VI : And Are You Cool?
"Mumbo, Doc, Scar, Beef, Ren, Tango, Jimmy, Cleo, Gem and Bdubs are coming today." Doc mumbled as he and Etho stood on the rooftop.
Etho called Doc to talk about the mechanical leg that Joel had left here earlier, but they've kind of trailed off.
"I think Cleo's dragging along Lizzie as well but I'm not sure. Scar might not make it, he's got some stress with exams, but you got everyone else I think." Etho spoke, his voice quiet as he eyed Doc's cigarette. "Smoking kills you, you know?"
Doc looked at him from the side and nodded before puffing out a cloud of gray smoke with a blueish glint. "Tell me something new." he scoffed and rolled his eyes. "I'm half android.. or cyborg, whatever," Doc cleared his throat before continuing, "Look, what I'm trying to say is, I have enough people telling me that on a daily basis and I would welcome more mechanical organs anyways."
Etho sighed. "Sorry."
"Don't worry about it. Back to actual business now, what's up with the leg? Why'd you need my help?" Doc took a deep breath, putting his cigarette out and leaving it in the ash tray.
"It's- supposed to work?" Etho started, frowning, "Like it's not supposed to malfunction, there's nothing there to make it malfunction." He said slowly as if he was over thinking every word he said.
"What do you mean?" Doc laughed lightly and turned to look at his friend.
"I scanned it! But I can see it malfunctioning, it just kind of twitches every now and then, but there's no problem with the code or wiring!" Etho grumbled, resting his head on his hands. The wind was picking up, they should be going back inside soon
Doc blinked at him, expression slowly melting into a frown.
"But I uh, I didn't quite get the wiring, to be honest. It's not uptown that's for sure-" Etho fell silent as he heard Doc laugh.
"Please don't tell me it's downtown wiring." Doc chuckled and brushed hair out of his face, smiling at the other.
"That's the thing! It's kinda downtown but not fully! There are some mechanisms in there that I've never seen before." Etho began to laugh as well, pinching his nose.
Doc smiled and shook his head. "Of course. C'mon, let me see it."

Doc stared at the mechanical leg Joel had left here earlier. He'd been quiet since Etho showed it to him.
"See I told you! Not downtown but not uptown either, I don't-..." He fell silent. Doc carefully turned the leg around, muttering to himself. He wasn't listening.
"It can't.. It's not.." He whispered, examining the wiring, the frown sinking deeper and deeper into his face. "Etho, are you familiar with create?"
"It's a complex way of wiring redstone, that uses materials that can be hurtful to human and hybrid skin. It's banned in most cities around the world." Etho spoke, his eyes focused on the leg.
Doc nodded slowly. "It's exactly that, god it's been a while since I've seen Create used anywhere."
"Oh snap," Etho breathed out, stepping back a little. "should we report it to the authorities?" he eyed the wiring, he hadn't seen Create before, it was banned before he started to work here.
"...No. Not yet, I want to keep it a little bit longer. This might be big." Doc muttered quietly and looked at Etho. "Let's see, do you have Tango's number? He knows a thing or two about Create code and wiring."
----
"Hey Cleo! Good to see that you made it." Etho nodded at his friend as he opened the door.
She gave him a smile and took off her coat and shoes. "Always, Etho. I'd never miss a game night," they cheered, scooting past the other and letting herself fall onto the couch. "Am I first?"
Etho looked at her for a second before turning around to see Doc opening the door to his room, peeking out from behind it. "Did someone come?"
"Cleo's here." The other responded, pointing at his best friend, who did a small wave.
"Oh." Doc turned back around to his room, talking to someone else who wasn't visible, before walking out with Ren, who was carrying a redstone circuit.
Cleo eyed them for second before looking back at the android in front of her. "So I'm second?" she questioned, tilting her head in Ren's direction.
"Yeah. The others should be there in a second! Tango said he got big news for us." Etho grinned, letting himself fall onto the couch next to Cleo.
Cleo looked at Doc and Ren who were whispering to each other in the hallway. "You guys really need to get a radio in here or something, the silence is killing me!" she laughed, lifting the mood a little bit.
"I was thinking about getting a gramophone.." Etho's voice trailed off as Ren and Doc sat down on their couch next to him.
"Hey! Leave some space next to Etho for Bdubs!" Cleo smiled as Ren laughed and scooted closer to Doc, who smiled at Etho.
The android gave Cleo a side eye, but their conversation was brocken up by the bell to their apartment ringing.
Etho was the first to jump up and looked at Doc, who nodded, non-verbally telling him to go ahead.
He strolled over to the door, smiling. He guessed that it was either Lizzie who had lost track of time, Beef, or Mumbo. Etho opened the door and was greeted with a Mumbo and a Lizzie, immersed in their own conversation.
"-you think? I don't think he would go as far as doing that." Lizzie said before noticing Etho and so putting an end to their conversation. "Oh hey, Etho! Is Cleo here already?" she asked as she scooted past him, leaving Mumbo in front of the door.
"Hi, Etho." The moustached man smiled and followed Lizzie inside.
"Cleo's here already, yeah."
––––
"Now that we're all here," Tango started as the last guest (Jimmy) arrived and squeezed himself into the space between Bdubs and Tango. The chattering abruptly died down as he spoke. "I got something that you'll enjoy." he grinned.
Etho's eyes (and probably everyone else's too) turned to him as he freed himself from Jimmys hand that was loosely drooped over his shoulder and walked up to Etho and Doc's game console to put a mystery disc into it. "I welcome you all," he exclaimed and turned back around to his friends as the TV began to turn on and load the mystery disc. Etho's eyes widened.
A Blizzard began to roar and an icy dungeon-esque entrance to something appeared on the TV. "I welcome you all to the dungeon." Tango announced, and Etho couldn't stop himself from gasping and giving Bdubs a light punch to make sure he wasn't the only one seeing this.
After a few seconds, and as the name "Decked Out 2" appeared on the screen, the couch erupted in cheers and a lot of people bounced up and down, clapping for Tango as he walked back to the couch, sitting back down and handing Etho the controller.
As Jimmy gave Tango a hug, Etho turned around to Bdubs who was staring at the controller that the android held like a treasure in his hands. The brunet slowly started to reach for the controller, holding eye contact with Etho.
"Don't you dare." Etho whispered and couldn't hold back a smile as he looked at Bdubs.
Bdubs held eye contact for a little longer, and then reached out grab it. Etho leaned backwards, accidentally shoving Cleo. "Don't you dare!!!"
Cleo laughed and shoved Etho back.
"Cleo!! I thought you were on my side what the hell!" He exclaimed and held the controller high up, and after a few seconds of calming down and breathing, Etho realized that Bdubs was too short to reach it.
The brunet was trying to reach the controller for a few seconds before breathing out and throwing himself onto Etho, hoping it would surprise him enough to lower it. "Give it to me!!"
