Fangirls
I'M SORRY EVERYONE! But....I had to! Please don't hit me!
What is the definition of a fangirl? According to Merriam-Webster, this is what a fangirl is.
fangirl
noun | fan·girl | \ˈfan-ˌgər(-ə)l\: a girl or woman who is an extremely or overly enthusiastic fan of someone or something
It's true! A fangirl is exactly that, and at times (not all the time), it's beyond annoying.
Like, for example, take books. I was reading this book on Wattpad, TBBSMB, by @Cherry_Cola_x. In this book, there were some parts that even I'll admit were kinda cute. Many people were fairly calm about it, gushing softly, like "Awwww!" or "That's so sweet!" However, a large majority of the comments went like this:
"OMFG ANW,JBKENLKWHJL"
"CUTENESS OVERLOAD OMG HUGHFYFWEHKM.MHCFXFHFJGFJ"
"MARRY ME/HER ALREADY!!!!! fygygijphjddregbklm"
and much more than you'd expect, just plain "fyhwoosjndknmxbhafywrteqf!!!!!!!!"
And honestly, I don't mind the 'OMG's and the 'Cuteness overload's and 'Marry me/her already's much. I'm pretty sure the author would feel happy if she reads that comment, knowing that she did a good job writing her story. But all those random letter blurb thingys? That's just annoying and spam. I doubt the author would like that much.
And then you have those 5sos, and 1direction, and Phan, and anime, and creepypasta fangirls. They rule the fandoms, so everything they talk about anytime has to do with that. Like, honestly, I can never talk to one of these fangirls ever. This is a conversation that happened on Wattpad with me and this one girl (PM).
THEM: Hi! Thanks for following me! If you can, please read my book, "Adopted by Lashton!!!"
ME: No problem! I'll see if I can read the book sometime! (I don't know what Lashton is, but I'm gonna be nice and I am not gonna tell her)
THEM: OMG, thanks so much! So what's up?
ME: nm. So how long have u been on wp? (WP is Wattpad)
THEM: *completely ignores that I ever said anything* I LOVE LASHTON, don't u?! They are so cute! And so is Phan!
ME: uh....
THEM: AND OMG, did u watch fairy tail today?!
ME: uh, idk what that is.
THEM: OMG, there's a FNAF4!!!! Imma write about it!!!!!!! L8r bestie!
I got so freaked by this girl that I just deleted the conversation and unfollowed her. She PM-ed me a couple days later asking why I unfollowed her, but I just ignored her and deleted that conversation. Much later, I found a screenshot of that same conversation in my photo library, credits to my little sister, and I copied the convo straight from the screenshot.
That girl that wrote the "Adopted By Lashton" book disappeared. I never saw her, but I saw lots of books just like those. here are some of my favorites.
"Adopted by Lashton"
"My mom is Ariana Grande"
"5sos Adopted Me!!"
"Cameron Dallas & Ariana Grande Adopt Me"
Like, bruh. I doubt they would actually want to adopt you or any teenager. I'm pretty sure you/teenager are barely 10 years younger than 5sos/Ariana Grande, so why would a teenager be their child?! That's all kinds of wrong.
But the fangirls continue. Those people who write fanfiction, read fanfiction, eat fanfiction, breathe fanfiction are EVERYWHERE. I wish they would say or do or feel something that doesn't involve their favorite fandom. How obsessed you are....that's just unhealthy. So please, I beg you, calm down the hero-worshiping! It won't help you get into a good college and lead a good life.
Now, with that being said, there's nothing wrong with liking or enjoying a fandom. In fact, even I love my favorite TV show and often times contribute to the Wikia, make Gifs, make things to do with that, whatever! But there's a fine line between liking and enjoying the fandom, & living only for it. I suggest the fangirls tone it down a bit, cause believe me, you will NOT remember that Dan & Phil craze from 8th or 9th or whatever grade when you're applying for colleges or getting a job or lying on your deathbed.
*BIG GRIN* sorry for the harshness! 😋
