II: Last Love.

Bdubs silently put his plants back on the windowsill after watering them, a calming silence lovingly caressing the corners of his room. Scar had classes right now and it was Bdubs' only free time in the week except for Friday. The brunet took a second to breathe and sat down on his bed.

"Why can't every day be Friday?" he quietly whispered and leaned back onto the wall. The habit of cursing himself because he wanted to visit Uptown City resurfaced for a quick moment, but Bdubs repressed the thought and ran a hand through his curly dark brown hair.

He lived in Downtown DC, the city that was known for its magical atmosphere, its classes on herbs and herbal medicine and, first and foremost, it's historical discoveries. Bdubs loved studying and he was planning on graduating next year with a degree in philosophy, but sometimes his mind wandered back to Uptown City. The big, mechanical, redstone heavy and very advanced city. The polar opposite of Downtown DC.

Bdubs sighed and looked out of the window. The sun shone, leaving little rainbows in his room. He really wanted to get out of his dorm for once and sit in the sun, but he promised Scar that he would help him with studying for his English exam. In that moment, Bdubs deeply regretted his decision.

He faintly heard the bell ring and was convinced that he could already hear Scar complain about maths. Bdubs covered his face with his hands, different colours appearing in place of the neatly organized dorm room. In-between the bright greens and oranges, the face of a certain someone appeared and Bdubs smiled into his hands.

The few nice moments that he had to himself passed as the door to the dorm got pushed open.

"Bdubs!! We just had English and Mrs. Teacher said that we have to learn the..."

Scar's words faded before they could reach Bdubs' ears and he sighed. "Scar.." He started, slowly removing his hands from his face, the certain someone disappearing into the nothingness. Bdubs took a deep breath and smiled slightly. "Slow down. I'm gonna help you."

Scar's eyes widened and he smiled brightly. His brown hair was all over the place and he reached back to grab his English book from his backpack that hung on the back of his wheelchair. He quietly flicked through the pages, searching for something.

Bdubs waited patiently and bit his nail, "How's Grian?" he asked, tilting his head. "Haven't seen him since finals week started." Bdubs shivered at the thought of graduating. He still had a year left, but Grian graduates in a few weeks. Bdubs both admired Grian and felt so sorry for him.

"Oh! Uh. Yeah, yeah. As fine as he can be." Scar shrugged, very concentrated on finding the page he was searching for. "M gonna go see him later.." his voice trailed off and Bdubs smiled gently.

He felt like Scar and Grian have been together for ages. To be honest, he stopped counting after two months,
because Grian usually never stays with someone for more than three days. Bdubs and G have been friends for what feels like decades to the both of them and he knows how Grian acts. If Bdubs had to make a guess, he'd guess that Grian wasn't even studying right now and was rather out and about somewhere in Uptown City.

Bdubs shook his head to guide his thoughts back to the real world and he looked at Scar, who was-yes, still-completely preoccupied with flipping through the pages of the book.

He contemplated waving his hands in front of Scar's face, but decided against it and looked out the window. The sun was brighter than he thought and after a few seconds of realization, Bdubs quickly pressed his eyes close. He chuckled quietly and squinted at Scar while he blinked repeatedly, trying to adjust his eyes to the darkness of the dorm room again.

"Ah! Here it is!" Scar exclaimed and smiled, Bdubs leaned forward to see what he was so annoyed about.

"Oh... That. Is that actually..?" Bdubs' asked himself and frowned. That was gonna be difficult to learn. "We'll manage... I hope.." He laughed slightly and took the book from Scar's hands.

"As if the other stuff wasn't enough to learn.." Scar grumbled and reached for his phone. "I'm gonna call Grian to tell him that I'll have to come an hour later. Be right back, B." He spoke and Bdubs only nodded slightly, grimacing as he read through the text explaining the subject.

"We'll get it, I'm sure." Bdubs exclaimed, "Tomorrow we'll ask someone that majors in English.." he stopped himself, "Do ya know someone that majors in English?"

Scar was about to leave the dorm room but stopped and frowned. "Yes..?" he said, sounding unsure of himself. "I think Gem, right?"

"No, Gem is a history major.. Is Joe an English major...?" Bdubs scratched his head.

"Isn't he also majoring in philosophy?" Scar questioned and Bdubs frowned. A few seconds of silence passed by before Scar shrugged and laughed. "Well figure something out... Tomorrow!" he smiled as he pushed open the door and waved at Bdubs, who waved back and forced a smile.

As the door closed behind Scar, Bdubs fell back onto his bed and let out a sigh. It had turned dark already and every ounce of energy he had at the beginning of the study session dissappeared without a trace. He wanted to go for a walk, but could barely muster up the strength to sit up. Bdubs really just wanted the week to end. "Why can't it be Friday already?" he asked himself and sighed.

I'll lay down for a minute and then take a shower, he decided. His eyes slowly closed and Bdubs took a deep breath. It was quiet, nothing dared to make a sound expect for the old lamp illuminating the room and the crickets chirping outside. Sometimes Bdubs wished that he had started working after middle school like his friend, Keralis.
