•CHAPTER 16•

"Are you finished?" Yoongi asked as he examined himself in the mirror. It was after 8 p.m. and they were preparing to go to her house to gather her possessions because he had heard the house was up for auction.

She yelled back, "A minute more!" and she let her hair down.

The car ride was quiet and relaxing. She had been quite fidgety the whole time, not knowing how she would react to being back to her old house.

As she unlocked the main entrance, she inhaled deeply. It was just as she had feared - red tapes on the wall and vacant rooms. After gathering everything she needed, she glanced back at those walls which once were bright and vibrant. She looked at those doors which used to let in cool air and sometimes, stray cats from the streets. The memories flood back in. Even though she lived alone here, it still was her home.

Yoongi trailed behind her, "Let's go back, shall we?" He placed his hand gently on the small back of her, and she felt a rush of relief spread through her. He helped her carry the small suitcase, placing it in the back of the car. He then unlocked the door for her, and the two of them slipped into the car without saying anything.

"You want some ice cream?" He broke the silence and she nodded in agreement.

Parking the car, he jogged over to a neighboring ice cream shop. She sat there, smiling like an idiot as she watched his dwindling body.

But a voice startled her, "You should confess to him, you know."

She turned around to see the Grim Reaper smirking at her. She quickly shooed him away when she saw Yoongi arriving with the ice cream.

When Yoongi is out to work, she's made herself busy creating the missing chords to complete the piece. But on a fateful day, he arrived at his flat earlier than normal and heard a tune that he felt strangely familiar with. Unlocking the door, he peered into the storeroom and discovered her playing the music he had been dreading hearing. That was the day he realized his instincts about her were correct. But he decided to give her time to tell him the truth and waited patiently for her to do so.

He walked outside on tiptoe and rang the doorbell to make it seem he just arrived. She opened the door for him in a flash and offered him one of her finest smiles, as she always did, "You're back soo early!"

He dropped down on the couch weary, "Done for the day!"

Pouring him a glass of juice, she started, "How was today's meeting with Mr. Kim?"

"Well, I suppose it was alright. I have a presentation scheduled for tomorrow," He sits up a little to watch her, "How was yours?"

She shrugged as she sat alongside him, "The typical - napping, watching a few Korean dramas, and cooking us lunch," When she didn't suggest playing the pianos to him, he frowned internally.

She chuckled as she said, "A friendly advice, make the layout pink while giving the presentation."

"Pink?" He cocked his head in her direction, his brows furrowed.

She smirked at him and said, "Trust me, he'll be impressed."

"That's not something I'll ever try," he shrugs off the idea.

"It's your loss," she shrugged, taking a pack of cookies and sitting next to him, "Would you like to watch a movie?"

"I'm going to change first. Be back in a minute," before running to his room, he smiled at her.

She thought, 'Cute.'

Yoongi discovered her browsing the romance genre, wondering what to watch. He smirked as he reached for the remote, "Romance, huh?"

Finally, he chose a random film from it, which turned out to be Five Feet Apart. They both felt their eyes moisten at the sight of their sad love story, which reminded them of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.

Yoongi sighed as he leaned against the couch, watching her. 'Love - the most important aspect of one's life, which is essential, just like the air we breathe.'

"May I ask you a question?" She gave a slight nod. He thought of ways to make her confess the truth. "I'm interested in learning more about you. So, tell me about yourself."

She chuckled before facing him, "To begin with, my father was disappointed in me since I passed out during my first piano recital at school. You can imagine how much his pride was harmed - he is a well-known musician. Everything around me was stressing me out, and my situation worsened when nose bleeds and hyperventilation began to appear on a regular basis. He decided to relocate me to a place where no one would know me, based on the doctor's advice. I was terrified, but he assured me that everything would be fine."

"My anxiety attack began on the first day, and I bolted from the classroom in search of a restroom. I started shaking violently before I could even get to the washbasin, almost convulsing in the hallway. Someone dragged me out of there and onto the lawn outside while I struggled to gather my breath. As I was ready to pass out, I recall him gently taking my hand. His soothing voice instructed me to imitate his breathing rhythm, his breath fanning against my hair, and his calming hands running up and down. Our initial meeting will remain in my memory forever. He was the one who was always there for me when I was at my lowest, and he was my savior."

"We shared a passion for the piano. When I was doubting my own abilities, he never failed to appreciate me. We used to skip school and spend our time together in the music room. Everyone admired our friendship, but then something happened that ruined everything and took everything I treasured away from me."

"My father deserted us. When I returned home from school one day, I discovered my mother had died. She overdosed on the pills, and my brother and I were placed for adoption. I was relieved that he was adopted quickly so that he would not have to suffer like I do.

Ji Sang and I, as I already stated, fled from that awful place that treated us like slaves. Only if he hadn't left me by the side of the road....."

Flashback

All she could think of were curses to throw at Ji Sang. How could he just desert her? In the middle of a desolate street?

For a while, she sat there, contemplating all her life's decisions. She had had enough - she wouldn't wait for anyone to save her. She'd take the matter into her own hands.

Getting up and dusting her clothes, she decided to follow the road. A car would definitely pass by, she prayed. And surely, after a few minutes of walking, a car came to a halt in front of her, making her jump. A man exited the car and approached her, "Do you have a place to go home to sweetheart?" She shook her head.

"Do you mind if I take you to mine?" She pondered for a moment before accepting his offer. Truth was, she was terrified, yet she felt comfortable with him.

"You do not need to be concerned about anything. I'll make sure you're taken care of," He had a reassuring tone to his voice.

Before we drove into his mansion, he grinned and said, "Let's get you settled first."

Present-day

"I'm grateful that he found me and gave me the chance to live anew...."
