a/n: trigger warning
( suicidal thoughts Rosé
is about to describe )
Four weeks before Christmas.
Kate got to school, only to see herself rushing through every bathroom there is on every floor of their building. Rosé texted her to come early today— again; said she needed her more than ever.
She felt more than responsible to make her top priority for now. Yoongi handled it good at the beginning, but this had gone on for over a week now. Though, she doesn't blame him for feeling left out; she didn't know what else she could do. Rosé could end up in the same situation as Jimin did before and she knew she would never be able to forgive herself if that comes true.
"Breathe, honey, breathe. . .," Kate started, synchronizing with her.
"I– I was tempted to do it again. . . it's getting worse. . ."
Kate didn't know the right words to say nor the right thing to do in this kind of situation. All she could do as a friend was hugging it out, not taking the risk of possibly increasing the suicidal tendencies she's been showing.
"I'm here. . . I'm here. . ."

"Parents suck."
Kate tried her best not to go against that statement, seeing as they had different ones. She decided to listen in on what Yoongi had to say about Rosé.
"They're pressuring her to pursue law, instead of wasting-money-on-dancing were their exact words." Just imagining it inside her head, how awfully tiring it could be to hear that over and over every single day at home. Sure, her parents did that, but not to the extent of forcing it upon them. No.
"How about your parents? Do they still know you exist?"
"What do you mean? Nothing's changed." Nothing has. Except, maybe, they don't bring up Jimin during casual conversations anymore. Well, not as much as they used to, anyway. It's a working progress.
"The comparing. You've always hated that about them," Yoongi pointed it out.
She gave out a huge sigh, unsure what that was meant for. "Nobody likes it."
"Have you. . talked to Seokjin lately?" Yoongi mentioned him out of the blue, causing her to blink dumbfoundedly.
"No, why?" It wasn't the cute jealous side she usually sees in him. It was uncomfortable to hear him ask.
Yoongi stared at her, tucking his hands inside his pockets. "Shouldn't we go on a date now or something?"
"Your place?" Kate was up for it. Anything to get out of the awkward zone.
"Are your parents gonna be home later tonight?" Yoongi was pretty sure she was getting tired of hanging out at his. Why not hers, this time? Plus, it'd be safer for her not to go home that late at night, even when he trusts the cab driver.
"I think they're planning on Christmas shopping," Kate bites her lower lip, leaning in on Yoongi.
"Great." He teases the younger by walking the other way, leaving her in the cold. But soon came after when she was storming her way to the other building.
🎧
Yoongi was taking off his coat and hanging it behind his girlfriend's bedroom door when he finally saw what her room looked like.
Mr. and Mrs. Jung were out shopping like she said, and both of them got the house all to themselves, just how they wanted.
"This seems decent." He teased, landing his rear softly on her bed, running his hand over the blanket she didn't bother fixing before leaving for school earlier.
"I clean my room so often, you can barely see specs of dust anywhere. Except today," Kate scratched the back of his head, turning on the T.V. for entertainment. She handed the remote over to Yoongi to let him pick a movie, but instead, he pulled her by the waist, snuggling his head onto her shoulder. "You're supposed to pick one movie first."
"Pick anything. I have different plans with you tonight," Yoongi went on top of her, pinning her arms beside her while biting his lower lip.
She couldn't move, she couldn't feel herself breathe at all from how loud her heart was beating in her chest. "Yoongi, stop fooling around—"
"I'm not~" He swooped in and started off by kissing her shoulder.
"Very funny." Kate went and changed the movie by her remote, playing a random old video of her when she was younger. Yoongi turned back to watch it, laying off his interest in what he was trying to do to her earlier.
"Is that you?"
Kate giggled, resting her head on his lap while they both watched her childhood on screen. "That was Jimin. The first time he saw me in Mom's arms. He wasn't too happy about it and stormed out inside the hospital. I thought it was cute."
"You're cute." Yoongi couldn't respond within the next hour, eyes completely darted and undistracted from Kate's calling for food and all. He observed. He liked observing people. Especially how they grow up. He watched the moments Kate got into accidents like tripping over herself, kids playing around and splashing her with their water gun toy.
Now that he thought about it, Kate might never had shown anyone these videos before, other than him, since she never had a boyfriend.
He felt so special, he didn't even notice his fingers intertwining and pulling in hers. He liked holding those fingers. He liked securing them and keeping them safe. And she liked it, more than anything in the world.
"Bet this was more fun than cuddling and almost get caught by my parents, huh?"
That. . . wasn't even half of what Yoongi had planned in his mind.
