ariana Grande, guy singers like Sam Smith & Ed Sheeran, and rappers like Nikki Minaj & Kanye West. There's a lot of undiscovered talents out there too, but we'll get to them a bit later. For now, let's talk about the music these people produce.

But WAIT: Before I begin, let me warn you that these are my opinions and the things that make me annoyed! If you don't like it, A. go check out the first complaint, and B. follow the directions there. Much appreciated! :P

Anyways.

Let's talk about a rapper by the name of Iggy Azalea. If you've heard her song 'Pretty Girls', keep reading. If not, you can waste your time and go search it up online, or you could use your time wisely and just keep reading. I'd recommend the second option. So the song - dare I call it one - is just Britney Spears and Iggy Azalea talking. I can't even call it rapping. Rapping is what Eminem does in Rap God, speaking so super fast to the tune with a rhythm. There is no rhythm to Pretty Girls, no speed, no singing. It is just talking to a tune. I despise it.

Now let's talk about a really popular song called '#Selfie' by someone named The Chainsmokers. I like to think of it as a one hit wonder. Let's go back to Pretty Girls for a second. If you took out the background tune and had somebody sing that song, you'd think they're just talking. Same goes for this - again, dare I say it - song. Worst, the things they say are just raw junk. I might sound like an old grandmother, but wait a minute.

These things are words to a tune, called a song. Let's talk about songs with nonsensical or bad meanings. There was a song that came out a while ago called 'Talk Dirty' by Jason Derulo. Just by the title, if you've heard it or not, you can tell it's not going to be very appropriate. Still, there are elementary school kids that like to listen to the radio, and when they hear the rap in Talk Dirty, either A- the awkward questions like 'what does this mean' come flying in, and/or B- they've just been scarred for life.

Take the song 'All About That Bass' by Meghan Trainor. It's not the best in terms of tune and music, but the message is really good for our generation - you're fine just the way you are. With all those anorexic teens and figure conscious kids, it's perfect!

Now we'll take 'Problem' by Ariana Grande. The tune is really catchy and her voice rocks in it, but do I really care about Ariana Grande having 99 problems on the long run?

What about the song 'Brave' by Sara Barilles? The lyrics are good, the tune rocks, it's a great song!

I just get so annoyed whenever I hear the song '#Selfie', and I know I'm not the only one. If you dislike the song just as much as I do, check out the video for a fun piano version of it by Sam Tsui. I've added it to this part.

Byeeeeeeee! :P
