Everyone gathered around the Lake of Avalon. Uther's body was carefully clothed and laid on large floating boat, with flowers all around. His cloak and crown were on. Arthur pushed Uther into the water, and let his body float towards the middle.
The priest led the group into a prayer, and then Arthur shot the flaming arrow that sent the boat ablaze. Arthur watched grimly, with Merlin by his side. Everyone was silent as the float drifted further and further away. Everyone started to fil back to the kingdom, while Arthur, Merlin, Gaius, Leon, Percival, Gwen, Gwain, and a couple of other knights stayed behind.
Arthur had already cried his eyes out that morning, so he was not able to produce anymore tears. He just sat there with circles around his eyes. Merlin ended up finding a short sleeve shirt, and they completely cut off one of the sleeves so his bad arm could be wrapped.
The word had gone around about what Merlin tried doing, and he became the talk of the kingdom. How he injured himself again after taking a knife for Arthur, to try to save Uther. He was somewhat of a hero. Although he never did save Uther.
"We should head back. The priest wants the coronation to happen as soon as possible. We are under a threat at the moment, and we have sent a document denouncing all ties to Stavia. We will need a king, and your uncle cannot arrive quick enough." Gaius told Arthur. He nodded, and they headed to carts and horses. Gaius climbed onto a filled cart for the elderly, and the coach drove off.
Gwen climbed onto Merlin's horse, as she arrived that way, and everyone rode back to Camelot.
The roads where all cleared. Everyone was told to stay inside and not to open their businesses. They were supposed to be mourning. Merlin dropped Gwen off at her house, and the rest placed away their horses, and went inside. Many of the servants bustled around getting things done. Many of the visiting lords ordered them to clean the curtains and get the hall ready for Arthur's coronation.
One of the lord's walked to Arthur, and pulled him to the side.
"Do you have any idea who you want to marry yet? You will need a Queen at some point." He said. Arthur nodded.
"At some point I will produce an heir. But now is not the time to try to bring a child up. I need to focus on becoming king, and solving some resolutions." Arthur told him. He joined Merlin, and they headed to his quarters.
Merlin brought Arthur a tub to take a bath in, and heated the water to his liking. Arthur climbed in, and relaxed a little. He used a clean white rag to wash himself off. Merlin looked around his wardrobes, and found his ceremonial clothes. He laid out the Camelot cloak, and retrieved the new crown from a special compartment in the wall. He also grabbed the prince crown, and laid it beside.
Arthur got out and got dressed. Merlin helped him into the many layers of clothes, and then placed the cloak onto him. Merlin placed the prince's crown delicately on Arthur's head, and looked at him.
"You look great." Merlin told him. Merlin hugged him, and Arthur hugged back.
They let go, and awkwardly stood there at the same distance. Merlin felt very close to Arthur physically, and it felt a little awkward. Someone knocked onto the door.
"Prince Arthur. The priest would like you to head down know." The servant told Arthur through the door.
"I will be there in a moment." Arthur told him. Arthur looked back at Merlin sadly. Merlin smiled, and grabbed his face. Merlin brought Arthur's head to himself, and Merlin kissed his forehead.
"You will be an amazing king. I know it." Merlin told Arthur. Arthur smiled to Merlin. They separated, and Merlin grabbed on some of Arthur's older attire to wear to the coronation. He was to stand by Arthur's side.
The two headed down to the great hall, and walked down the isle. There were not that many inside the hall since only the nearest lords could manage to attend. Servants stood along the perimeter, and knights stood guard everywhere. The priest walked up to the two.
"Where's the crown?" He asked. Merlin handed it to him. The priest nodded and inspected it.
"Do you have a speech planned out, or would you like to save that for later?" He asked.
"I do not have a speech sadly. I want to give one publically as I announce the laws, and what I will change. I'd rather have a couple days to mourn before I get straight to work." Arthur told him. The priest understood, and guided Arthur out of the room. Merlin went the opposite direction, and stood beside the throne.
The instrumentalists got into position, and the knights placed themselves at the opening of the door. Everyone stood up, and looked at the entrance. The music started, and the doors opened. Arthur walked down the aisle with his cloak dragging slightly. As Arthur got to the very front, the music stopped.
"Ladies, gentlemen, Lords, sires, maids, servants. We are gathered here today to witness the coronation and crowning of Arthur Pendragon. Let us all bear witness as we welcome the new King of Camelot, and as we enter a new age and a new reign." The priest said. Arthur automatically went onto one knee. Merlin handed the priest the crown, and the priest placed the crown onto Arthur's head.
"Rise my child, and address your kingdom. Have pride for your people, and strive to lead the kingdom." The priest said. Arthur rose, and faced the people. No one said a word. Arthur went to the throne, and sat down. Merlin stood beside him, and had one hand on the throne's back.
"Your new king, Arthur Pendragon!" The priest exclaimed. The small crowd of people clapped and cheered.
"All hail the King!" Someone chanted. And soon the room was filled with chanting. Arthur couldn't help but smile. Merlin smiled along. Arthur looked up to Merlin, and chuckled lightly. Merlin blushed and nodded.
The crowd soon dispersed, and Arthur got up to leave. Merlin followed.
As soon as Arthur got back into his quarters, he stripped off all the attire, and climbed into normal everyday clothes. He grabbed a blanket, and turned to Merlin.
Arthur walked over to Merlin, and picked him up bridal style.
"What is happening?" Merlin asked confused. Arthur smirked.
"You'll see soon." Was all he said. He walked out of the room, with Merlin still in his arms. They passed by servants and maids, and they all looked at them oddly.
"Looks like you're going to have fun." Gwain commented as they passed. Arthur laughed, and Merlin hid his face.
"Seriously Arthur, let me go. I can walk on my own." Merlin giggled. Arthur shook his head.
Arthur strapped his sword onto Day, and he climbed up. Instead of putting Merlin behind himself, he placed Merlin right across his lap, so Merlin's feet were off to one side. Arthur grabbed onto the reigns, and Day shot out of the stable. Merlin grabbed onto Arthur for dear life as they sped away, and out past the gates.
"STOOOPPPPP!" Merlin exclaimed. Arthur laughed.
"C'mon Merlin! Don't be like that!" Arthur exclaimed gleefully. They trotted further and further away. Arthur finally slowed down Day, and they were at a walking pace.
"Why did you kidnap me?" Merlin asked.
"I wanted to get away from everything, but I also wanted to be with you. So I combined the two ideas together." Arthur told him simply. Merlin rolled his eyes, but smiled.
"We're here." Arthur said. He let Merlin slide off, and then he climbed down. Arthur grabbed the blanket and sword, and lead Merlin to a cliff that overlooked the mountains.
"It's a great view." Merlin agreed. Arthur laid down the blanket, sat down, and patted for Merlin to join. Merlin gladly accepted the request, and sat down.
They sat there in silence, and enjoyed the others company. Arthur laid back.
"Are you and Gwen a thing? Do you fancy her?" Arthur asked. Merlin shook his head.
"Definitely not. She's like my sister." Merlin told him. Arthur nodded.
"So Arthur. Who are you thinking of making your Queen?" Merlin asked. Arthur shrugged.
"I'm not even sure I want to have a Queen rule with me." Arthur told him. Merlin nodded.
"What are you a fruit now?" Merlin joked. Arthur blushed.
"Do you have a problem with fruits?" Arthur asked, making it sound airy.
"I mean how could I. I am one." Merlin laughed. Arthur laughed along with him.
"How come you held this from me?" Arthur asked. Merlin sighed and laid back.
"Well Camelot does have policies. Don't speak about it, and no one gets hurt. I'd rather stay safe and single." Merlin explained. Arthur nodded.
"You know. I realized that after all the princesses and daughters of Lords, I haven't liked any of them. Not even a little crush or anything. But there was this one son of a lord that I hung out with sometimes when I was younger. Now that I looked back on it I guess I fancied him." Arthur expressed to Merlin.
"So you are homosexual as well?" Merlin asked.
"I believe so. But I need to have an heir. I don't want to marry someone I don't like. I certainly would not want to reproduce with them." Arthur said. Merlin agreed. No one would want a child that the mother they did not love.
"You'll have to think about that later I suppose. No use thinking about it know since it will be awhile till you need an heir." Merlin told him. Arthur nodded. The sun had moved, and the trees promised a very nice shade from the bright sun rays.
"Do you fancy anyone as of right now?" Arthur asked.
"I do. I have for awhile now. And you?" Merlin asked.
"Same goes for me." Arthur answered. "Describe who you fancy in only three words." Arthur shot. It was like a little game between the two.
"Strong, blue-eyed, and pratty." Merlin said. "And you?"
"Magical and lanky." Arthur told him.
"But's that's only two words." He said.
"Oh yeah. The third word is 'Merlin.'" Arthur finished. Merlin's eyes widened as he sat up.
"So magical, lanky, and Merlin. How many Merlin's do you know?" Merlin asked. Arthur smiled and shook his head.
"Nope." He said, popping the 'p' sound. Merlin furiously blushed and looked away.
"Well if I may add an extra word, I could say 'Arthur.'" Merlin told him. Arthur smiled happily.
"And how many Arthur's do you know?" Arthur asked. Merlin smiled to Arthur.
"Only you."
Arthur shot up, and tackled Merlin to the ground, making sure to not to hurt Merlin's shoulder. Merlin giggled, and soon Arthur was pressing his lips to Merlin's. Merlin kissed back happily, and let Arthur hold onto his skinny hips.
"You really are a prat." Merlin giggled.
"Then you must me my idiot." Arthur retorted smoothly. Merlin wrapped his arms around Arthur's neck, and brought him in for another kiss. Merlin was so happy, that he could feel his magic bubble in him. All around them, flowers that were once dying from the cold, blossomed all at once, and the whole cliff side was filled with yellow dandelions.
Arthur and Merlin separated, and looked around.
"You really are an amazing person." Arthur said. Merlin smiled to him, and Arthur got off to lay back. Merlin immediately scooted to his side, and turned to Arthur. He rested his head on Arthur's chest, and rested his injured arm onto Arthur's stomach.
"Would you be okay dating a prat like myself?" Arthur asked. Merlin dug his face away.
"Of course I would." Merlin accepted. They laid there for an hour or so more, and then packed up to leave.
Arthur helped Merlin onto Day as he only had one useful arm, and then Arthur climbed in front. Merlin wrapped his good arm around Arthur's waist, and Arthur set off, a little slower than before, but at a decent trot.
They soon arrived back into Camelot, and Arthur docked Day next to Night. Arthur hopped off, and helped Merlin down.
The two headed inside to put away the sword.
"Sire where have you been?" A Lord asked as they passed by.
"I went for a trip in the woods. It was quite relaxing." Arthur told him.
"Well only a couple Lords have left. Are you still holding the banquet tonight?" He asked. Arthur nodded.
"I am going to have it set up in just a moment so by the time it's ready, it will be dinner time." Arthur and Merlin excused themselves, and headed to the dinning hall.
Merlin went straight to work fixing up the hall.
Arthur watched Merlin order around the servants.
'He would make a great king.' Arthur thought.
