•CHAPTER 10•

Something attracted her attention when she opened the forbidden door. A piano, to be precise. As she approached it, she noticed a few notes on the music desk that she immediately recognized as hers.

Her emotions were paralyzed as she stared at the letters, fighting the urge to cry.

"It belonged to my first love."

When she heard his words, she felt a cold shudder run down her spine. He was leaning against the door, staring at her when she turned around.

He sat near her, playing the melody, and she stepped aside.

"Your first love?" she inquired.

"There was this girl who transferred to our class owing to some health issue. She was pale as snow. Her father was a well-known pianist, and she was a gifted musician herself. She believed she could have a better life, but when her father eloped with her music teacher, everything went wrong. We heard he moved from Seoul specifically for her. She was utterly shattered," Yoongi tries hard to not sniff.

"That day, I saw her racing out of class, crying, so I followed her. I was afraid she would do something wrong, but she didn't. Her condition deteriorated day by day...."

"W-what about her mother?" She tried to form words.

"Let's say her mother became ill after her spouse eloped and blamed her heavily. Her mother abused her on a daily basis because of it. She even smashed her piano, burnt her books, and stole anything linked to music from her."

"But, her being her," he smiled gently, reminiscing the memory, "She would scrawl notes in my books whenever she felt tempted. Her hands appear to be aching to touch and play the piano."

"We were both able to sneak out one day. I went here to this guy in my area who owned a piano. She was ecstatic." It seemed Yoongi's expression brightened too. "She played the piano as if she were on a different planet, free of sorrow and anxiety."

He fell silent for a while before he sighed, "And that was the last time I ever saw her..."

"Did you... try to locate her?" she inquired, turning pale as snow.

"I tried but failed. I'm guessing she's using a different name here."

"What was her name?" she wanted to make sure.

"It was Minjee, Jeon Minjee," he said.

"Y-You'll find her soon," she said with a smile, encouraging him. He had no idea he was looking for the woman who sat next to him.

"Could you just play that note again?" she asked, trying her hardest not to cry.

He obliged before stopping in the middle, "It's unfinished... She started writing... and then she vanished before finishing it..."

"Do you know how to play the piano?" he inquired as he stood there watching her.

"Before going to the orphanage, I used to play a lot. But now..." she rubs the back of her neck a little, "I'm a little rusty..." She murmured as she placed her hands on it softly.

"I was under the impression that cats couldn't play pianos," He chuckled as she threw him another death gaze.
